This is a very nice cover of Little Walter's original blues classic. Little Walter was Muddy Waters' harmonica player for many years before going solo in the early '50s. This is not the John Lee Hooker song, "Boom Boom." Completely different song. Canned Heat collabed with Hooker on a great version of that song on their album Hooker 'n' Heat.
Saw PT in 79 opening for AC/DC in a small theater and he tore the place down! Before the show got started we were waiting in our seats and a friend was in the isle seat. He was sitting up on the back of the seat and a guy came down and asked if he knew what was going to happen if he didn't sit down right in the seat. My friend said Boom Boom out go the lights, the guy said yep.
The Pat Travers Band has two guitarists -- Pat Travers is guitar and vocals (as well as Keyboards on later tours) and Pat Thrall on Lead Guitar. Both Pats play guitar solos, and sometimes the play dual guitar, which is awesome when they do that! You should check out his song called "It Makes No Difference", from the live album!
It’s not written by John Lee Hooker, he wrote Boom boom, while Boom boom out goes the lights was written by Stan Lewis and first recorded by Little Walter.
This whole album is flat-out kick ass. I saw them in the Oakland Coliseum Arena outdoors around the time this came out, and they just tore it up! It's Pat Travers and Pat Thrall on guitars on this album.
Mars was a beast on bass. Tommy Aldridge on drums who went on to play for Whitesnake and OZZY. This album also featured co guitarist Pat Thrall who was smokin' on this song too. But, Pat's "The Man"! You gotta do the studio cuts of "Snorting' Whisky" , "Makes No Difference" , "Hammerhead", "Heat In The Street' , "Gettin' Betta'" ,"Killers Instinct'' and the live "Crash And Burn" 🔥🔥🔥
Got to see Mr. Pat Travers as part of a three band show at the good ol' Worcester Centrum, with Rose Tattoo, an Australian band that got booed off the stage, and the local boys of fame from New England, AEROSMITH. The Pat Travers Band, from Canada, got a great response from the decidedly A-smith home crowd. His other big song was "Snortin' Whiskey and Drinkin' Cocaine", but that title may put off You Tube, the creepy bastards.
This is such a great jam!! 🤘🤘I don't think I know many songs from him, but another F***ing BANGER is called, Snorting Whiskey, and Drinking Cocaine. That song is off the rails!!!
This version of the pat travers band was straight up FIRE! I wish they had lasted longer. The album ‘heat in the street’ is just fantastic. You shoukd check out the title cut and ‘Killer’s instinct’ from that lp. Oh and Prelude is a beautiful instrumental
The drummer back then was Tommy aldridge. Who went on to have an amazing career with Whitesnake played with Ozzy with a ton of people. I saw Pat the first time with opening up for Judas priest. Then I saw him at the Paramount Seattle Washington it was. And then more recently a few years back I saw him at pig out in the park in Spokane Washington. It was him and Rick derringer. If you haven't done anything on Rick Derringer I suggest you do the live album is live album is killer. Keep up the good work my friend. Very much enjoyed listening to your Channel
Great party song! Love Jphn Lee Hooker! How about playing some of him? Travers was critical of Eddie Van Halen early on, something about playing on the neck wasn't cool or something like that.
Biz, get you some Frank Marino! Also Canadian, and fun fact, both were born in 1954, Pat in Toronto in April, Frank in Montreal in November. I recommend "Something's Coming Our Way", or "It's Begun to Rain" live performances at Agora Theater ruclips.net/video/4jUKJst-rUA/видео.htmlsi=PoJxvz0k93xs5b4- ruclips.net/video/qe3KkcJnt4Y/видео.htmlsi=PB9JMMuBfJciQ0sD
Pat Travers is awesome!!! You gotta check out his song called snortin whiskey, you’ll love it
Pat Travers was a beast. Very underrated
Tommy Aldridge on drums

Mars on bass never takes a breath. Amazing.
Heck yes!! 🎉🤟🏻
So many great guitar players during the 70's rock era.

Seen him live before and he is fantastic. Anything off that live album is fire!
Great fun kick ass party tune!

Saw him a few years ago and he can still slay the guitar! We also got to meet him after the show and such a nice guy!
🤘🤘

Do the live version of Snortin' Whisky from the same album! It's a Beast too!!!
Saw him in late 1980 - he opened for Foghat. Great show!!!! ☮️💜
He does a version of Statesboro Blues that is absurdly awesome.
This is such a great jam!! 🤘🤘I don't think I know many songs from him, but another F***ing BANGER is called, Snorting Whiskey, and Drinking Cocaine. That song is off the rails!!!
Full tilt boogie Biz!
It’s such a fun song. Ive always loved this. It was still played in heavy rotation when I was in high school in the 80s.
What a fun song. Great boogie rock.
This song was a "must play" at every party. Put this song along with Aerosmith's "Train Kept-a-Rollin", and the house would be jumpin'!!!
This was a must at the keg parties🤘❤️
Just saw him in St Pete FL last year. Still got it.
This version of the pat travers band was straight up FIRE! I wish they had lasted longer. The album ‘heat in the street’ is just fantastic. You shoukd check out the title cut and ‘Killer’s instinct’ from that lp. Oh and Prelude is a beautiful instrumental
2 great guitar players Pat Travers & Pat Thrall
A great fusion of old school Blues and Hard Rock. Check out his other banger 'snortin' whiskey, drinking cocaine'.
Great song
Grew up on this album... #Timeless. Lucky to have seen PTB 3 x.
Saw him live holy shit incredible show
Wow! What a flashback, I still have the album! Thank you 😊
Great track, John Lee Hooker was the man, check out Big Head Todd and the Monsters covering "Boom boom boom" , John Lee is featured on it.
Loudest concert ever for me
I love this jam! Thanks.
One of the great live albums. These guys were tearing it up live.
I met the guy a few years ago backstage at a show in Tooele UT. Never met a nicer guy.
Check out his cover of Sugar Loaf's "Green Eyed Lady". It is just so good.
Try "Hooked on Music" from the same live album.
Yes I have cassette
Bring it on home!
