Hi @filmsandfeels-dg1pb, The Canon 514 XL is fine in my opinion. It's just that the construction of the lense housing that Canon made in their low end Super 8 cameras were junk. Far better investment to buy a Fujica Single-8 Z800 or ZC 1000.
Any idea how to remove the handle on these? Trying to toy around with one of these and can't figure out how to remove the handle/battery compartment from the camera body.
@@paulmorbid1476 I was trying to dismantle the handle. Or, at the very least, remove the handle from the body. Trying to see if I can figure out why one of my 514xls cameras isn’t powering on and am guessing there are some bad contacts between the handle and the body somewhere. I realize that it’s probably not actually worth the effort but I am mostly doing this out of curiosity!
You'd have to end up dismantling the camera more just to remove that handle. Usually the issue is at component level. Check for weak solder joints. I've actually found a better use for my 514 XLS the way it is. Very possibly a video on that in the future. ~Paul~

Hi @th3s1ckl3. Just be clear, are you wanting to dismantle the handed on the Canon 514 XLS? Or simply put batteries in it's handle?
