for anyone wondering the main bass for first of the year was made using the sample and hold effect in massive so was the ruffneck bass
the song starts at 2:44 but the drop 3:49 made everything 2x better!

Apparently some people think that I'm not aware of the fact that the original First of the Year growl was made with FM8.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I am *completely* aware of that fact.
The reason I re-made it with massive instead of FM8, it's simply because I am much *MUCH* more familiar with Massive than with FM8.
And Besides, FM8 works a *LOT* better when using it with Ableton Live (Which I still haven't figured out how to use) instead of FL Studio (Which I consider myself to be a Pro at lol).

Let me save ya'll the time & trouble and criticize myself for once
- Mixdown is horrible
- Mastering is literally unexistent
- No form of compression at all
- EQ is retarded as fuck
- Sampling is amateur-ish
- Sound design is mediocre
- Samples used are mediocre
- Sidechain is so extreme that it's the physical equivalent of filling up lungs with water and trying to breathe
- No atmosphere whatsoever
- No background fills whatsoever
Veredict: 2/10
Gee, it's almost like this was done 3 years ago by someone who was an amateur at the time and not Skrillex himself lmao
Let me not check out his newer stuff to see if he has improved at all

I've tried lots of times but it's too different from what I'm used to. Eventually I'll sit down and explore it better but for now I'll stick with FL Studio since I know it in and out 👌

After all I think you did a good job on the drop though. Sounds like the difference from ,,All is fair in love and Brostep" to ,,Terror Squad". This would be more like the ,,Terror Squad" out of the two.

It's automation but on the double notch filter on massive (I think, it's been a while since I played around with that sound)

Is the inferno choir a stock preset in nexus?
I actually took a sample from an actual live crowd riot and followed the chord progression with it making it sound like an "inferno" choir
EQ'd it and added some reverb to it, that's pretty much it tbh

I did use a basic nexus choir preset alongside it but it's used more to fill rather than to be on top of the rest of the sounds

I know how to use it and I have created some sounds and such, but my skill on FM8 is way too low for me to be re-creating such a complicated sound xD

Not necessarily, although FM8 is truly great for making sounds like that, massive is just as good.
Take a look at Barely Alive for example, they're considered to be one of the heaviest dubstep producers of all time, and they generally use Massive
It's not about the program, it's about the producer :p

Sidechaining is a bit off and you should have used a vocoder on the intro growl with a highpass filter.

Hey I'm from India and I only know to make edm made out of stock plugins. Will u teach dubstep 😎😎😎
Get yourself Massive and Serum if Dubstep is your goal. Massive being an industry standard and Serum being a bit more advanced, you'll find everything you need with those plugins.
Also OTT for compression, even Skrillex is a known OTT user.
There are very good 3rd party EQ plugins out there like Pro-Q and Fab-Filter but *_usually_* the stock EQ plugins on almost any DAW will get the job done.
I don't expect you to know how to create your own drums being a beginner so get your hands on some good dubstep sample packs. Literally anything released by Cymatics, or any Disciple Recordings artist like Virtual Riot and Barely Alive will be good enough to start. Though it truly depends on what type of style or sound you're looking for. If you're into more old school, 2011-ish styles then looking for older sample packs is a must. Basically anything released by Vengeance which used to be an *_incredibly_* popular source for sounds back in the day. If you're into more modern styles of dubstep and EDM then stick with Cymatics and anything from Disciple.
Assuming you're using FL Studio, personally only like 25% of everything I use to make my songs are from 3rd party sources, the rest is literally FL Studio stock plugins and even stock samples that I edit myself to add my own personality and twist onto them.
I also create my own drums and have my own personal "Maelseom Sample Pack", but that's only because of my experience.
On a side note, it's basically impossible for me to upload videos at this particular point in time so I cant teach you anything more than what I just did for now :(

Jus to get the growls to move sound like there talking like that first bass that comes in n really the drop to the patterns,automations and just putting those growls together to make something crazy but this remake is still awesome man i love it just wanted more in depth thanks for the reply really and keep doing what u doin man!

Maelseom ive been producing for about 2 years now i jus recently started experimenting with dubstep a couple weeks ago but that would be awesome man for real any tips n tricks i can get is a blessing i really appreciate you!
You should work on your mixdowns, and basses. The basses need ALOT more post processing/resampling (Eq vowel filters etc). Other than that it's pretty good. : )
