Big up the man behind the board. Excellent teaching and explained everything very easily. I rate maths genie and you really helped me with my A level maths. Thank you.

What about when you get a O in the grid like for example in this one 4x^3 -8x^2 - x + 2 and x-2 is a factor

Is this basically just algebraic long division?

pretty much, i find algebraic long division easier as well

Grid method is simpler and faster than long division

do I have to know this if I know how to do algebraic long division?

i dont think so, i think this is just an alternative method to get more marks for this question if u happen to find algebraic long division a little difficult, but you wont get full marks on a paper if u dont know the alg. long division as a whole:)

is there any other way to factorise at 4:52, without doing trial and error?

I followed this through and can't understand your disliking it. It seems to be just about perfect to me.

It is the best explanation of the grid method on the internet.
