You said there’s no way you could teach what it takes a teacher a couple weeks to teach but you literally just did. My instructor has been trying to teach this to me for over a month and this 14 minute video is what made it click for me. Thank you thank you thank you! You literally just saved my life. You’re incredibly good at explaining things in a simple way that makes it understandable for each different kind of polynomial. This isn’t even a diss to my teacher because she’s been absolutely incredible for every other chapter and has been the first math teacher I’ve actually understood in my entire life and yet, even she couldn’t explain this to me and you could. That’s talent.

When will anyone ever use this in the everyday world? Taking college algebra and wondering why this is useful?
It is exercise for your brain. You will almost never use it as is but by learning it you teach your brain to be a better problem solver.
I used to think the same.You can go pretty much in your life without using it but it has its rel life applications.I saw it first in electronics and specially circuit analysis.That as and is not my background..
Without algebra you wouldn't be able to use your laptop nor do anything that is needed to be done In todays world. Basically engineers use math to make everything we use.
It strengthens your brain. Mathematicians are critical skills experts. Math is the language of all other sciences.
Thank you for these quick reviews! Heading into my first college classes having graduated high school 14 years ago. Bought a few books to try and refresh my math knowledge (for my entrance exam) but these 10-15 min videos are way more helpful in helping me pull this lost info from the depths of my brain.

This video helps a great deal when you finally get to the point, but the talking is so repetitive about your channel, videos, etc. Just get to the point and everyone will be scoring a 100%.

Thank you! I rarely see Jr. High/ High school teachers that will really teach students how to factor. Instead they always teach grouping (ac method), which doesn’t build on and reinforce what has been previously learned (distribution and FOILing), it does not teach students to think mathematically. Students are so damaged by teachers teaching the grouping method and it is then hard to fix that in the future. So I applaud you for teaching this in a way that truly helps students learn rather than just get through an assignment.
On trinomials with leading coefficient of one I prefer not to teach the, “find factors of c that add to b”. I find to often when students learn that they then struggle to learn to factor when the leading coefficient is not 1 because they continue to try to find factors of c that add to b. So for me I like to just teach the “double smiley face” reverse FOIL for both types, it adds to consistency. That being said most students figure it out anyways.
Yes, the main reason I watched this video was so that I could factor when the leading coefficient is greater than one

I know he is adding a lot of unnecessary details, but I’m one of the people who can only understand by this method of teaching.obviously it depends on what you’re used to , bcz I am used to this kind of explaining and I just moved to the United States and I am so confused in my algebra class bcz the teacher jumps right into the topic ,with no elaboration.

I am retired now for 11 years and 70 years old. I never thought I would be fooling around with algebra as something fun, but I am. The highest level of mathematics I attained in college was calculus. Came here because I slacked off and thought it would be sweet until the chapter with polynomials came up. They are not super difficult, but when you have to cramp 8 sections of a chapter you have no knowledge of in 2 days and take a test..Yeah, I was super lost. The only example that gave me pause was examples of special case 2, but I totally got it now. This helped so much (at least for me)
