    *⚠ TWO corrections*
    1. I mis-spoke. CO2 & ER Yag Ablative lasers are distinct. I had Ablative ER Yag Ablative laser, NOT CO2 Ablative laser.
    2. I had Restylane Lyft filler along my jawline, not a "permanent" filler. RL is a thicker filler used to add definition. My dermatologist described it as "more structural". I misunderstood that to mean it was permanent. Actually RL can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase.

      Sorry to inform you, but ALL these eyelash serums & eyebrow serums are Causing Fat Pad Loss in that region. Dr. Rajani, (who also had a YouYube channel) has spoken in this topic. You should go watch his video on it!
      DITCH those expensive & youth Deteriorating serums, & go for a natural one without those side effects. Or opt for fake lashes. Your eye's will thank you for it!

      @@CherylBerryl thank you so much for your reply and suggestions. I have seen Dr R’s video on prostaglandin serums & acknowledge his concerns.
      For me these serums are not causing any detrimental issues. I am very aware that some have experienced negative side effects and i appreciate your kind concern.
      My orbital fat loss began well before using prostaglandin containing serums. I have tried fake lashes however can’t tolerate the glue (lid dermatitis reaction) I have also tried some natural serums including caster oil. However for me there were no results.
      Again, I appreciate the conversation because I feel open honest dialogue is very important.
      Everyone has a different response to these serums. For me personally Bimatoprost/Revitalash is a wonderful solution but it’s definitely not everyone’s best choice💜

    Thank you for this blog. You look great! So tired of reading and hearing women say that we should all be aging gracefully period. If a woman chooses to age without any type of anti-aging intervention then I think that's great. I could never have been one of them. The women in my family do not age well and therefore I have personally taken advantage of some of the wonderful cosmetic procedures that help me prolong the inevitable for as long as I can. If anyone has a problem with that, its their problem and not mine.

      I'm 20 but I do read those comments and I find them pretty crazy because excess of skin on the body can actually decrease your life quality. Just like too much excees of skin on your eyelids can obstruct your vision. It's more than just aesthetic and I think taking care of your skin is the actual "aging gracefully".
      I think it's fine if those people don't worry about the aesthetic part at all, that's on them, but sometimes that just sounds like an excuse to justify the constant negligence on themselves

    Oh damn….you saw Dr Idriss?? I adore her YT channel!
    You look great! I recently turned 57 myself.
    I’ve stayed out of the sun almost completely (hate direct sunlight) and my skin has thanked me. Never done any procedures except once I got laser to get rid of a broken capillary on my chin (rosacea) and remove some skin tags.
    I’m a skincare junkie now. My strong jawline has kept the jowls at bay and the fact I wear sunglasses more than anyone I know and have ALWAYS done this (mydriatic pupils and light colored eyes=light sensitivity) has kept the crows feet and under eye sags away as well because I’ve always protected my eyes.
    I grew up in LA so I’m self conscious as hell. I’ll probably wind up back at the derm’s office when the wrinkles set in lol.

    Thank you for sharing, Cindy. I am almost 20 years older than you, so anything takes a lot longer, and it is more about not getting worse than rejuvenating. I started my journey in 2019, when I was sick and for the first time ever watched a lot of RUclips derms and skin care folks who really opened my eyes. I was a soap and water gal, and while I used sunscreen, the recommendations for most of my life were SPF 15, and once a day. I started with basic skincare, tretinoin, high SPF sunscreen, and then went way down the rabbit hole with serums and stuff, and now am trying to get back to basics. ANYWAY, you should actually include your adorable haircut in your rejuvenation!!

      @beyond50skin  Год назад +3

      I agree with you in some respects. You are completely right. Bone-loss will continue and we can’t stop aging with topicals or treatment interventions, for that matter. Aging will progress.
      I think skincare is very helpful in preserving the vitality of skin and preventing photo-damage. It’s also important to attend to possible pre-cancerous lesions.
      Of course treatments are a nice bonus along the way but it can’t replace basic skincare & sun protection.
      As you wisely point out aging will continue regardless. We have to embrace & enjoy the process of well-aging and live life to the fullest in our best skin everyday.

    I’m 44 I am still getting mistaken for being in my late 20s but here I am researching as much as I can because, just like you said, in the video, you need to have a plan and financially things are expensive and you might have to save for them.
    I must say, I do like that your dermatologist informed you to first develop a good skin care routine as the first step… And now that’s making me realize I’m not even doing the basics yet of washing my face every single day. LOL😁
    I will admit when I do the double cleansing in the evening and I wake up with really good skin and I’m just staying at home working from home. I feel like my skin is still clean at the end of the day .

      @@beyond50skin I have a few devices, and they are very lonely! I have the Tria anti-aging laser (1440nm, non-ablative). It works-my cheeks and forehead looked airbrushed a bit! But…it’s a 12-week protocol (in the US) and it hurts once you get to the highest level. In Europe it’s an 8-week protocol so I channeled my inner-Irish girl and did that lol. I noticed a difference in about 60 days. I also have a Tripollar RF device, the Nira, and a NuFace, all of which I fail to use consistently. Hopefully your videos on devices will inspire me! 😆

      @@Sentimentalist0923 Unfortunately I don’t take before and after pictures (with the exception of tretinoin) and I can definitely share those! Before I stopped working I purchased a radio frequency tool, a NuFace, a Tria laser, a Nira laser, along with a derma roller every month. The radio frequency I have only used a few times so saw no results. The Tria laser improved the surface appearance of my skin-the surface looked smoother after 12 weeks. The Nira laser did absolutely nothing for me! The NuFace seems to give a VERY slight lift in the cheeks but this subsides with discontinued use. The dermaroller helps with fine lines and also helped with a bit of tightening/firming at the surface. The latter is the most effective for me but it’s also not for everyone. Hope that helps! ♥️

    I’m disturbed about this super expensive never ending treadmill that more and more women of all ages are hopping on to keep from looking like they’re aging. I’m currently reading a book by Justine Bateman called “Face: One Square Foot of Skin”. I wish more women realized the pressure that our culture is forcing upon us not to look like we’re aging at all (even though we all are). I’m 72 and going to 50 year college reunions. I’m surprised at what I see. Very few women’s faces have any wrinkles at all, and hardly any gray hair. The men all looked age appropriate. Hmmmmm.

      I’ve seen Justine promoting her book and I’m just going to be honest: she is aging so horribly that she actually sent the opposite message to me than what she intended. Each individual should age however they want, but let’s not pretend that she doesn’t look a good 20 years older than she is. Not every woman is ok with that and shouldn’t be judged for it.

I have done a lot of other treatments instead (microneedling, less abrasive peels, trenitoin) While I’m not regretting it, I just turned 51 and truly the other treatments were preventative from other damage, a one-a-done is what I’m looking for now for my scars which have improved.

    Filler really isn’t recommended under the eye area bc of the complication associated.
    In general you may want to look into Sculptra.

      Yes! I love Sculptra since your own body makes the collagen. There is some research pending about taking oral silica (precursor to Collagen production) when you have the Sculptra. It really gave me some nice volume-I may go for one more round. Best part is that it is lasts-doesn’t need yo be re-done like filler.❤❤

      Hello, and thank you for your cautionary message.💜 Under eye / tear trough filler (and filler in general) is being hotly debated by Cosmetic Dermatologists who for years were proponents for filler and now are reversing their opinions. They (especially plastic surgeons) are seeing increasing cases where over-use of filler is causing detrimental effects.
      I am planning an update to this video to address this topic. I am very appreciative that my provider (s) have only placed a very small amounts in strategic areas. This is where you need to trust your provider! I am very appreciative when doing my under eye rejuvenation my provider combined the treatment with PRF (platelet rich fibrin) and a few dissolvable smooth threads as opposed to over filling the area.

    Hello I don’t know if you will this comment since it’s 8 months since you posted this video, I have just found your channel and I appreciate your openness and willingness to share your experiences with us. I am soon to be 56 and am only just starting to get serious about my skincare routine, I have dabbled on and off over the years but I had super oily skin and I could not stand putting anything on my face, it seemed back then that everything I tried just made everything worse and oilier. No the gift that never stops giving aka menopause has changed everything!! I now have combination skin and sensitive skin, borderline rosacea. Products can behave beautifully for days then all of sudden I have a bright red nose or red chest and neck or all three!
    I have begun to plan / work towards Botox then fillers to start with. (I have set myself a rule that I can’t get any of these procedures done until I have proven that I can maintain my skincare routine) anyway all of this is to say that as I was doing my morning routine this morning I was lamenting at how thin my earlobes were becoming and certain earrings weren’t sitting so well, wondering if lip plumping products would have any effect on my earlobes?
    And now I’ve found you and this video. I have never heard anyone else say anything about filler for the earlobes and you have given me hope!! That probably sounds silly to most people worrying about earlobes but you truly have made my day!!! Thank you!

      Hi Maria, thank you for your question. First the CO2 laser treatment definitely helped. (See my B/A in that video). Also good hydrating skincare is a must. But I think all the small amounts of filler strategically placed in other areas of the face softened my whole look. The SmoothGlo treatments are also making a subtle change. The problem with nasal labial fold filler is it makes nasal label folds protrude (looking odd as most faces at any age typically have folds there) when they are filled they catch light & you see the bumps. It wasn’t subtle. Lol!

    All I can say is that all those procedures have to be constantly maintained at a rate of every 2-3 months. Many offices will say that they will last a year, but I’m here to tell you that’s bull crap! Dishing out 800 dollars every 3 months is too much for me. Also, the fillers will only stretch your already non elastic skin further causing more wrinkles when the fillers wears off. I had Botox on my chin and I find my chin contracts like a Charlie horse when ever I wipe the area 😞. I believe if you want a permanent look, a face lift is the only way to go and in the long run most cost effective. The surgeon must specialize in face lifts and do them more than 7 x a week. This is my experience…

    • @beyond50skin
      @beyond50skin  2 года назад +2

      Thank you for your comment and contributing to this discussion. This is a nuanced decision and multi-factorial as aging includes emotional and physical health choices as well. Everyone's journey will be unique.
      Your point is very well taken. A face lift is possibly the more cost effective route in the long run and achieves a more permanent look. To be honest the abrupt a change in facial appearance from a surgical intervention would have been too much for me at one time. Also when I started my journey seven years ago I was recovering from a complicated/unrelated medically necessary surgery. I was not in a financial nor emotional place to undergo facial plastic surgery. I was just looking for a subtle change (a pick-me-up). Taking the much longer road to accomplish my goals was more financially and emotionally the right choice for me.
      I am sorry about your experience with botox. That sounds very uncomfortable. I will, as you point out, have to keep up in-office treatments over the years as they do "wear off" at varying times and certainly do not stop the aging process. I'm not completely ruling out plastic surgery, but I'm still definitely not ready. Per my research the cost for an excellent surgeon who specializes and performs surgeries daily is ~100K to 120K in the US. I've often found they want to include laser and other in-office treatments as well because surgery does not improve pigmentation, texture, nor fully address all volume loss which all contribute to facial aging.
      I wish each and every one happiness no matter their approach to their pro-aging journey.

    • @cv7958
      @cv7958 Год назад +2

      People seem to have this assumption that a facelift is a replacement for nearly all non surgical rejuvenation treatments and that’s simply not true. A facelift does not even out the skin tone like ablative/non-ablative lasers do, it does not stimulate collagen like lasers, tretinoin, and Sculptra do (spf to protect the collagen you have) etc. It does not relax the wrinkles in the forehead or crows feet. It does not volumes the cheeks/temples unless fat grafting is included in the face lift. What it can replace is Ultherapy/thermage, threads because it addresses sagging. There are multiple components to an aging face: skin tone/texture, sag and volume loss. You don’t hit one boiler point and think it hits all 3. This is akin to people thinking they can spend all their money on Botox/fillers and they don’t quite look as young as those that use lasers/proper skincare as well. Botox doesn’t address sun spots etc.

    I'm a 60 year old man with fair skin and lots of sun damage and brown spots, pre cancers and scars from acne and getting pre cancers frozen off at the veterans hospital. They don't care and won't treat you for cosmetics at the veterans hospital. I had two Fraxel Repair laser treatments at the VA but I realize that I need a ablative laser treatment "one and done" like you. How much did your ablative laser treatment cost when you had it done? Does the ablative laser help the acne scars? My doctor told me I look 70.

      @beyond50skin  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Thanks for sharing your journey. Apologies for my delayed response.
      I'm not a dermatologist of course. However, ablative lasers are designed to resurface the skin... I can't see why you wouldn't get a nice improvement. Acne scars (esp box car scaring) seem to be the biggest challenge. I think the deeper box care scaring requires treatment in addition to laser, but as I say I'm no expert and don't have any experience with acne scars.
      I had multiple Fraxel treatments for surgical scar which have improved, but not eliminated it. As far as cost I went to UCSF Dermatology in CA and the cost was 4,500. But more importantly you need to find a highly experience provider. I did that and my healing was still arduous with complications. I did a video on my year long recovery experience. ruclips.net/video/Oly4enDeSIw/видео.html
      Happy to answer any additional questions I can.
      Good luck on your journey and if you feel comfortable sharing keep the group updated on how things go Best Wishes💜

    Your video was great! I'm saddened that you mentioned that your threadlift hurt really bad. We do these in clinic all the time and you should not have any real discomfort to speak of. Threads cover a plethora of issues, and they actually should be incorporated into a skin rejuvenation journey. When placed strategically and with particular threads (double twisted), they can provide volume and tightening without giving one that "pillow face" that many patients get from demanding filler too often. You are correct in stating that fillers last much longer than what was use to be thought. Threads can also help with post acneic scarring or general scaring as well. We completely numb our patients with Lidocaine/epi injections, so no pain when doing barbed threadlifts.
    Fillers, when placed in the proper places, can provide a bit of lifting of the cheek thus this helps diminish the look of our nasolabial folds. A place where many folks forget to address is the temporal area. As we age, we get bone loss as well as fat depletion, so the temples must be treated. We use Sculptra, a bio stimulator, and this provides a lovely, natural look. You are correct in saying we must look at the entire face, neck, and decolletage. Another helpful tip in your skin rejuvenation journey, placing Botox near the DAO(Depressor Anguli Oris, can lift the muscles near the lower lip and actually help with the pulling downward of the lower face. Another tip, treatment of the platysmal bands are a must if one is past 40 yrs of age, the muscles in our neck, over time with contraction, start to actually pull down on our lower face. Hope this helps a bit!

      Sorry for the delayed in replying.
      Thank you for watching and leaving such a wonderful detailed comment. I truly appreciate it. The fact that so few of your clients experience pain/discomfort with threads is very encouraging for those who want to try them. I guess it comes down to one's individual experience. One side was completely painless just felt "funny" ... I could sort of feel them for three weeks. The other side was achy for about the same time. I was definitely impressed with the volume though & NO pillowface lol. So cool to know threads help with acne and general scaring!!
      I have loved all my filler experiences except NLF. Agreed that small amounts in strategic locations gives a subtle lift. I didn't notice a big change with temple filler but I wonder if it just gave such a soft subtle affect that it was hard for me to tell 🤔. I may notice it more as it dissipates. Everyone keeps recommending Sculptra. I was hesitant when I read about it because I had so much volume loss I wasn't sure it would be a good enough bang for my buck. Perhaps as a maintenance treatment it would be just perfect?
      I have tried but not kept up platysmal botox. I may have to give that another go & will mention the anuli oris toxin placement next visit :) Thank you SOOOOOO much for all your tips. Your comments and suggestions are going to be amazingly helpful to the group. I appreciate you taking the time to give us your top tips!! 💜

      @@beyond50skin Thank you for your reply. I wanted to add that your beautiful white hair and nice facial angles of your face....drew me to watch your video! I'm an advanced medical aesthetician and faces, to me, are like a canvases, and I love helping others reach their facial aesthetic goals and to guide them to a healthy and proper skincare journey. So many clients, initially, feel that skincare and treatments are a "one and done" scenario 😳. I have to basically reprogram their mindset regarding our journey with skincare and optimal health!
      Regarding Sculptra, we do this in clinic too! It's absolutely one of my favorite bio stimulators.. This and even Radiesse, are classified as bio Stimulators because like all the different threads(pdo, plla, pcl).....Radiesse and Sculptra work with your own body’s response. That being said, you may want to delve into the "bio stimulator route" because like you, I have a petite face and have a difficult time hanging onto fat. Yes, bio stimulators are a bit pricey but in the long run, you are actually saving because they do not get reabsorbed like Hyaluronic acid fillers.
      Yes, again, you should NOT be in pain with threads. I had a client that was mortified of them because of her past experience like you. Once I treated her, she then learned that the previous practitioner, did not provide proper lido/epi injections to assure a pleasant experience with threads.
      Again, you caught my attention , initially, aesthetically, because of your stunning features. If there is anything I can answer for you or your followers, I'd be delighted to answer.

    • @beyond50skin
      @beyond50skin  Год назад +3

      Hi Rhonda, the change in NLF is a combination of: CO2 laser, small filler in the NLF (which protruded too much for months but dissipated thank goodness - my dermatologist who did this was not a cosmetic derm - it’s not typically recommended in the NLF) a touch of filler along the cheek & jaw lines (posterior triangle by the mandible gives very subtle appearance of lift) and yes the threads contributed to a softening of the NLF, not because they “lifted”, but because they gave my face a fuller appearance by slowing building collagen (I’m presuming).
      Sorry this was such a long winded answer 🤪 to your question but I don’t want to give the impression that one particular treatment was the solution. It was man small subtle changes that softened & filled out my mid face. Hope this helps.

    Thank you! I enjoyed this and it was so informative. I’ve just had my 2nd of 3 (package) Morpheus8 treatment. I will be having IPL and Botox when I heal up from my 3rd M8 treatment. I will want to do something for maintenance. They recommend a M8 yearly for maintenance. I am having mine done by an experienced aesthetician in my doctor’s office, ie good anesthesia by the Dr so no pain. Idk how people can do M8 with only pain gel for anesthesia!😳😳😳
    I’ve had fillers 10-11 years ago (no more but the most judicious use of filler will I do any more) and did Botox/ Dysport and had the Pearl Fractional laser in my late 40’s and began using retin A/Tretinoin in my early to mid 40’s (I’m now 63). I kind of fell off of the Tretinoin train about 6-7 years ago because my post menopausal skin rebelled against it after all those years(!) of using it. I’ve tried it off and on since and my skin has become so sensitive and similar to yours have the redness which my Dermatologist calls rosacea (caused by sensitivity). She tells me to use the sandwich method and that hasn’t really helped. A few weeks before my first M8 (which is micro-needling w/ RF in case you didn’t know) one should discontinue “actives” for several weeks but about a week before I stopped the Tretinoin I did the sandwich method and I also mixed the Tretinoin with my Cereve nighttime moisturizer before applying and that seemed to not inflame my skin quite as much. I had the not so unexpected mild flaking rather than peeling like a snake. I however still was a bit red. When I’m through with M8 I think I’ll use less still and mix more moisturizer. I will have to ease back into it. Sorry this was so long ! Yikes!
    PS I’ve never heard about filler in the earlobes before! That is BRILLIANT! I’ve been distressed about my droopy and deflated earlobes for several years-seemed to have happened overnight!

My dermatologist described it as "more structural" I misunderstood that to mean it wouldn't break down as easily. However I spoke with her since then and now I understand that Restylane Lyft is not a permanent filler, just thicker. Again my apologies for mis-speaking. I wish RUclips allowed a way to make corrections!! 😕
      My jowls are not several years later starting to droop again. However I am glad I didnt do permanent filler. I dont plan to get more as I dont want to add too much and get a squared off lower jawline. I am considering a more permaent solution. Which I will be discussing later in the year. Cheers, Cindy

    Hi Cindy, great and informative video. Thank youj. Quick question...Did you have Co2 or Urbium Yag Resurfacing? I am scheduled for Urbium Yag and wondering if this is the route to go. Same issues as yourself. Also, I have been quoted $ 7,500. for full face and neck. Does that seem like a fair quote to you? Thanks in advance for your reply. Janie

    • @beyond50skin
      @beyond50skin  Год назад

      Hi, had Erbium YAG ablative laser… I may have missed spoken in the video … did I? It took a while for me to learn and understand the difference…
      (erbium YAG heats the skin at a lower temperature than CO2….so in my understanding it has less complications) That quote seems fair for a full face and neck. Honestly, I wish I done that too
      and asked them adjust the depth a long the brow and the neck and a décolletage (But at the time I didn’t know any better)
      Personally, I would have a long hard talk with your provider about the depth that you want to go …that you don’t want to have anyone but him perform the procedure, no students etc. … you’re worried about scarring and track lines etc. and If so ….that you’d rather perhaps have a less intense treatment and a follow up Fraxel … as opposed to one that could or may cause scarring … again they are the experts, but I think my fair skin had something to do with it. I don’t know what your skin tone & integrity are like.
      If you’re comfortable keep the group posted on your experience.
      This is a great forum for sharing. I don’t allow any negativity or judgment (those comments are deleted).
      I look forward to hearing about your treatment if you choose to proceed. Wishing you a wonderful day and thanks again for watching & sharing .💕💜

    Hi Cindy, first I want to say you look phenomenal. I’m so sad because Ive always took great care of my skin. I’m 55. I’ve done Botox for the last 16 years and all of sudden last year it stopped working on me. I believe I’ve developed antibodies to it. I’m getting wrinkles now and not happy. I talked to a plastic surgeons office and they’re going to do a Co2 laser on me in another 4,weeks. She said that would help with some of the wrinkles I’m now getting in my 11’s. I was also using retin A but haven’t lately. By the way I’ve done tons of threads through out the years. and threw tons of money away through out the years. It’s a waste of time. lasts a few weeks after spending $2000 a pop! 😮

    • @beyond50skin
      @beyond50skin  2 года назад +1

      Hi Beth, that is so kind. Wow, that sounds incredibly frustrating about the Botox. I had longer benefits from the threads but won’t do them again. Agreed, not worth the money or discomfort. Good luck on your CO2. I know the group would love to hear how it goes….so keep up posted. And feel free to reach out if you need some support those first few days are rough :) 💜

      Thank you! I will! I heard of this procedure called thermirase. It sounds a little invasive but I don’t care. It’s a current that temporarily destroys the nerves between the brows and in the forehead like Botox works. I’m going to see a dr that does it after the Co2 laser. The only problem is you can’t do it around your eyes or bunny lines.

    Would you recommend microneedling for deep wrinkles on sides of face when I smile? Spa recommends and also recommends threads.
    I also have dark spots and tried BBL but didn’t do much. I have all devices you have and my journey started way too late. Just turned 60.

    • @beyond50skin

      @@choney8125 It’s ironic you’re asking about microneedling because I’m in the middle of editing a Microneedling video..I haven’t talked about it long time.
      In my opinion, Microneedling is something you have to maintain because we’re constantly losing collagen and elastin so we’re just trying to either keep up or possibly get ahead a little bit.
      In my experience, it smoothed out fine lines and slightly reduced the look of pigmentation; but if you have deep lines, I think you might be disappointed .
      I honestly don’t think it’s too late at 60, not at all… . It’s just going take longer & multiple treatments over time to get significant results.
      What kind of treatments have you tried so far? Hello.

      @@beyond50skin hi, I have on done BBL for dark spots and nothing but products for wrinkles. The thread procedure they recommend is just for collagen production not the lift ones. I’ve been looking at the Dr. Pen to do my own thing but not sure what’s best.
