i think the most efficient way would be to pyrolyze the fish and turn it into charcoal and then use that charcoal to run a coal powered steam engine. you should also be able to burn the fish gas that comes off from pyrolyzing to get extra power. i've seen people do this with bees to make bee charcoal and create heat during the winter

Maybe instead of putting a harness on the fish, just put a net around the tube and have the fish push against a soft net. Or, have a soft mesh net around the fish inside the tube, that way the pulling force is applied evenly around the fish and will be less likely to hurt or hinder them.

If the harness was attached to the bottom of the pipe as well as the top, it would work better, as the harness makes them turn upwards when they want to swim fast. But also, I think having a small net on the front of each pipe, with a hole just large enough for their snout to fit through would work best instead of a harness. That way their head would be fixed into the net and they could swim semi-freely without the obstruction of the harness.

If they can't fake that, they'll try to sabotage his inventions. Pretty sure they already made a move and tampered with the one fish that escaped the harness.
A few ideas for improvement: 1) Use a net that fits around the fish (leaving their faces, gills, and fins free to work) to more effectively hold them. 2) Make the tubes a few inches longer and put netting "doors" on them. If the fish "slip their traces", they'll still be contained. 3) For steering, you want the "fish yoke" to be mounted on a swivel under the tongue. Then mount a crossbar to the bow of the boat. Mount pulleys on the end of the crossbar. Run ropes out from where you sit, through the pulleys, and then forward to the "fish yoke". This should give you enough leverage to point them in the direction you wish. Good luck with version 1.1!
Since they've got the tube, they could probably ditch the harness altogether. Just make the tube narrow enough that the fish can't turn around, and put meshing over the ends so the fish can't escape.

. The current unlimited water speed record is 511.11 km/h (317.59 mph), achieved by Australian Ken Warby in the Spirit of Australia on 8 October 1978. I couldn't find any fish-powered water speed record, but it would be fitting if another Australian held that speed record as well.
Barramundi are native to Australia. Their usual range is a little further north of Sydney which I believe is where IDAT is from but they absolutely aren't invasive in that region. They don't live there because it's not preferable not because it's an environment they've never previously been able to reach.
But it's so near to their original habitat that predators roam there too. So it's unlikely to become a plague situation. Also, probably those fish are all female
More that he couldn't turn them on demand. The fish were just swimming in random directions and that was spinning the boat around. Nothing he was doing was making them do that

This is easily the safest thing he's done
Man props for literally harnessing fish, the slipperiest thing since politicians. 😂 since the fish came from captivity, it's a good idea to vriefly quarantine them in the tank and twst for any random fungal infections or potential parasites before releasing to gen pop where it could wipe out the regulars.
7:33 I think fish are supposed to sink.
fish are supposed to remain neutrally buoyant. a sinking or floating fish are both problems
Yay he uploaded

This is the best thing I've ever seen
. The current unlimited water speed record is 511.11 km/h (317.59 mph), achieved by Australian Ken Warby in the Spirit of Australia on 8 October 1978.
I couldn't find any fish-powered water speed record, but it would be fitting if another Australian held that speed record as well.
And that’s how he introduced the fish to a new habitat
lets hope they arent invasive
I believe he released them into the same area they came from or are native to
Barramundi are native to Australia.
This is like Paul Atreides learning to ride the sandworm
This is how I assume mythology was invented. Imagine seeing this living on an island in the Mediterranean in Ancient Greece/Rome.
0:30 I was fully expecting something like a, "I was trying to reach you about your..." You know the words.
Or "I'm from the Australian Tax Office, we have some queries about your 2022 tax return."
Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out how many fish I’d need to cross the pacific for ages now.
do how many whales next
I dont think gacha game players can swim

15:40 "But I still couldn't turn them" He says as actively turning them almost 360° 😂
More that he couldn't turn them on demand. The fish were just swimming in random directions and that was spinning the boat around. Nothing he was doing was making them do that
You know what? I support it. More ethical than actual chariots xd
I want to say this is probably the first ducted fish powered vehicle.
What an awesome intro, although the cop-stripper was your funniest ever!
I was thinking aboyt this one the other day. I just cannot remember which video it's in

A Wels Catfish would have made for a great propulsion: they are big, extremely resistant and good propulsion! They tend to be slippery though
7:45 tfw the bait - lunch bit was already good, and the madman takes it a step further by actually eating the bait (seemingly)
its just dried mealworms he did eat them
