A finger breaks at about 1480 newtons of force and a large mudcrab can exert up to about 3300 newtons. A typical adult femur which is the strongest bone requires about 4000 newtons of force so a mudcrab could almost break your leg if it could get it's claw around it. But that's crushing force

For those who are curious: the 740lb number comes from the strongest pinch scientists recorded off a coconut crab.
A crab can, on average, pinch up to 20 times their weight. The number may vary wildly too.
I noticed the coconut crab too those things are terrifying
it seems like a faulty measurement. He modified the grip scale and I think because the range of motion on the scale was lessened, it couldn't be squeezed as hard.
@@PartyItUp4EverMud crabs are not as powerful as Coconut crabs and 30kg seems about right. A mate of mine had his toe squeezed by a big muddy and it did draw blood. 30kg pressure is potentially only spread across a tiny area as their claws are knobbed and caught between two knobs with 30kg is a lot.

It takes some getting used to, but there are literal Olympic runners who are also missing toes or their entire leg for that matter. It’s a cultural myth that was started when the draft happened in the US, anyone that has any part of their foot, including toes, amputated is ineligible for military service and exempted from the draft. So some people decided to shoot their toes off. They were just fine after recovery.

Watching a mudcrab while Kafka's theme is in the background is a surreal, life-changing experience. Sasuga I-did-a-thing sama!
One thing to note is that chicken bone (and other bird bones) are hollow unlike mammal bones, this is why birds are so light and can fly. Probably makes it a lot easier to cut through chicken bones than human bones.
People can in some parts of the world regularly eat the bones in a grilled whole chicken with some vigorous chewing. Can't imagine a human eating mammalian bones of that size.
Bird bones are hollow to expand lung capacity, being lighter is just a byproduct
Chicken bones (like all bird bones) Are also far denser than mammal bones, the primary function of their hollow bones is not to make them lighter but to expand their respiratory system.
