Great info.. mentoring would be something I would love, so maybe someone could help change my writing from traditional to more mainstream....got the ideas but unable to make them right...thanks for posting
I did this same thing ! Did an 8 song CD in 2008 with pictures and all. It was expensive. Looking back the songs were junk. When someone tells me they are listening to it I cringe . I had one song the local bar put in their juke box where I was from . It did have a good melody but very mediocre lyrics . My buddies would always play it when we went to the bar. They were so proud. Very good info . Some studios will say WOW good stuff just to get your money
When songs are pitched to artists, is having a high quality demo make a real difference? Maybe I’m a little ignorant, but if I may top artist looking for songs to cut, the last thing I’m listening for is the song with the best quality.
There are lots of factrs..who is doing the listening. Producer? A&R? Artist? They all listen differently. then there is genre. Country wants stripped down, less produced demos often. Pop and sync oftwn want a master or near master recording. Also piano ballads don't need as much production as an uptempo groove song. etc, etc ~CM

Dang Marty. What you say between 4:30 and 5:16 is gold. Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Sounds like everything in Publishing is a "LOAN" They are not giving you money because you are talented. Thx Clay & Marty, very interesting.
Yes, a draw that is later recouped.

ive decided to use reverse psychology to get a record deal telling it i dont want one,,,
my aunt claimed to have a degree in reverse psychology,,,but she could never,,,back,,, it up,,,
Be your own publisher til they can do for you what you can't do for youself.
smart!
