Every Picture Tells a Story was my first LP purchase when I went up to uni in 1971. Every track was great then & they still are. This one & Maggie May became some of the great musical highlights of those tremendous years of freedom, friendship & happy, carefree times
I saw Lindisfarne in Philadelphia at Irvine Auditorium, University of Pennsylvania 1974. I remember as a young musician at the time being influenced by them and other bands at the time like Fairport Convention. A time of great synthesis from folk, rock, psychedelic, country, and other creative cross-influences. Thanks for posting this video.
@@LaughingSpamFritter1 so what you are saying is that because John Peel played Mandolin on top of the pops he must have also played it on Rod Stewart’s album too - even though on the sleeve of that album it says it was the “guy from Lindisfarne” - that reality?
@dirtydawg448 No, the opposite. Peel feigned playing mandolin on TOTP. Nowhere have I referred to Peel playing or feigning mandolin on this song. Try to keep up.
Yes Ray Jacka Jackson (that's him singing & playing on the video) lead singer mandolin and harmonic player with Lindisfarne still playing music now at 75 yrs of age
Seen them live last night for the first time ever, just brilliant!!
I saw them at Essex uni in the seventies when they were a bunch of freaks , not the clip on you tube but most excellent
Hi remember seeing at Birmingham town hall fantastic live 1972
Ant heard this in a long while great song

Being from the NE of England and having my folks play they’re music in my childhood makes them so special ❤️

Ray Jackson, the singer here, played mandolin on Rod Stewart's Maggie May.
What a talent guy. Just wonderful !
As opposed to Radio 1 DJ John Peel who 'played' mandolin on their TOTP appearance. 😂
@@LaughingSpamFritter1how is that “opposed”
@@dirtydawg448 Reality as "opposed" to fiction.
