I just did this and I feel you on the old-style connectors. I just made up a cable to run across my house to an office because the wifi is unreliable through the wall. One of the terminals I had to redo because some of the wires didn't make it all the way to the end. Had to lop off the Cat6 and do it over. If I had to do a lot of these I would buy your tool. Thanks for the video.
When working with Cat6 cables, use a Cat6 connector
Have no more than 0.5 centimeter of wire untwisted
Those open-ending connectors will definitely help with keeping the length of untwisted wire as short as possible, as it's always a hassle to keep the cables nice and flat with you fingers when you only have 0.5cm of wire.
Cat6(a) connectors often come with a cable guide clamp, these keep your wires in the correct order and flat before you put them in the connector, that helps a lot
Yea. He used cat5 connector for a cat6 cable. Would never work.
I have done a couple cables without the EZ connectors and keeping the wires flat and in the right order when they are short can drive some people insane. At least with the EZ connectors you can have as much wire as you are comfortable working with and cut off all the excess later. With the EZ connectors you still have to keep the wires in the right order and straight. If that isn't bad enough I know some dimwit who thinks you have to strip the ends of the wires. I guess he just likes to make everything difficult because that step is unheard of for ethernet cables.

But it **does** work. It's not **right** and I even stated that in the video. It's what I had at the time.
you may use the small piece uf jacket you took out at the very beggining of your video. This mau help you to untwist every pair of cables. i learned this froma a couple of experienced guys some days ago...
I've just found these tonight and what a gift, I simply can't get the old plugs to fit correctly, to do 1 right 25 fail, this is a massive game changer for me, a real good video but a continuity test at the end would be welcome to see if the old connection passes or fails, fails mostly cheers from AUS
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Ahmad Davis instablaster ;)
@Toby Wade i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Toby Wade it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my ass !
@Ahmad Davis Glad I could help =)
You can take the piece you stripped off and twist it into the pair to unravel. I'm not sure if this makes sense via a post but that's how I do it..
A flat head tweaker is faster

A couple of drops of superglue in the back, little extra strong security 😎
Love and hate this tool and connectors. If you use different types of brands of cable be sure to check the pins are all seated. The main brand I use has tough inner conductor coating. After I cut the wires I always check the pins. 50% of the time I have to grab my other crimper to seat all the pins. Never have a problem with cat 5e. Just some cat 6 cables brands of bulk cable.
Ez Rj45 pass through plugs ideally for Cat6 / Cat6acable
Easy crimp

This is my daily job... Thanks bro
Any tips you have please feel free to share. I do this about once every year or so. lol
Use the casing that was removed to open up the pairs
Use a small flat blade jeweler's screw driver to separate the pairs. Works a treat!
Is there a video ?
Using cat5e connectors on a cat6 cable lowers the standard of the cable to a cat5e. Use cat6 connectors with cat6 cables to ensure you are getting your money's worth.
The connector makes absolutely no difference whatsoever
Cable makes the difference, not the connector.
If this was a certified installation, it would fail for sure. Luckily it's just for our house.
Can I use CAT6 connectors with CAT5e cables? Thanks!
Yes.
I made the switch to the EZ connectors too. Trying to keep half inch wires in the correct order can be frustrating. If the cable twists you have to start over and recheck the order the wires are in. With the EZ connectors you can have the wires as long as you want them to make it easier. I wonder how many network administrators have horrible cramps in their hands after a day or two of terminating cables.
Why do other people use extra steps like use that copper tape at the end of the connector etc then use shrink wrap at the end of the connector .
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but it sounds like you may be talking about shielded cable, which is usually used in industrial / high noise environment.
I've been looking for good cable for in wall use. Are you sure that cable you left a link too is real copper and not the cheap crap? I've read tones of reviews of people saying there have been a lot of wire's saying they are in wall rated and real copper but they are really not they are CCA cable not full copper.
I've checked it under a microscope and at the time I bought the cable it appears to be solid copper. I will say this, I've seen cases where somehow a seller on Amazon will sell something under the same link / same brand but it's nothing like the original. It can definitely be a crap shoot. I've had a situation where I've re-ordered out of my history and what was delivered was nothing like the original.
good video
Is the order you put the colors in the only order to do it in or does it work the same as long as you have the same color order on each end.
you need to have the same color but there's a guide or stander ed you have to do. A or B you have to do one or the other.
I'm by far an expert, but the order can matter as pins 3 and 6 are the same cable pair to eliminate cross-talk. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANSI/TIA-568 goes into more detail there. I have always followed Annex B (green pair is pins 3/6 vs orange) of the standard (because that's just what everyone else has done where I've worked). I find most cables are done to Annex B.
Outstanding vid! Tnx for this.

now only using cat 8 for all my installs. Future proofing for my installs
i'm using CAT-10 now... checkmate! haha
@@1projectaweek dang it foiled again!!! LOL
Fantastic
Here's a video showing the method of using the sheath to untwist the pairs. Go to 2:40 ruclips.net/video/JkURSOngSRo/видео.html
that...is awesome!

Kiss your warranty goodbye with those. Avoid these at all costs. Especially with crestron/ubiquiti/wyrestorm ect. Use flush ends.
Got any more detail on that? First I've heard of it being an issue.
What a terrible recommendation! Avoid these at all costs, you'll run into shorting issues.
Plus, lots of incorrect information...
I used some and found that when plugging in PoE devices the bare ends of the cut conductors would spark, short-out and burn on the shielding of the socket if you were not careful.
The crimp tool was excellent though, and worked with normal connectors well.
@@JohnWatkinsUK that's right, they're terrible. You're much better off using two piece connectors/connectors with a load bar.
I couldn't really care less about the tool, I could probably find a better one for the price.
The only reason you'll have issues is If you don't use the specified tool for the EZ crimp and cut or doing something else wrong..
@@lowvpro9651 No, it's literally because how the connectors are designed. What did you think would happen by having exposed copper ends flush with the connector's end?
Alexandre Botelho true 😂😂👌🏼
The best way to crimp RJ45 plugs onto cables is don't. Buy patch cords.
So many talk
such talk, wow.
EZ-RJ45 Used by amateurs the world over!! Absolute junk!!
Based on what? been running them for a few years now with no issues. And, it **IS** for amateurs, I **am** an amature. LOL
If you use the portion of the jacket you removed and slide it over the. pairs you can separate the pairs fast and easy.
Not gonna work with shielded cables thhey are a nightmare and also the part for rejoining the wires and put them together with the same line is really hard
A flat head precision tweaker is the fastest way to untwist and straighten them
A flat head what?
So you need that special crimp tool .I have an old Klein Tool will that work or not ?
You can use a regular crimper on the pass through plugs, you just need a flush cutter to cut the wire ends that are sticking out even with the end of the plug after. I do it with a regular Klein like you have and (just a coincidence) the little red and black handle flush cutters he has in the video here.
They make a terminator for the end to just snap in the wall plate no punch down
So, you spent extra money for CAT6 cable, but cheaped out and bought CAT5 RJ45's... you're defeating the purpose of buying the CAT6 cable. The CAT5 RJ45's don't have the load bar in them.
I spent the money for what was put in the wall, which if you're going to cheap out that's the best way to do it. In any case, it wasn't a situation of "cheaping out" it was about what was available at the time I needed it. At the time, the proper jacks were back-ordered. If it's a problem, simple fix at a later date.
I’ve used IDEAL standard and Tyco AMP crimpers for 20 years but I like your comparison how on EZ RJ all 8 wires make it through in correct order and how the jacket always gets compressed.
Yeah, a true professional will probably have no problem doing it the other way. Just for us weekend warriors, this makes it dead simple.
Never use cat5 connectors for cat6 cables or vice verse
What might happen?
Where can I get these wire through cat5 RJ45 connectors?

Why are you using cat 5e connectors instead of cat 6 connectors in a cat 6 cable ? does it matter? do you loose speed in an office complex? very good video and well explained thank you
The main reason was..its what Amazon had in stock at the time for next day delivery. In reality I was terminating cables for my IP cameras which all run at 100mbit, I wasn't too concerned about there being an issue since my data rates would be much lower than what a proper CAT-6 termination requires. At the end of the day, I doubt you'd see a major difference. However, if I was doing this for pay, I would definitely use the proper CAT-6 jacks.
I actually got both 5e and 6 connectors mixed up. Wasn't paying attention and I combined them in a container. I tried my hardest to determine if there was a difference between them. I'm pretty sure the pins are exactly the same. Thickness wise. The only difference I can tell is the cat 6 is slightly larger by 1mm at the main insert hole to allow the thicker cat 6 cable jacket to fit. The pin holes at the end are the same diameter in the website description. Also the strain relief I hate makes all cables slightly thicker so the cat 6 jackets would be easier with cables with strain relief. At the end of the day I only own a $500 Fluke meter to test continuity and not the 5-10k meter to see if there is a difference in speed.
What I have learned in my 20 yrs doing this. There are 2 types of installers for 2 types of clients. 1) The fast construction type that get it done well working in conjunction with other trades. The bidders wars world. 2) The specialist type that charge an arm and a leg and deal with a very special type of client. 90% of the clients don't care about the speed differences between cat 5e and cat 6. They just want employees to answer emails and phones. They are kind of in the right. Typical office work never uses cat 6 to its potential. You get into long runs up to 300 ft, cross talk, yada yada. Now you are talking differences. Big spaces like that you start running fiber to multiple server rooms, etc. You as a moral contractor will sell them what they need. Not the best. Give them the best within their budget. I would love to be a #2 but sadly have fallen in the #1 slot. I make good money pulling 3-5 thousand drops a yr. It just takes a toll on the body.
It matters. Cat 5 connector would not work in cat 6 cable. I've tried it myself
do you have an ethernet/lan rj45 and rj11 tester?
I have one that just checks continuity, nothing that actually certifies the cable though.
I could not have said it better!
Good Job
Thankx Bro
Really helpful, thank you
Use the jacket removed at the start to untwist the pairs. You first separate the start of the pairs a small amount, then insert the jacket and twist it opposite if the wire twist direction and the wires will separate.
Great idea!
You just downgraded a cat 6 cable to cat 5 with a cat 5 connector.
A risk I'm willing to accept... For what it's worth, running it this way for a couple of years now and 0 errors on the ethernet counters...
@@1projectaweek I understand, but then why not buy cat. 5 cable? Thats dirt cheap.
This tool is bad, use straight-X type
What's bad about it?
