    Reminds me of being very young (7, 8 or 9 maybe) with the whole family parked all over the TV room (floor, chairs, couch, leaning over the back of a chair, etc. all watching a 19" or 20" B&W TV until we got a color set in 1965 or 66. Time flies, does it not?

      The Jules1003 Do you remember a show called "Rango" ? It would've been around 1966. I was 6 years old then, and Tim Conway played a Marshal or a Sheriff of a typical Western Town. I don't remember much, but I remember my Mother telling me that the show was cancelled and I was sad because I used to look forward to it every week. I'm pretty sure it aired on Friday nights. I still remember a cover to TV GUIDE, with RANGO on it, wearing his badge with the circle and star. I never thought to look that show up. I just thought of it now, when you mentioned Tim Conway's other shows.

    I remember waiting in anticipation for this show to come on Everytime! Just like Hogan's heroes, Rat patrol, land of the Giants, night gallery, outer limits and many others! It's funny because most young folk today wouldn't get the comedy or content of these programs. I'm not a prude but I think why these shows did so well is because parents could watch them with their kids and not have to explain uncomfortable questions. After homework was done and an hour of reading mom would make popcorn drizzled with butter and we would watch show's until 9pm bedtime. I sure miss those days!

      Some of the scenes and scenarios we see in theses episodes are mildly funny however as a 25 year NAVY veteran, I can't help but think that the writers of these episodes had no clue about the NAVY or NAVY life in general (even during WW II).
      For comedy to be really funny, there has to be some semblance of reality. McHale's Navy had none.

      Blush it. Maybe they were killed but there was not a lot of gory detail or emphasis. It was about the war right? What a joke... it doesn’t even compare to the sewage they have on the today!

    What is sad is at the end of the war our navy rather than ship these boats home burned them all. That’s why you don’t see PT boat memorials.

      @@tarzanignatiusjones1644 While 'all' is an exaggeration, that was the fate of very many if not most. I remember seeing one in a marina on Oahu circa 1995. It was painted white and of course, stripped of arms, but it was unmistakably a PT.

      Not true in the early 70's seen one that was converted into a commercial salmon boat. In fact a few yrs later my dad and a friend went to look at a couple in San Francisco that was probably up for auction dont remember to convert to a salmon troller, didn't happen though boats were to far gone and stripped of everything. One other thought the one that was a salmon boat was refurbished and bought at auction stripped down minus engines.

    • @waynelast1685
      @waynelast1685 4 года назад

      Probably most of them but not all pt boats. It was difficult or expensive to bring home most likely.
