- McHale's Navy Full Episodes: Season 1x05 | "Movies Are Your Best Diversion"
McHale and the 73 crew avert an attack on a Navy convoy, by employing a clever plan involving John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, and Errol Flynn.
As a boy in the 1970's this was my favorite tv show rerun to watch! I actually joined the Navy reserves as a Master at Arms and ran all the parties on base. Sneaking in dancers from the local Go Go bar made my parties a massive hit, we even had the neighboring Marine VMFA guys join them and we all had a blast! Brings back great memories of better days.
I miss these old sitcoms. Even though most of them have gone, these shows still bring them to life
It is really nice watching the oldies, especially when there are NO commercials
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk(k(kkkkkkkkkkkkkk(kkkkk(kkk(kk(kkkkkk(

In addition to the great regular cast Mako was always a great guest actor.
This wouldn't be allowed on tv now. It's too good!
I used watch these as a kid back in the 60's when they were new shows.
Sean Thornton brings me back to that time.
Yep!!! And the reruns in syndication 1967-73 in Bay Area anyway

Hilarious!!
Toshiro Mfune as the Japanese signal soldier is great...a legend
Didn't see Mifune there, only Mako, in one of his earlier appearances on television.
@@jessfrankel5212 Yes, that's right. The great Makoto Iwamatsu (or Mako for us here), who almost won an Oscar for his role in The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen. I also saw John Mamo and Lloyd Kino, who were credited because they had speaking roles. Fine actors all. Mako guested on MNavy many times. Leon Lontoc (the Chief) was of Filipino heritage.
What a great episode.
God bless you all.
@ 8:00 Captain Binghamton says Humphrey Bogart would of made a great Navy man.
Humphrey Bogart was a real Navy man serving in WW1.. lol
Okay, the opening gag was very good.
'30 seconds over tokyo' was released in 1944.... would be interesting to figure out when it might have made it out to the Pacific
Excellent episode !
I could just scream!
When he said "deck hands" I thought he said 'dick heads' LMAO!!!
This guys name is maku. Famous Japanese actor maku.
2:39 Good. Go ahead. Just so happens, I know Him.
Yea that's the ticket switch labels or any way to get to see John w. Humphrey b. Errol f. The guy from the country hills of Alabama. Yea son. I love the way that boy talks. Really southern. Just cool hill Billy..
Have fun confusing the enemy
At 5:18, he names "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo". As a Doolittle, I must object. The show opening shows 1943. Thirty Seconds was released in 1944.
chuckd54321 - YOU AND I AND VERY FEW OTHERS WOULD HAVE ANY IDEA AT ALL ABOUT THE DOOLITTLE TOKYO RAID - ARE YOU ACTUALLY A TRUE RELATIVE OF GENERAL DOOLITTLE OR JUST HAVE THAT LAST NAME ??? - INTERVIEWED HIM AT AGE OF 13 IN ONE OF MY FIRST MAJOR ' TALKS ' - A TRULY TREMENDOUS INDIVIDUAL.
Japanese officer: "Jahwry friends?!?"
The lieutenant is an ensign. Lol!
Frank J. Artino the. Ensign is the equivalent a 2nd lieutenant in the army. Lt ( jg) is first lieutenant . lieutenant is is captain in the army. Lt. Commander ( Mchales rank) is a major in the army. Cdr. Is a lt .colonel army .captain is a colonel in the army . very easy to understand .
Yeah, if you are in the Navy.
A Lt has two bars, Conway only has a bar and star, that's an Ensign...
Uhhhhmmm NO.

This is my first time Re-watching McHale's Navy.
I didn't know that Asian men wore Affros back then.
I know that it's supposed to be a Funny Comedy show, but some things have got to be fact.
I just noticed an error.
McHale eating fresh grapes on an island where grapes were not grown.
I wonder how many more Faux Pas they made in the series?
:D :P ;)
In the "PT73 Where are you?" episode, they had a 1961 Series 2A Land Rover parked at 73's dock.
The biggest faux pas was having a Lieutenant Commander (O-4) in command of a PT boat. That rank would be the Executive Officer of a submarine or a destroyer. Chiefs (E-7) were known to command a PT boat. John Kennedy was a Lieutenant Junior Grade (O-2), the highest rank that commanded one of those.
FOOD IS SHIPPED IN...;ON THE BASE,WE COULD GET FOOD FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD...
There's quite a few. For one, PT boats had 3 engines yet in many episodes they act as if the 73 only has one. In the one where they rescue 3 show girls from an island, Binghamton says it's uncharted yet twice later on it's called a name. How can an uncharted island have a name? Binghamton's office door opens outward like a normal door in the fist few episodes but for all the slapstick gags it somehow changes to open inwards...after getting clobbered so many times by it you'd think Binghamton would have changed it back. And the entire fourth season in Italy is silly; how can a PT boat go from the Pacific to Italy?? Plus the war in Europe was a series of land battles; any ships that could make the trip would have gone TO the Pacific.

So...it's entertainment NOT historical facts.
love it
I have watch this episode many times and it just now occurred to me how did they get electricity on a formerly deserted island that was only inhabited by The gooney birds. And down by the beach no less! faux pas.
Red Skelton that burlesque shows are family shows
Sound carries i never been in combat how is a 50 caliber machine, torpedo, depth charge that he had to call someone to investigate...i can hear my neighbor stomp her feet like a two tear old
Then scream Captain
Too bad those aren't pt boats, not even close
I love free, nothing on TV except politically correct shows
