Excellent as always sir! It always has amazed me how Tunstall always has gotten such a pass, when in fact he was just as much of a crook as Murphy and co were. It’s just that Tunstall wasn’t around long enough to implement his plan.
Right? I'm just a nobody who reads a lot, but imho Tunstall was pathological, fixated on his sister among other things, and his parents probably sent him to Victoria to get him out of the house.
U do not have to be good looking to be a lady’s man! Personality, charisma, n reputation go a lot further than looks. Not to mention every woman loves a bad boy n with Billy not only being a G being young while able to handle himself around men twice his age that where hard/battle tested ,well like my late grandmother would of said “ Billy the Kid would have been the cats meow!!!!”
If I ever find myself in a situation where I am going to be hanged I am going to spend the last day drinking as much water as I can. When the time comes I’ll request to not to wear a hood and when the trap is sprung I’ll leap vertically. The extra fall combined with the additional water weight will hopefully be enough to pop my head off and give the crowd a show to remember. Yeah. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this.

Ok, hear me out. If we're going to entertain the whole vampire thing, I think, considering Billy's close proximity to Roswell we're gonna have to consider whether or not he might have been an ET. Not saying he was an alien, but it would explain the whole small hands thing. 🤔
Thanks for the excellent coverage of the Lincoln County NM. Did religious prejudice and hostility between Protestants and Roman Catholics play a factor in the Lincoln County War? Being that many of the players were immigrants or first generation from Ireland and England.
@@WildWestExtravaganza It seems probable to me since McSween is a Scottish surname and Tunstall was English. Dolan-Murphy gang being Irish might have carried hostilities from the old country. It is interesting that they used the name “Regulators” for their gang’s handle. I believe that title comes from the English Civil War where units of the New Model Army used the same name.
Howdy Josh, great episode. Wasn't there a photo of Billy recently authenticated? He appeared to be at a social function. I'll see if I can find it but I remember there being a big deal about it after it was authenticated.

If Billy got that photo taken at the fort there had to be a photographer there right? So it's not unreasonable to think there could have been a photographer there when he was killed? Yes/no? Even Tombstone had a photographer at the time ..
The population of Tombstone was 2000 verses not even 300 in Fort Sumner. Also, Fort Sumner didn't even have a doctor, much less a photographer. Per Paulita Maxwell, it was a traveling photographer and he took Billy's picture in front of Beaver's saloon.

Interesting “Billy” in the picture is not wearing spurs, boots don’t seem dusty either, face does not seem sunburn as would if he wore that hat riding.
@@WildWestExtravaganzawell per your superbly investigated post has detailed, he’s in Las Vegas, a minor celebrity, in a town that had photographers as early as the 1820’s, in a jail, totally open to questioning and photographing by the press. Yet in a smaller town, he, just on a whim, poses for a photo. As well, you’ve found out, the photo does not match descriptions in dress or physical stature. But, as you’ve pointed out repeatedly with this young gun, “the truth is as murky as the red river during spring thaw” . Don’t think you actually said per sec, but I could hear saying that. Cause your in Texas…. A Texan… I think…. 🙄. And you like tacos…. But who doesn’t…. And who the fuc waits for Tuesday?! 🧐
As much as I want it to be, its not a thunderer in the picture. It's definitely some type of old army style grip. Billy supposedly had a thunderer when or around the time he was killed and I went and found one just to have the same gun as Billy. Had 50rds of 41 colt brass made so I could load some bkackpowder cartridges and shoot it. Anyway the birds head grip drops away at a pretty fast curve, that gun is way too straight and looks much larger than a thunderer. Also the cartridges in the belt look a little skinny and long for .41colt. But maybe those are for the rifle I guess.
I’ve read that one of them Garrett had acquired for his book to use to present a likeness of him… seems the thinking was that Garrett threw it away afterwards. Can’t remember who’s copy that was supposed to be… Deluvina, and Dan Dedrick, were also who I’m aware through my research that got copies… also have read that one was destroyed in a house fire as well. The world may never know for sure!😁
I always thought that Billy looked like he was a mouth breather, so possibly had a lot of allergies. If you are a mouth breather, you end up getting a very small arc of teeth and your jaw gets long. And there is a popular photo out there with a few men playing cards and some wonder if the young guy with the top hat is Billy the kid, he has a big long jaw also... I have zero opinion on that but I think that it is possible
Actually the idea that he was born or even from NYC is unproven. It's a decent guess but nobody truly knows where Billy lived prior to Indianapolis in the late 1860s. Interestingly enough, when Billy first officially pops up on the radar it's in a protestant church. The First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico to be exact where his mother, Catherine, married his stepfather William Antrim. This is the fist time Billy's name is found in print - Henry McCarty. He and his brother are listed as witnesses to the wedding.
