1. Hope you're ok. If not, that's ok too. 2. Glad to see a new video 3. Those cover games were something special, weren't they? Some real gems there. 4. Hang in there Kim, we're rooting for you!
Yes baby I reviewed it kinda like it couldn't understand! Lol .it probably to do with the fact that I am from Birmingham and is as thick as two planks of wood 🤣🤣
I found an ad for this while reading through Jan 1989 Zzap... gutted to find it as a Games That Weren't game - then found this vid. Glad you covered it!
The mystery of the St Bride's "Victorian girls school" role play commune is one of the most interesting you've mentioned on this channel! I hope you can make a full video about it someday Kim! It's truly a deep rabbit hole! The fact that the text adventures they put out were really good only makes them more fascinating!
Good to see you back Kim! So sorry to hear of Sophia's passing. I think maybe a video on St Bride's would a good idea for the Kim Justice treatment, a bit of a weird rabbit-hole; computer games, and BDSM.
Just want to tell you that there are so many people out there rooting for you right now, Kim. Can't imagine what you've been going through, but my heart goes out to you. Take care of yourself and keep posting. X
Been missing you. What's important is that you're taking care of yourself. If this is a sign you're faring a little better I welcome it. Your fans love you. Don't ever feel like you owe us a thing.
this video just sent me into a hours-long rabbit hole on st bride’s and their entire thing feels like a video just begging to be made _king_ did get eventually released under the name _the dogboy,_ published by GI games and later zenobi software, both via mail order. it was one of three st bride’s games that narrowly escaped being forever unreleased through the hands of those two cottage publishers, the other two being _the white feather cloak,_ which was originally going to be published by dorling kingsley, and _silverwolf,_ which was an ambicious adaptation of a fantasy epic published serially in a lesbian zine also made by st bride’s. i swear i am not making this up
Fun video Kim, showing off some quite nice looking games I hadn't seen before. Thanks for that. Hope you're doing as well as you can be, was very sorry to hear about Sophia. Take care.
Could it also be a loose homage to Bob Monkhouse? His whole character was a cheesy game show host. BTW Bob Monkhouse might be a great video to do on his quest to preserve television shows, and even threatened prison for piracy.
Very cool to see a new Kim Video up! Especially when it's about some bizarre British games :3 I must confess I found my way back to your channel because of the last video. I'm still so sorry about everything that has happened, and sharing my own sorry story of the end of 2021/beginning of 2022. I really hope the rest of the year proceeds more positively for you, and for all of us! *EDIT:* That Mr. Gameshow outrage is r/cursedimages worthy. Thank you for destroying my good night's sleep, Kim... ;p
Smashing story, well told. Hope things are as well as they can be with you, Kim. Geordiespeak trivia: someone described as a 'Head the Ball' ['heid the baal', in Geordie] is the sort of person in the pub/on the football pitch you would want to avoid. A violent, highly-strung, unpredictable person. A Begbie sort. 'Watch yasel wi him - he's a reet heid-the-baal'.
Not played it, don't recall even ever hearing of this one before. The host character makes me think of 180, a game I did play a lot, and had similar toon styled characters in bottom left corner
Master Blaster ! I’ve been trying to remember the name of that for donkeys years. Finally, time to go find a copy. Loved that game ( + Cyberdyne Warrior for the C64 too...)
I wonder if we’re gonna get any videos on the stories of Rare (after Ultimate), Hewson, Virgin Interactive, Mastertronic, The Creative Assembly, Stainless Games, The Sales Curve and Rebellion Developments?
I literally was thinking that Head The Ball would be perfect for the c64, moments before the reveal that it was ported to the c64. Maybe that's why it was ported, the game's creator made the same observation.
fantastic video that has just led me down the fully batshit rabbithole of early text adventures/ st brides 'school'/ miss martindale/ aristasia and to say it was unexpected would be an understatement, an insane, bewildering understatement. thanks!
Bobby yazz reminds me of a cross of michael barrymore and bobby davro a scary thought indeed. Great video about a game i have seen you reference but never got round to trying myself
Hi Kim. Hope you are doing OK. Great little video. Have you ever made a vid just about St Bride's School? There was a good article in "Retro Gamer", but I'd welcome your take on the company, its games and the surrounding mystery/weirdness.
Caught this first on Patreon, again here. Those games look SO fun! Being a game dev back then was STRESSFUL!! Would you painstakingly program a game for months or years apparently in vain…?! Glad a SUPER-sleuth like Kim Justice is tracking down “lost” Speccy games.
I hope you are holding up with your loss. I heard of the game and so remember the advert but never knew what the game was about, even what it looked like.. I remember many an advert in the 80s but had no idea about the games themselves.
Very cool, enjoyed finding out more about Destiny. Feels like The Bobby Yazz Show would have made a good C64 game too, if a little similar to the title Oops Up that Big Apple did manage to release. I do love the C64 version of the 4th Dimension compilation, the origins seem quite unusual. Rack It apparently approached the teams for a budget title, but then put them out at the higher price in a big box. Still, they are all quality releases on C64 and interesting to see how different it was on Spectrum.
Good video as always but what if the other versions of Bobby Yazz? You said the C64 version never made it but the advertisement has it listed for everything. What happened to the rest?
What kind of spectrum do you have? The toast rack 128 seems to be the most desirable but the later +3/+3 seem more practical short of a Soviet remake or a new FPGA Clone
Kim do u know about risc os ? Acorn Archimedes ? Lander on there (a game for risc os)? did it have sound do u know? and amigaem.zip on google is an Amiga emulator for msdos!!
1:42 btw if you can understand Spanish a dude in Spain produced a video on Speccy developer Christian F. Urquhart. The Speccy was extremely popular in Spain relegating the C64 to around 3rd or maybe 4th most popular 8-bit home computer in the 1980s.. and Spanish Speccy historians are plentiful: ruclips.net/video/0Qcr3gEp_cw/видео.html
@@faenethlorhalien yeah in the 80s in a small city in Spain walking into a small computer store I was shocked how popular the MSX was .. like you say .. 4th or maybe even 3rd in some towns.
Have you ever played Bobby Yazz, or do you have some other favourite Covertape titles? Let me know. :)
Mailstrom was another great covertape freebie. It was on a Sinclair User covertape with a demo of Batman 1989 on the other side.
As a Yank, I can say I 100% have not. I find your coverage of Euro-gaming fascinating. We really didn't get a lot of micros.
Mailstrom was brilliant! Chaos - The Battle of Wizards by Julian Gollop was another classic from Your Sinclair in 1990.
1. Hope you're ok. If not, that's ok too.
2. Glad to see a new video

I can't tell you how much a notification of a new Kim Justice video brightens my day. Was so very sad to read about Sophia, take care.
Kim we're all so sorry to hear about your loss and hope things are well.

SophiA!

@@dejongejohan sorry ..Sophia rip 🙏 x
Welcome back - we missed you!
Love your videos. Best retro historical youtuber by far. You capture the period perfectly!
hands down the best retro content provider on youtube! Never stop!
Speccy games have such a unique look to them.
I recently read an old Retro Gamer article on St Bride's. What a weird story that was.
Good to see you back Kim! So sorry to hear of Sophia's passing. I think maybe a video on St Bride's would a good idea for the Kim Justice treatment, a bit of a weird rabbit-hole; computer games, and BDSM.

I did not know that. I know he wrote jokes for other comedians.. Bob hope and such.. The man was a legend... And mr hell is a unknown gem.
I always thought that as well TBH, it’s just quite a bizarre game all round I think
Glad to see you back xx
Thanks for the entertainment and joy your videos bring me Kim. My thoughts are with you, sorry for your loss.
Excellent video as always. Xxx
Nice to have a new video Kim. Love your work. Hang in there alright?
We play Xecutor and Gunruner titles, here in Czechoslovakia, but never heard about Bobby Yazz, it looks amazing
Really love the video Kim, hope you’re ok. Tony

I remember it coming with Crash but couldn’t get into it for some reason. I’ll try it again.
Thank you so much for your work! Especially under given circumstances. ❤️

0:08 Bobby Yazz is like an amalgam of every single 1980s male British TV presenter that ever was !!!!
Never played it but I'm happy you put a video on about it. love the spectrum games . Great channel keep up the great work👍
