Love the look of the S5 (Sportsback) For some reason though I preferred the feel /drive of the S4 (2020). Maybe next time it’s S5 time though 😃. The Hatch is really sweet btw! Definitely agree with you there!

Totally agree with everything you said here! One thing I'd like to mention though is how much better the other stitch pattern is for the seats (imo) than these ones. I picked up this exact car a few months back and I think the seats in my model change the entire vibe on the inside of the car. Although I don't believe they come with cooled seating, the stitching is definitely the first thing most people notice once they get inside. Just a thought for anyone looking to pickup this car :)
Test drove an S5 yesterday. Only had room for one package of M&Ms in the center console but that’s enough for me. I was driving so fast I needed both hands on the wheel anyway. Love this car!
S5/RS5 is the what I've wanted for so long (if I could bring myself to plunk down the cash). Side note: I now know how to spell Lori's name properly. Great job working the camera, Lori!!!
What a gorgeous car. I especially love the wheels. And I dig hatchbacks and wagons, so I love the design of the sportback. My only zonk would be that Audi doesn’t do a better job hollowing out the cargo area. It seems like the interior walls could be recessed some to give owners more cargo room.

I think the 2018 model has a better interior. My mom has a 2019 Q5 with it, and I got used to it and enjoy it. But at the end of the day, I'd go A6 or A8L instead.

Took delivery of my 2021 S5 in November. I was able to build my car, got Mythos Black Metallic with black interior, black optics, sport package, car turns so many heads, what a beauty and a beast at the same time
@@simonizer1218 it’s definitely a job to keep it looking shiny and sparkling, I have in the garage for the winter so it’s dusty now and will need a good detailing once the winter is over. I can tell you it’s a head turner, the all black is definitely a sharp looking car. I also considers the Daytona grey but decided on black!

I’ve owned my S5 for a month now and I love it. Best car purchase ever! If you’ve been thinking about getting an Audi with some kick but without the hefty prize of a RS5 or RS7 this is the way to go!
@@wurly164 I’ve had my S5 for about 5 months and it’s been great. I love the handling and performance. No issues with bumps or experiencing a rough ride. I’ve driven it on a track and the continental tires have great grip. The fastest I’ve driven it has been 125 mph and it’s an awesome feeling.
I miss my S5 Sportback. Looks like they've done some things even better. I agree about your take on the screen. Mine one didn't have it, was an older model, looked slick and the infotainment system in the middle was more than enough.
This is probably one of the best car around. Great value for money, aesthetically outstanding, spot-on engine. Such a shame that TDI is the only engine available on this one in Europe.

Bang for the buck you can't beat the S5 Sportback. Mine was a fantastic daily driver and even installed a hitch on it so I could take my road or mountain bike with me on trips. It more than holds it's own even on some of Malibu's most technical canyon roads as well ( Just make sure to swap the crap OEM Conti's for Michelin PS4 )
I have a question,.. first off I enjoy your reviews on various cars. It really helps me out. Ok, I just purchased a 2020 Genesis G70 3.3t Elite. But, I've always kinda had my eye on the S5. But went with the Genesis instead. What is your opinion in comparison to the Genesis and the Audi S5. As far as road handling, and comfort. Would you say the S5 is better, or the Genesis, or is their a comparison?!. FYI. We're the same height.. thanx in advance.
@@Troy-fv9uq it would alter the OD(overall diameter) of the wheel. A bigger wheel OD would throw off the speedometer reading, especially on the highway. There are often programmers available to adjust for changes in wheel/tire OD.

Two big drawbacks for the interior are you can't get the red leather seats with the warm weather package and you can't get a heated steering wheel and a flat bottom Audi please fix this
Yes. Its kinda lame that the regular red sport seats don't have ventilated option. And if you want flat bottom steering wheel, there is no heated steering wheel. Why can they make the best of both worlds?
For reals man! Why can’t they get that right. I have an sq5 with the gorgeous red seats but really butthurt they can’t have it with ventilated seats. Even my GLI has ventilated seats 🙄
For 2021 there is no more flat-bottom. They all have this horribly mismatched wheel now with the trapezoidal airbag and round profile. It does not belong in this car.
I sold my 2021 Accord SE 7 months ago.This S5 in Optic Black is my next car.I am looking to buy one as a"Certified Pre-Owned"by the end of 2024.I am waiting for the prices to drop a little bit more.I already have 40k designated for it.They go for $45k-$50k with low miles now.Can't wait.What a beautiful car,especially,the one in black.Great Review👍👍✌

Touché! I love my 2018 S5 so much that I come back here to watch reviews of the similar North American spec S5. We’re stuck with a TDI based B9.5 here in Britain & Europe. That was definitely a mistake from Audi as Diesel is now so widely discouraged by European governments. I think the next generation will reverse that decision, presumably a petrol mild/full hybrid? The SQ7 has discreetly switched to a petrol unit recently. The 3.0T engine is a peach, mine has a stage 1 map pushing around 410hp and does a 3.81 0-60mph and a 12.2 standing 1/4, which is pretty close to the RS5. Great review, and now another day where I’m itching to go for a drive!

Thanks Joe. What a car. I have a 2013 Audi S5 cabriolet prestige and I still love it today. I agree, I don't like the rectangle infotainment center sticking up off the dash on the new cars. Mine is quite small but built into the dash. My zonc on mine is it's not touch screen. My wife just drove over 1,000 miles round trip in it from CA to OR and back and I felt safe that she was in an all wheel drive with traction control... The 2021 is awesome. I have a '19 S5 quantum grey S/B and I really like it. The sportback is really attractive... gets lots of compliments. The *only* thing I dislike is the small-ish fuel tank; I believe it's ~15.3g which means I get about 300 miles between fill-ups with pretty conservative mixed driving (driving down to the red fuel bar, not to "E"). Light foot & lots of highway I can push into the low/mid 300s. City only and/or a heavy foot and it's mid/high 200s. A 17 or 18 gallon tank would be awesome.
With the updated looks, it's extremely hard to recommend anybody bother with the RS5 over the S5. The RS is faster, sure, but doesn't sound or feel like it. And now it doesn't look that much different, either, and the interiors are identical except for the stitch pattern. Get an S5, let APR give it a basic tune, and save your $14,000.
@@kingjinglefingle It is the same, though; for the B9 generation, the S5 and RS5 use the same EA839 architecture with the RS5 having a shorter stroke and a second turbocharger. That's basically it for the differences. Maybe you are thinking of the EA837 from the previous generation B8.5 S5?

Nice review of a nice car. That almost seems, from a certain angle, like a really good value. Not that 62k isn’t a lot to spend on a car, and more really than you need to for a perfectly good one. But with the average new car near 40, that offers a really compelling package of style, brand prestige, performance and livability for a bit more.

Have had mine for a month and it’s just an all around amazing car. From a launch it will eat up V8s. At 137 it was smooth as butter

I’m thinking I’d go with 19 inch wheels as those 30 profile tires won’t offer much protection from potholes or major curb rash.

Touché! I love my 2018 S5 so much that I come back here to watch reviews of the similar North American spec S5. We’re stuck with a TDI based B9.5 here in Britain & Europe. That was definitely a mistake from Audi as Diesel is now so widely discouraged by European governments. I think the next generation will reverse that decision, presumably a petrol mild/full hybrid? The SQ7 has discreetly switched to a petrol unit recently.
The 3.0T engine is a peach, mine has a stage 1 map pushing around 410hp and does a 3.81 0-60mph and a 12.2 standing 1/4, which is pretty close to the RS5.
Great review, and now another day where I’m itching to go for a drive!

Thanks Joe. What a car. I have a 2013 Audi S5 cabriolet prestige and I still love it today. I agree, I don't like the rectangle infotainment center sticking up off the dash on the new cars. Mine is quite small but built into the dash. My zonc on mine is it's not touch screen. My wife just drove over 1,000 miles round trip in it from CA to OR and back and I felt safe that she was in an all wheel drive with traction control... The 2021 is awesome. I’m about to buy a used 2021 RS5. Putting a deposit down next week. Never had a really nice car before, I’m pretty excited
I have a '19 S5 quantum grey S/B and I really like it. The sportback is really attractive... gets lots of compliments. The *only* thing I dislike is the small-ish fuel tank; I believe it's ~15.3g which means I get about 300 miles between fill-ups with pretty conservative mixed driving (driving down to the red fuel bar, not to "E"). Light foot & lots of highway I can push into the low/mid 300s. City only and/or a heavy foot and it's mid/high 200s. A 17 or 18 gallon tank would be awesome.

With the updated looks, it's extremely hard to recommend anybody bother with the RS5 over the S5. The RS is faster, sure, but doesn't sound or feel like it. And now it doesn't look that much different, either, and the interiors are identical except for the stitch pattern. Get an S5, let APR give it a basic tune, and save your $14,000.
not even close to the same motor though... the 2.9 is way newer and better designed
@@kingjinglefingle It is the same, though; for the B9 generation, the S5 and RS5 use the same EA839 architecture with the RS5 having a shorter stroke and a second turbocharger. That's basically it for the differences.
Maybe you are thinking of the EA837 from the previous generation B8.5 S5?

Great review! I for one don’t really mind the screen. I also think that only having the virtual cockpit would be a horrible mistake. How would anybody access the car settings and radio?

Nice review of a nice car. That almost seems, from a certain angle, like a really good value. Not that 62k isn’t a lot to spend on a car, and more really than you need to for a perfectly good one. But with the average new car near 40, that offers a really compelling package of style, brand prestige, performance and livability for a bit more.
Kia Stinger seems like the "budget" alternative to this, but it's still not exactly cheap.
I test drove the b9 S5 coupe, black on red. fell in love. Just picked up a B8.5 S5. Amazing daily driver. Gunning for B9 the RS5 next. Great review.
