Thank you. Literally everything on Google talks about the actual low tire pressure light when you Google TPMS light. Your video was the only thing I found actually talking about the “TPMS” light, not the low tire pressure light. 👍🏼

2010 Honda Civic got the TPMS malfunction telltale light (initially got Horse Shoe Air low warning light for 5 mins of driving)and stayed on even after inflating the tire's. Even I thought one TPMS sensor could be bad and got an estimate of $250 for each sensor from the dealership. Then went to another top reviewed Auto shop near me to know their pricing. Team just verified all tires pressure and found few tires were over inflated, then brought all tires to 32PSI as per recommendation. After this mentioned me to drive for sometime, then I went about 4 miles and Surprisingly TPMS lamp got cleared on its own. Hopefully this experience will help someone to self diagnose before going for repair. Thank you.

Here is my experience on TPMS...my car Honda Civic 2008 was in snow for about three days and when I started driving it on fourth day, first five minutes I don’t see anything on dashboard and later I saw TPMS popped up on the dashboard so I took to discount tires and there they suggested to fill air in the tires to make sure the air pressure is all good and they have asked me to wait until 15 minutes or more to give it time and then see if that TPMS on dashboard will go away..that’s exactly what happened after around 30mins TPMS disappeared from dash board 😀😀

Due to an accident, I had a new wheel and tire installed on my 2008 Honda Civic. The TPMS light then came on which I assumed was due to the sensor needing to be reset in the new wheel. I took it back to the body shop where they ran a scan and found two tires with low pressure. They inflated the tires and the TPMS light went off. Strange that the low tire pressure light did not come on. My owners manual says if the TPMS light is on the system will shut off and no longer monitor tire pressure.

You mentioned twice that the TPMS is still working. My TPMS light has been on for almost 2 years and I have had numerous flat tires and I never get the ! low tire pressure light anymore. It seems like it is NOT working now that there is an issue with the TPMS. It's not a huge deal because I check my tires pressure manually. Do you know what type of battery I would need for the sensor? I'll try to find a friend with a reader to see which TPMS sensor is dead.

I just got new tires put on 3 days ago and the light was on. Unfortunately, I scheduled my day very tightly so after picking up my car, I didn’t have time to return to the shop to have it dealt with.
Is this something that the shop should have seen and fixed?
I wonder if it’s worth it to take the car back in to the shop for this?
Is this usually included in new tire installation or is this a separate cost?

Even when the TPMS is working it doesn't indicate which tire is low. I have a $12 tire pressure gauge and use that to check my tire pressure. My Civic is a 2008 sedan and a few weeks ago the TPMS light came on. I called Honda and the price of replacing the sensors was about $200 each! I'll check my tire pressure once a month and save $$$$!

Later the (!) symbol was replaced with the TPMS light so came here and just question tgat the system will work with this light on? I am old so checking the tires myself is what i am used to so will do that but does the dystem still work with TPMS lite on?

Yeah that's normal, I have the same 2011 Honda Civic LX. Light comes on in the winter goes off when it gets a little warmer and vice versa. It's a shame they took away our ability to reset. Dearships only want to make money off of folks like us.

    • @blackrifle6736
      @blackrifle6736 Год назад +1

That is normal because tire pressure changes up or down One PSI for every 10F change in *tire* temperature. In physics it's called the Gas Law. Above absolute zero (~453 F) applies to all gasses, air (20% O2 + 80% N2) included. If you set your TP in a 70F garage and then park overnight in 30F, next morning your cold tires will be ~4 PSI lower.

TPMS systems are a pain in the butt. They were mandated by the US government in the Year 2007 because Ford Motor Company and Firestone Tire Company advised people to inflate tire pressure to 22 lbs in their Ford Explorers because they rode so bad. In hot climates many tires delaminated and fell apart and these vehicles rolled over at high speeds. Inexpensive over reaction on the part of government regulators.

Thanks for the great video! I drive a 2011 Honda Accord and I noticed the 'TPMS' light (not the low tire pressure indicator) coming on a few miles into driving. I was merging on to a freeway the other day and this fairly sized rock pops up on the freeway suddenly. I tried to swerve and avoid it, but couldn't and ended up driving over it. There was a truck driving in front of me, so I could not see the rock from distance. Luckily, my tires or the car's body were not damaged and hopefully there are no leaks. I am taking the car to a mechanic to check if there are any leaks or if there is any other damage not visible to the casual everyday driver from outside. If its just the TPMS sensor that has gone bad, I will leave it as is like you mentioned and get it fixed when I get the wheels aligned and rotated.

No idea how this has 12 likes. He said the way to “fix” it is going to the dealer because these older Civics don’t have that computer configuration installed to manually clear it. Also he said that the battery on the sensor in the car could be low or dead and needs to be replaced which is why you’d go to a dealer that can change your tires and fix the sensor or replace the sensor battery since you’re already getting your tires removed and replaced AND he said this isn’t an urgent fix so do it when you can. Your tire pressure light, the almost full circle light with exclamation point, will still work and tell you if you have low air in one of your tires.

@@riggedsportsnetwork6554 I brought my car to Walmart, American Tire Depot and Firestone shops, they said only the dealer can fix it (TPMS letters lighted) cause it has something to do with the car's computer setup. I called the dealer and diagnostic fee is almost 200 dollars which can go to the total cost of repair if you decide to have it fixed. But I don't know how much I will spend if I have dealer do the work. I suspect it can be pricey, as the diagnostic fee itself alone is already a lot of money. my TPMS light came on 5 days after i installed and then rotated my tires at Goodyear. after i took it back and had them check again they found nothing wrong (they deal with TPMS everyday apparently) but just a mismatched tire-pressure difference between fronts & rears. they told me the light should go off on its own after i drive it for a bit. however, it's still on now that i've driven 20+ miles. so maybe the sensor turned bad, but i just feel confused.
do you happen to also know if the light can go out automatically in case of a disinflation?

He is right about it that even after you inflate the tires sometimes it can take 5-10 minutes of driving to reset.
      I might also try:
-First thing is take it to a real dealer and have them "Scan" the car and see what the error code is throwing, then go from there.
If you do not want to go to dealer try:
-disconnect your negative on the battery and this will reset everything, maybe that fixes it
-check your tires again make sure enough air.
      -maybe bad battery or sensor.

No necessarily. The TPMS sensors are integrated with the valve stems. If you move the valve stems from the original wheels to the aftermarket rims, the TPMS system should function normally.

Beware people will try anything to scam. I changed all my tires out and asked if they can replace it as well but the mechanic (Firestone) said they can’t when changing my tires it has to be a separate thing so they can charge more. You can order the part off eBay for cheap and do it yourself. Beware bc mechanics are certified to fix and scam.

There is a battery in one of the tpms sensors starting to go bad. Generally toe sensor batteries are servicable. Most tire stores will be able to sell you a sensor and put it in the wheel for between 45 and $65. Forget the $150 dealership fee b.s.

DrewTalks yesss according to my tire shop. Batteries in the tire sensors last about 5-6 years. eBay has them for like $50-80 , depends on brand, for a complete set that I’ll prolly get and when I need to replace my tires, I’ll have the tire shop install them, free of charge since they gotta put a new plug anyways. Easy fix, hope that helps!

I don't think you're correct when you said that when the "TPMS" light is on... that the rest of the system is working. My manual for my 2011 Civic expressly says that when that light is on, the entire system in not functioning. So none of the tires will trip the other "tire low" light... even if they're low.
