Faith is a stronger vocalist but Mary has a decent voice and has had a consistent successful singing career since she came out with her debut album early 90s. Many women can relate to her songs and all the ups and downs of life and relationships that she sings about. Mary has had more industry hits but both women are talented though..

Marry had talented writers that understood her sound and new how to write/produce hits. Faith was limited although she was a writer herself she stayed in that lane. I always admired Faith’s vocal ability, but my respect for her went up after the show. She was pretty much the only performer that night that didn’t LIP-SYNC, which stood out to me. She’s a REAL singer that takes her gift serious. I love her for that.

The real fans know the true history between MJB and Faye. Faith was a co-writer and background vocalist on Mary’s, “My Life” album. From then on, they would collaborate together on Faith’s debut album. As well as, the remix to Biggie’s “One More Chance” and Mary’s “Everyday It Rains” for the soundtrack,
“The Show.” They were actual friends.
But when Faith’s debut album was released, Mary felt that Diddy was trying
to make Faith, into her image. Mary also didn’t like how the press made it seem as if, Faith was Mary’s vocal coach. It was coupled with the fact that Diddy, was giving Faith more attention. For she was his artist. Mary was not.
None of this was of Faith’s doing. But Mary had already made up her mind.
She not only ended all business ties with Diddy. But she ended her friendship and business ties with Faith as well. Fast forward to present time, I would have loved to see Mary and Faith perform
“One More Chance,” together at the BET Awards. Those moments were missed at the tribute. Hopefully, one day it’ll happen!

To the people who don't read album credits... Faith only wrote 4 songs for Mary on the My Life album and NONE of them were singles. Mary has written for Chaka (for a song they won a Grammy for), Aretha, Case and so on. Faith and Mary are 2 different singers and she NEVER gave Mary any vocal lessons. There's a video on RUclips with Faith on 106 & Park saying Mary was actually schooling her on music. Stop the lies. Mary has sung and held her own with the best of em from Whitney to Barbara Streisand. I used to be a HUGE Mary J. Blige fan. However, once I started seeing a vocal coach and studying other singers voices, my love for MJB kinda faded. Now, I can barely stand to hear her sing. Her tone is not pleasant at all. After I saw Faith Evans at the Bad Boy reunion in 2016 and the Soul Train Awards 2018 performance I became more interested in her voice and music. I listened to her first two albums and fell in love with them, especially her debut. Maybe because she sounds like an R&B Karen Clark-Sheard, but I definitely feel that Faith could've been as big as Mary if Puff didn't try to make another MJB out of her. I think that was a hinderance

Faith's voice is not what it used to be. She was a better singer back in the 90's and early 2000's. I can definitely tell her voice has changed. I think women can relate more to Mary than Faith, that is why Mary has always outsold Faith in records.
