Thank you for your video it's great to hear you explain and show these things. You explain so well, even if you think you don't. You never talk down or use terminology that means nothing to the very beginners. Plus I love to see the beach combing along with the beautiful part of the world you live in.

SO MUCH FREE WOOD. Nothin like that around here. You can dry out and char punkwood. Char it same way you do charcloth. Works good for firestarting with a fero rod. Even works with flint & steal. A little harder to start with flint & steal than charcloth, but it does work.
The piece in the oven must be turkey wood. Hi Jordy.

Another nice tutorial! My favorites for caricature carving are basswood and butternut. I normally paint the basswood carvings because not much grain shows. But with the butternutt, you do get some grain showing through.

Did u know if u put pariphane wax on the ends of fresh cut logs it keeps it from cracking while it drys. It allows the peice to dry slowly thru the bark. Ends open makes the wood dry to fast which causes cracking!

Can’t you dry the nice piece of wood over time?
