I applaud and agree with Tom Brokaw's expression of gratitude and appreciation for the research and care provided by Multiple Myeloma (MM) physicians and their teams - especially at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
I just want to add my thanks to Dr. Paul G, Richardson, Leader and Director of Clinical Research at Dana-Farber for his expertise, care and concern for his MM patients.
Although Tom Brokaw did not say it in his speech, I would bet that in the venue and location of his speech, he would agree that obstacles are really challenges that rely on a "Boston Strong!" response; and the Marathon against MM goes on.Thank You, Tom.

How strong are the ties between Dana Farber and Brigham and women? Has anyone done a full search of lawsuits and criminal proceeding on the Dana Farber Cancer Institute? Dana Farber uses the same security as Brigham. A Massachusetts judge recently ruled that the hospital had to stop "security measures" put in place to "intimidate" (the judge's word) a couple (patient plus husband) that spoke out against the hospital? The judge also ruled that the hospital violated the BASIC CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of the couple. This story is readily available from multiple news sources. Google it.
Does this hospital serve a purpose other than to make money for physicians and administrators?

As someone with MM, I truly appreciate Mr. Brokaw's public sharing. One thing though, he and everyone talk about how critical our care givers are. My wife is to a medical professional and was probably more involved in my treatments than me LOL.
I saw his recent special and wish we could do one on our caregivers. My dear wife is one of the big reasons I am in remission, of that there is no doubt in my mind.
If Mr. Brokaw sees this, let's chat about getting some real focus on the caregivers!
By the way I was treated at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy. My sincerest thanks to Dr. Barlogie and the entire staff there

Anyone considering treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute should read up on the story of Amy Reed and Hooman Noorchashm. Dana Farber, like Brigham and Women's Hospital, is part of Partners HealthCare. Brigham and Dana Farber share security.
Amy Reed and Hooman Noorchashm had to sue Brigham and Women's Hospital in order to make the hospital stop violating their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. This story has been well covered in the press, google it. Read about how a Massachusetts judge found that the hospital declared them a "security risk" and imposed "security tactics" to harass them. The judge found that the hospital put security measures in place to INTIMIDATE the couple, and ruled that the hospital was indeed violating the couple's basic constitutional rights.
Physicians and administrators working at these "non-profit" hospitals take home huge sums of money while violating basic rights.
