I need to get some certifications. Tired of living paycheck to paycheck
Amen
Start today man, you got this 👍🏼
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
Me too.
U get any yet
Ultimately, the best cert will depend on YOU and what YOU want to go for.
I went with a base starting point of A+, then Net+, then Security+ and topped it off with a 2 year degree in security.
I personally want to be a cloud engineer so now I am delving into Azure and VMware (Vsphere) certs.
Pick your end game, then pick your path.
Good Vid as usual.
2 years later…. How are ya doing? I just stumbled on this video and then saw your comment
@@copiouscat was literally about to ask the same thing lol
Thanks man for validating my point, this is what I've been telling my friends over and over
Man...the shirt! It’s a win for me. Thank you for your insight!
I had a dream that I met you and you told me you stopped making RUclips videos! Please never stop. Your videos help a lot, and really gave me motivation to get my first help desk position.
You’re extremely motivational I hope you know this!
I just got let go as an insurance agent, your videos have motivated me to consider this field I will continue to follow for advice thanks for these vids.
Great advice as always, thank you!!!
Thank you Zach excellent info and for the suggestions regarding marketing yourself!
My CCNA got me my first network administrator job. My GIAC certs got me into security.
Mike what exp. did you have before CCNA? Is that what got you the job? Or did you have degree/exp from before
Brian B just internship experience and an associate degree
@@miiiikee_ 2 questions homie...
#1 - how's the $$$ aka is it worth it?
#2 - who paid for your giac? Cuz that ish mad expensive...
oNe
@@phabeondominguez5971 I also wanna know. I've heard some companies pay your certs, as long as you keep learning they're happy. They who? I have no idea.
@@am33x haha, usually it's your direct Managers. Lots of BIG companies have a tuition reimbursement program where they pay for your schooling, which also includes Certifications, materials and the exam cost. Usually the deal is you have to pass the class(no fail) or exam and you can't leave the company for a year. Other companies just have $$ in their budget for stuff like certs or learning material's. Once I was at a company and I would just ask for the books and they would buy for me. I would ask my manager or my managers manager if he/she wouldn't buy it for me... I got like $1000 in books at one job..
You’re the best and an inspiration!!! I’m starting my IT Journey on 29 June! 🙏🏾
Hows It going?
I 2 iz like mad Confucius curious lol. Regaurdless hope it's going well and always remember it's about love and determination not intelligence and not experience those are what study and practice give you
thank you for the insight! more advice please :) especially for entry level beginners. Feeling pretty lost after graduation for bachelors in CIS
This guy really is giving you good advices.
You are Awsome man! Thank you so much.
thank you for actually being helpful and not trying to sell me something
Thanks for the help.
Love that RUN CMD tee, definitely getting one later on! :D
Please don't, if you want to be taken seriously.
just got an IT job within my warehouse with zero experience in the field; im skipping boot camp schools but getting a couple system certs to bump up pay in the future. thanks dude, you keep my confidence high
i know this is over a year ago but how in the hell did you do that
@@JustEnrique exactly
Any tips ?😊
We love you Zack! Thank you for all you do!
Thanks sir..
For latest informations...
You are really awesome
Totally agree on this. I remember applying online to multiple companies hoping i can land a job as a network engineer. Unfortunately, no one gave me a chance inspite of having 4 years exp as a helpdesk. I decided to pursue my çcna r&s cert and once i pass the exam. I got the job within a week. After spending 3 years as a network enginner. I got my security+ and it help me a lot to transition into cyber security. Pursuing your IT cert is very important . I know it's an investment because getting cert is not that cheap, not to mention spending countless hours to prepare for the exam but its all worth it!! So dont hesitate !!go fo it!!
I know this is very late, but did you have a college degree when applying to these jobs? Thanks:)
thanks big homie
Depending on what you want to do: Microsoft cloud certs Solutions Arcitects, Admin, Cloud Security, CISCO, AWS (Amamzon Web Service) Solutions Arcitects, Admin, Cloud Security, DEVOPS, CEH Ethical Hacker, LPIC 1,2,3, CISM. CISSP, etc. These are the ones that we are selling most at the moment.
Great videos man. Very insightful. Now starting off with A+, what other certifications would you recommend?
Which playlist do you recommend someone like me to start on for Prof. Messer's channel regarding the beginning basics. I don't know where to start and am needing to get into IT help desk for the first time.
I think you were speaking from the perspective of enterprise solution certificates, since AWS imho is a better contender for startups and mid sized companies that don't rely on microsoft tech. just my 2 cents
I have BS in Computer Engineering with certifications in Comptia ITF+ and CCNA. Still unemployed. I am not here to discourage everyone about taking certifications but this guy is right. It is not all about having a degree but how to market yourself to the industry.
Anyways I'm from Manila, Philippines
I am in Philippines too
I hope you are employed now! If not good luck
Great video Zach! Very helpful. Where is the best place to reach you offline, I need your help!
I have my Associate Degree in Information Technology/Networking with concentration in Information System and programming. Also have my Security plus certification. I'm looking to get into Cybersecurity Specialist. I will have my bachelor degree in Computer Information System Cybersecurity in October 2022. Looking forward to Cloud computing
For any DoD 8570 requirements CompTIA will definitely help tremendously. For the private sector? Not as much.
exactly.
What is the future of IT, and what direction is it headed?
superb sir...
From what I’m seeing, the majority of companies that require or give it as a plus that someone have a certification seem to be asking for the CompTIA A+ cert. which I know this channel recommends the Cisco CCNA, which is also good advice.
Yes, I recommend getting the A+ cert first
nice video but you talk only about Cisco, CompTIA and Microsoft ... there more certs like AWS, CEH, LPI, CISSP and also RHE its a very great certificate in server administration and for me i see this greater than an MCSE. it would be better if you mention many certs explain and them, not only Cisco, Micorsoft and CompTIA A+, Security , Network + etc....
That shirt just blew my mind lol
Nice "Run CMD" shirt !
Wish this had been explained this way to me back in 99. I wanted to do this right after high school but was discouraged because the community college counselors said it would take forever. Im now a auto technician for about 19 years. I love it but its not as lucrative anymore as cars are actually being manufactured better. Well certain cars anyway. I want to chage before i get too old. 40 already 😢
Honestly, it's never too late and you aren't too old. Go do you.
What exactly did the counselors think would take forever? Getting certs ? Getting into IT?
Don't give up. Age is just a number:)
If You are Passionate About it. You are never late. :)
I'm hoping to take the MS MD-100 & MD-101 exams in a few months. Would anyone recommend a testing simulator for those role-based questions?
OSCP is not entry level, despite what their site says. Start with Security+, then CEH. Both are things HR Salivates over.
Can you talk about the type of resume/Linkedin profile you should have before applying for jobs. For all experience levels. Your resume is HUGE even if you have certs. If your resume is poor you will get overlooked no matter how much education you have. As you see in the comments....
Thank you, informative! Could you please give us some insights on what kind of skills IT folks need to hve in order to land with a fully remote IT job?
Soft skills
I was thinking about starting with a+ and security+ then head towards cisco.
Your going to be wasting money with that sequence your going with.
Totally different field of IT Cisco=networking security+=security
Microsoft certs= systems
Father Figure what sequence do you suggest if your goal is security?
@@nbakid25 dont let me discourage you, but go for systems or networking before security get some work experience first. Security seems really hard to start your IT carreer with.
@@fatherfigure2766 im not currently in the field so i have to start somewhere, thats why i was thinking a+ and security+. I ultimately want to get into networking so i was thinking cisco later after i get a job in IT.
@@fatherfigure2766 conservatively: ITF > A+ > N+ > S+ > CCNA. Also look at Google's IT programs on Coursera.
Someone who is 22, new to tech, really into computers.. suggestions/pathways you’d take starting tech career? Thank you!
Working hard to get my oscp in a year or so
Our true legend ♥
Not me!
I have my Network+ and Security+.
I am going for my Microsoft MD-100 and 101.
I was thinking about taking the IT Fundamentals + exam just so I can feel confident w/ the IT Basics and once I show that on a resume and land a job, then I will be more exposed to the field and can probably take the A+ . I never worked in IT anyways, and graduated HS not many years ago.
FHGUEjG get the A+, no one cares about ITF+.
Yeah just take the A+. Trust us
Literally no one will hire you with ITF
A+ is a good enough place to start
ITF is probably for someone who doesn’t even know where the power button is on a desktop.
Are you talking about it fundamentals from wgu?
I'm torn between cramming for the MSCA Server 2016 cert before it's dead, or the Azure AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals cert -- which would you recommend?
Zach!, Dude!... You are The Bomb!... the shizzle!... You're the King of The World!! (voice trailing off) etc. etc. Aww crap... I just dated myself lol.
Seriously mate, this is the 4th video or so of yours that I've watched in the last couple weeks and I just want to give a genuine Thank You!! from the bottom of my heart because your passion for IT, your knowledge, but most of all your clearly genuine Willingness to share your knowledge and experience with us n00bs is really, really appreciated! As an aspiring IT Pro, I just cannot thank you enough for your guidance! It's Very, Very difficult to find light in a time of Such darkness, especially with what's going on in the States at this moment in time, but you've definitely brightened my day with this video and given me more optimism to achieve my goals in IT. Cheers mate, and wish you the best!
How about later-in-life career switch?
After years and years of experience in IT I must admit that CCNA has no parallel in terms of amount of prestige that it carries.
Juniper JNCIA?
Getting out of help desk is the fight.
@Ne Ws Reminds me of working in retail. You hate it but you don't hate enough to do anything about it. In a way, you get comfortably numb.
I’d kill to get IN to help desk, I hear that’s the hardest step
No. The big fight is having enough confidence to not think you have to "start at helpdesk" in the first place. Everyone wants to blame anything and everyone, and not take responsibility for their own fortunes or perceived misfortunes. Heavy emphasis on perceived.
@@mikepawlikguitar good thought.

They do it with Lawyers why not IT! TY 🤗
Is having a Google Cloud Associate Engineering? Because everything going to the cloud. I am not sure what to do??? thank you
Lats time I was ask about ccnp for an l3 networking job
GOOD MORNING run Cmd I would like to do IT program. I lost my job. I'm not tech savage I would need some help in these field.
I have A+ and SEC+ and I cannot seem to land a decent sys admin role....been at the help desk for almost four years...i was also a network admin for 6 months...with this Rona going on I'm dead in the water
Update?
is role based really be better? sounds to me like cisco and msf would be comptia lol
I'm in linux side, so I'm pursuing RHCSA CERTIFICATION. I want to be a system administrator or cloud AWS.
I have a question as an undergrad IT student which cert could help me. Land an entry level job I have a small python certification
going from ITIL > CCNA > CEH > SEC+
It looks like IT certs inter-weave one w/ another.
Is cloud + worth it? I already got my security +
Thanks buddy. I'm sure I'll get into IT someday. I've been doing the Google certified course lately, and its going good. I wanna know how much programming i should learn for IT. Like should i learn C C++ and python or none?!
If are you doing Google certification courses to learn, great. If are actually trying to get google certifications to get a job, you are wasting your time. Nobody will cares about google certs, probably not even google themselves. If you are a beginner, go with Comptia A+, if trying to get certified. As far as, programming goes I would not worry about it too much at this stage. I am not saying you shouldn't plan for the future but many times people trying to get into IT concern themselves too much with things like learning programming, getting CCNA , AWS , Linux cert and so forth, from the beginning . They end up overwhelmed and burn out. I am not sure what your actually knowledge is but I am assuming you are complete beginner in IT. Worry about the getting the foundations down first. Programming will help but you are better off worrying about the foundations of IT first.
I'm going for my comptia fundamentals+ cert first, I'm skipping the A+ cert and want to go to Networking or cloud. Someone please give me some advice, I would really appreciate it
Do not skip the A+, it is the main core certification many jobs require. Imagine you have 5 certifications but not the A+, and the applicant who got hired had only the A+. You should get the holy trinity of certs first the A+, Security+ and Network+, then after that choose to lean into CCNA or MCSA/MCSE etc.
Great content. I’m studying for my CCNA right now.
How is it going? What resources are you using?
@@phabeondominguez5971 hey ! Ive seen u in other comments and u seem to know alot about IT fields. I want to start too! Im using Alison's free website about IT courses as a start, I begin watching networking modules and it is quite interesting for me. What do you think? I really do not know much about IT field
I'm coming from general project management, not much to do with IT, but now I change to be a project manager at an IT consulting firm who is mainly helping implement ERP software and with other kind of software solutions. I couldn't find any certificate which really would help me with this job and give me a ground to ask for a raise after the first year for example. The only thing which might be useful is the ITIL right? I'm going to start my PMP journey very soon but after that I would like to learn for an IT certificate which helps me with this position/industry. Any ideas?
I am 67 years old and retired but bored and need a new challenge and extra money. I'm thinking about getting A+ certification. What are the chances of getting a job at my age and would a different certification be better?
I was hoping to see some replies
Hey man. I am 55 and I am about to go into a cybersecurity bootcamp. The young'ns basically want nothing to do with us, so we are on our own. If all goes well, I will be going for Cisco certifications most likely. I have the same questions you have. The job market is competitive. Where do you live ?
Wow
@@charmingjim I live in north Dallas. Lots of IT going on here but also lots of lounger people getting into the business.
@@dyankee7214 You on facebook ? Let's discuss !
_But I got OSCP, what do you mean I'm overqualified? I need that help desk experience_
Nice video but I'd rather go with Linux certification than Microsoft (even though they have new list of certification). =)
I am in it help desk want to move in server adMinistration which certificate would u recommend?
That opsec certificate is priceyyyy
so if I wanted to be a system admin with no experience which certifications should I go for?
Which admin would you like? I would say get the RHCSA certification so you can be a linux admin.
At the end of the day!
can one get an tech support job without schoooling. i took IT at community collegeg in 2001 but never found work in the field , i havent stayed in current trends.
what are the best entry certifications for someone who wants to get a help desk job?
Comptia A+
Nice shirt
Run Cmd
I'm done BTEC HND in software engineer.
What are job can I get?
Run CMD :) hilarious and "Tricky" ;)
what you think about software testing field ???
I have a mba and cannot even get an interview. What kind of certs (novice basic IT) to help. Very frustrating. I have a varied management background I know having the IT certs would help. Help. Lol
Do you recommend any Cisco or Microsoft cert for entry level? Thanks..
I hope once i get my certificate i can get a job
Microsoft and Cisco all the way. You will save so much time and money just going for those. My comptia certs (a, Net, sec) haven’t done anything for me, waste of time
Daniel Weatherly should i stop studying for network+ and do cisco instead?
Jimmy’gimmee’gimmee I guess it depends on how far along are you in your studies. If you just started then yea, just switch to cisco. But if you’re almost ready for the exam, then go ahead and cross the finish line
@@danielweatherly9733 I went from a call center to enterprise support with only CompTIA certs. It's a complicated process, but I wouldn't call CompTIA a waste
Daniel weatherly so take an online course for Microsoft and Cisco
I’m looking to get into the field but want to work remotely from anywhere. What are the best remote jobs in the IT field? Thank you.
Remote software developer or Web Penetration Tester
Its hard tbh. I got lucky and got a remote helpdesk job at a hospital with no experience, certs, and like 4 months of schooling. Just keep trying, don't give up. THATS the thing. The moment you give up, is the moment you truly lost.
So. Update. Fuck helpdesk jobs. Lol. But getting that experience. 😅
@@Motornationz what happened ?
@@saebae7511 taking calls just suck ass tbh. Especially working at a hospital where doctors think they own you.
how about Linux certifications? I know RHCSA is the most in demand, but I don't see many job postings for it, maybe just Linux Knowledge without certs is enough? LOL
what jobs could those certificates land?
Its all about who you know not what certs you have, i have net+ and sec+ CEH CCNA and i still dont have an IT career, all these IT jobs are always looking for senior positions not JR or entry level so it doesnt matter if you have ALL the entry level certs like A+ or ITF ccna or net+ or mcse, dont even bother getting into IT, just go apply to customer service or go do uber or lyft
Same. A+,Net+,Sec+,eJPT,eCIH,eCES,and a bunch of others. Yet still unemployed
might want to hire someone to do your resume and cover letter then.
@@jf6441 Also interviewing. It doesn't matter how much you know or how high your skills are.If they don't like you or don't think you will fit in with the work culture, you will not get hired. On the opposite end, if you personable and they think you will fit in but you are the highest skilled in IT at the moment. Then you will actually have a better chance at getting the job than the first person mentioned.
Question though. Would you say a company like say... 2ko.co.za providing courses and 'guidelines' to get certified in the preferred field, I.e. Cloud, that it's better to follow the affiliate group you mentioned and self study or actually have a IT person take you through the material for around 1500 $ including exams?
By the way. Good content
I'm going to start college soon and I want to work, but I want something that is a bit flexible and a good job. What do you guys recommend?
If you are going to college, get an internship.
would you say that this job is very communitive, What I mean is would I have to talk or speak to people regularly Can this job be just me my work and my thoughts ?
I dont have any I.T. certifications or experience and am jumping into the field. What would you recommend to start with out of these: The options I have right now are CCNA, the CompTIA cysa, red hat certified system admin, or AWS certified solutions architect
No IT experience? Then none of those lol, start with A+, land a help desk job, then get CCNA, and from there figure out what route you want to go, Networking, Cybersecurity or Cloud.
For networking get the CCNP after CCNA, Cybersecurity get Security+ then Cysa, for Cloud get the CCP and then the Solutions Architect
Just got my CCNA! I'm looking to get into Cyber Security soon, should I go for Security+ or rather CCNP Security? (CCNP gets me a 600$ monthly bonus as well)
Depends, do you want to work on purely cisco devices ? CNNP Sec focuses more on building a secure network through ASA firewalls and all kinds of security policies. Security + focuses on more cyber security stuff like understanding the different security terms (malware, attack methods, threat models). I went with CCNA,eJPT,eCPPT. Look up elearnsecurity if offensive security intrigues you
Why not AWS? I thought solutions architect associate was the entry point to cloud.
How to get aws certification
hi, I got COMPTIA 901&902 and Microsoft 10 fundamental as certification without experience.
I'm still looking for a job.
The problem is all the place were I apply they need minimum 1/2 years experience.
Do you have any suggest where I can search?
Or start for internship?
thanks
Just Apply on them. There's no big deal if they reject you on first place.
Just keep applying and go for interviews until you get a job, if experience kinda makes you discourage you, don’t be discouraged. Build a virtual lab because you can virtualize anything tbh
What's your opinion of Professor Messer to prepare ComTIA A +?
If you're going for the A+, I just passed Using Mike Meyers on Udemy, Professor Messer and Jason Dion's practice exam.
@@apostropheess340 Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it.
@Jason KJK Thank you. I will apply your advice.
Do you know penn state ist degree I am doing it as my degree do you think it is worth

Comptia A+ vs google it supports
Which one would be worth
I have. Get the A+
So comtia A+ is worth
What about certs from Linux? Don’t they have any? I like open source, not virus creators.
Better Go For RedHat Linux or Even Cisco has Linux Course with Certification, Just Have a look at it.
