Great tips ! Built my shack from a salvaged garage my neighbor didn't want last year. Your cupola design looks straight forward and simple to construct. Even for me!! Only 7 weeks, give or take, till I start my simple and small backyard trees syrup season.

Sugar shack is looking good Tony. It won't be long before the sap is running and the steam is rising.

I wanted extra light in my saphouse - added transom windows to my cupola doors ("shed windows and more" - supplier for the amish barn companies.

Nice! I've thought along those lines myself. Windows would let in a lot of light. I actually kicked around the idea of using louvered windows, like the old crank out windows in a camper. Maybe down the road one day. Great idea adding the windows, thanks for the supplier info and good luck with your maple season!
