Ethanol in gasoline is bad for all engines AND the environment.
I don't believe it's necessarily bad. It does get blamed for a lot of issues however. Burning anything is bad for the environment! lol. Thanks for the comment!
This is the best video I've seen how to ajust the sawmill bed ,yoh are great actually shows how you are doing the adjustment,,the rest of the other videos I've watched to level are worthless.
Hey, thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked the vid!
I got the same Smokey lake pan looking awesome 😎
Thanks! Good luck with your season!
Great shed. Great video. I am interested in the mill platform. Just about ready to purchase a mill and I am curious about the platform you have it mounted upon. Please send info on that please. Thanks Fred
Thanks! The base for the mill is made from treated 4x6's, it sets on 4x6 posts set in concrete. We took treated 2x6's and laid them flat on top of the horizontal 4x6's, and the mill is screwed down through those.
Tony, you just saved me some money! I too have been duped into running expensive ETOH free gasoline in my chainsaws, mowers, and generators because of the here say you mentioned. I really appreciate your expert opinion. Enjoy the snow, John.
Thank you Tony. I have struggled with this many times and always buy non-alcohol gas but I never know why. Every time there is a problem with my machine I seem to blame the gas as well. Thank you for your expertise in this matter, buddy.
You're welcome Dan. Ethanol in gasoline can certainly have a negative effect on engine operation as well as engine components, but I don't believe it's the culprit behind every instance of small engine trouble. It's just in our nature to look for a scapegoat! Thanks for the comment!
Great tips ! Built my shack from a salvaged garage my neighbor didn't want last year. Your cupola design looks straight forward and simple to construct. Even for me!! Only 7 weeks, give or take, till I start my simple and small backyard trees syrup season.
Great work here and thank you for the video. Did you use a plan for this or was this just your pure brain and skill?
You can weld some metal plate on the base to add stability.
Absolutely! That's why these scissors jacks are so versatile..lots of room for modifications. Thanks for the comment!
Good info, Thanks
Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked the vid.
Ethanol in our gas is tyranny
Thank you, this was very helpful!!!
We're so glad you found it helpful! Thanks for letting us know!
I'm curious, have you ever tried that with the "no ethanol added" gasoline?
Yes, when I was doing equipment repair for a living I would check fuel labeled as ethanol free. Most of the time it was pure gasoline, but there were a few instances that caught me off guard. Thanks John!
Oh sh*t! That's awesome
Thanks. It's worked well for us!
Great instructional video
Hey thanks, appreciate the kind words!
I am ready for some Maple Syrup my Friend! Love the setup. Have a Great Holiday and New Year
We'll send you guys some once the season gets underway! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Few Questions. What’s the pump pull for vacuum? Do you think it would be able to handle a CDL releaser ? Could it handle 200-300 taps? Awesome set up!
We can get 25" of vacuum at the releaser, but I'm sure it's quite a bit lower at the tap. I've never dealt with a commercial releaser, so I really can't say how this pump would do with your CDL setup... sorry! I will say however, that is far from the optimum vacuum pump. We had it available, (free), so we used it. And I was very pleasantly surprised at what it was able to do for us. Matter of fact, since we literally just grabbed it outta the pond aeration system and put it to work last year without any maintenance, I've decided to rebuild it and use it again this upcoming season. AND, we're adding more lines/trees to it. Given the choice, I would love to have an actual vacuum pump intended for sap collection, but given our budget we will try this unit again this season. Thanks for the questions and comments, good luck with your season!
Finally, something these things are good for. I've always hated using these types of jacks. This may have just changed my mind. Thank you for the idea!
lol... yeah, as an automotive jack they sometimes leave a lot to be desired, but I tend to grab any I run across for potential modification/adapting for another purpose. We modified one for use as a toeboard on our sawmill that turned out great! Thanks for the comment!
The winch setup is a great idea.
Poor people, poor ways! lol. Thanks John!
"Deer"
Yea buddy!!! This is what i was looking for. Subscribed
Thanks! Hope the vid helped you out!
I wanted extra light in my saphouse - added transom windows to my cupola doors ("shed windows and more" - supplier for the amish barn companies.
Nice! I've thought along those lines myself. Windows would let in a lot of light. I actually kicked around the idea of using louvered windows, like the old crank out windows in a camper. Maybe down the road one day. Great idea adding the windows, thanks for the supplier info and good luck with your maple season!
@bbfarmsmaple8011 you bet, have a great season!
What size motor were u running thanks
We have the 14hp Kohler
Sugar shack is looking good Tony. It won't be long before the sap is running and the steam is rising.
Thanks John, yep it won't be long!
Thanks. Very informative.
Glad you liked it, thanks for the comment!
Nice!
Thanks John!
Built my elevated blind back in 1999 summer, used two atv winches to up right the platform . Still up right.
Nice job, using what we have to get it done! Thanks for the comment!
I like people with fantastic ideas , and that's idea works really good 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks, appreciate the compliment!
Gotta tell you Tony, I covet your deer stand! As far as you tube video production, I thought when I retired I would really crank out the videos, but alas that just has not happened. I, like you, only want to make content that is entertaining with good videography and production. Unfortunately I am probably one of the least creative people I know, As for you, I find all of your content entertaining, educational and well done. I like the fact you are thoughtful about your content. John
Thanks for the encouragement, John. Hopefully your deer season has been more productive than mine!
Don't worry about the numbers. I enjoy watching the videos you make. Just continue to do what you guys do best.
Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it, thanks for the comment!
I need to figure out how to get a mill because I'm broke and have a broken body now😂 but was blessed to be given 2 acres when we can finally afford a home we have land now and it's covered with pine trees and turning it into usable lumber to build and save money is what I want to do
Milling your own lumber is very satisfying, and a lot of hard work. Hope you get your mill soon, sounds like you have enough trees to feed it!
Beautiful mill shed. I have the same mill and will be working on a shed soon. I haven't figured out what the convex mirror is for though. Is it to let you know where your forks are or something when picking up wood?
Thanks for the kind words. Yep, the mirror lets me see my forks from the tractor seat. Good luck with your shed build, appreciate the comment!
@@bbfarmsmaple8011 The least I can do for someone willing to put themselves out there for all to judge. If it weren't for people like yourself we'd all be back to a time where we felt it's such a big task we couldn't do it ourselves.
Love this old industrial stuff
Can those hybrid breed sometimes? I heard the percentage of them being able to breed or produce is low
Yes, hybrid bluegills can and do reproduce. A common misconception is that they are sterile... NOT true! It's just that the hybrids purchased from a hatchery are mostly male, with some estimates putting them at 95% male actually. So in theory, the reduced number of females would seem to limit their offspring. However, if there are native bluegill present in the pond also, they will cross with those females. And, it only takes a couple females to populate a one acre pond! So, it's the job of the pond owner to try and curtail recruitment of the hybrids, by ensuring adequate numbers of predatory species are present. Thanks for the question!
Very nice shed, what did you use to paint the board and batten?
Thanks! I don't recall the brand, but it was just a black, high solid wood stain. Thanks for watching!
Have you considered the benefits of adding a dry line to the system?
Well, we're small scale producers. I enjoy scaling down the technology used by large operations, and adapting/building it to suit our needs. I'm just not sure that given our inefficiencies, if a dedicated dry line would be worth the effort? Interesting idea though! Thanks for commenting!
@@bbfarmsmaple8011 It seems like it's possible to double the throughput. The exhaust (push) of the pump routed up to the beginning (end) of the vacuum (pull) line. (I'm speculating and contemplating. It seems like a semi closed (controlled sap outlet) loop.)
By the way, you can change that from Celsius to Fahrenheit
Thanks for the info!
I've seen some strange looking pumpkin seed hybrids in Upstate New York where I fish, beautiful coloring on them though and the size was quite decent.
Yeah, bluegills and lepomids in general tend to hybridize naturally. Like you, I've seen some gorgeous specimens! Thanks for the comment!
You have inspired me to dust off my fishing equipment and take a trip to the lake! There is nothing that can compare to fresh caught and cooked fish!! Well done!
Hey thanks! I agree completely! Good luck!
Great video
Thanks!
That’s not fishing Tony! It’s Catching!!
lol.....you know how it goes, sometimes the stars line up, the fish cooperate, and everything works! Doesn't happen to me very often though! Thank you sir!!
Glad I found this in a search , what a great video and so close to home (Franklin county), I just had a small pond built 1/4 to 1/3 surface acre and was researching about how / what fish to stock , Im now leaning towards a hybrid bluegilll pond , of course I'd have questions , don't see here how to message u ?
Hey, glad you liked the video, and congrats on the new pond! Hybrid bluegills can be an awesome addition to a fishery, provided one understands the pros and cons. I am by no means a pond or fish expert! Just an enthusiast. We try to answer or respond to every comment, in the hope that others may be wondering the same thing. I don't feel qualified to offer advice, but we are happy to share what works (or what didn't work!) for us. Thanks for the kind words!
