You know what's so frustrating about this, babymonster may very well be the most talented group to come out of 5th gen and.....they're serving me tasteless ratatouille.
And the fact that YG stans are defending this lazy ass strategy to the death. Okay first of all WHYYYYY are you a company stan?!?!? Should you not care about the artists first and foremost?!?!?! Its insane to me that some people are okay with a new group not having their own sound, identity, colour, intrigue...and are okay with them being swallowed by a so called legacy. And its not even honorable smh.
also one more thing, to the fans saying theyre nothing like bp cause they have completely different skill set. By skill set do you mean vocals cuase if so if bp did have that range most of BMs songs would be in BPs discography and thats EXACTLY THE PROBLEMMM

like that is an english song bcs it was a gift from charlie puth bcs of ahyeon's cover of his song. i guess yg didn't want to change much to the song and respect his production. what i like abt yg is they don't make a big deal of releasing english songs. they don't make a separate album for it or release it as a special track or something. they don't promote it like it's gonna be a debut track for western market. they've always been like that. they release it just at it is whichever fits better
i dont think having the same music as BP is bad but babymon has an entirely different skill set. 6/7 can sing so why the hell do we have this open / chant choruses

Someone commented something that made sense. They said the chorus is kind of empty so they can focus more heavily on the dance. In Sheesh the dance have very sharp and powerful movements that if you are singing heavily it won’t be as clear.

in my opinion, YG already understands the risks associated with using this formula and rather than saying they're playing it safe by sticking to this formula, I see it more as YG's statement that Babymonster is the final form of the girl group envisioned by them
without diminishing the respect for the two previous groups (I myself follow and only fall in love with YG-formed groups) Babymonster introduces a fresh dimension that outshines their predecessors, particularly in TECHNIQUE-a facet somewhat overlooked in the past as YG prioritized character development and vocal distinctiveness, we already know that YG is equal to stage presence and distinctive vocal hues, but the label has never been hailed for technical prowess and here we got Babymonster
moreover, this TECHNIQUE isn't confined to just a select few, all five vocalists-six if we count Asa-possess an abundance of skill to rival the contemporary scene, even the two main vocalists boast techniques that confidently bringing their high level game to compete with some current big groups either in their generation or the previous generation
and don't forget about YG's core distinctive in their game, the rapper, the Japan duo with their own unique charm along with the magnificent singer-rapper Ahyeon, is like now they can "launch an attack" freely from any aspect
PS: I just copy this comment cause i also have same opinion...and i think the TT is a little bit different from other YG GG that have been formed. and i guess that is YG adjusting a little bit to find what kind of songs will be best suited for this talented girls, lets just wait for the future releases of BM first and see

I also gave you more info, not all the members are fluent and some are better at singing in English than Korean due to a majority being non korean.
They did all their monthly evals and pre debut content for the most part of english songs.
YG just sticking to their roots and Identity no matter what.. good or bad. They are true with themselves they cant make everyone happy. For me its kinda " If you like you like. If you dont there is many groups out there " personnaly i like this YG sound so im good with this type of songs :) they just debuted. Im gonna see what they became in some years and we will see If YG waste their talent ^^🫶
This isn't YG's roots tho. This is BLACKPINK's formula thru and thru. The only thing that has anything to do with being a YG sound is having an outro. I've listened to YG since gen 1 and this copy and pasted bs has never been their identity.

Yes these girls are talented. BUT, a few points to remind everyone:
1. These girls auditioned to YG with the imagery and anticipation in their minds that they will debut with these concepts. It is illogical to think that they go to YG while hoping to debut with an IZ*ONE concept. Therefore, it is a inappropriate to the point that it is almost unjust not to meet the girls expectation.
2. These girls obtained such skills because they were trained in YGE system. Last Evaluation showed this so clearly.. They turned a slapstick Rami to a swag dancer and the midi Rora to a soulful singer. Do you think Rami will dance the way she is now if she's in JYP? She wouldn't even developed that singing technique that we pove from her if she went to SM. And all these happened is because of YG's concept and identity that most of you kept on complaining.
3. To iterate GZBKarma's word: these girls can't escape the criticism towards them no matter what concepts or route they take. So might as well take the proven and tested YG's color and identify.
ADDITION: Did YG never thought about those fresh and new concepts like the dancing and singing in the street? The answer doesn't matter because the other label managed to put those concepts as trademark for their girl groups. So doing so will be equivalent burning themselves by their own volition.

Ok I dont get the complaning about they singing in english. Why not?. There so much groups with several songs in english in their albums, one of them is one of your fave SHINee Key , and there are other have have MULTIPPLE versions of one song in english and I have never seen you complaining about it.
On the other hand dislikeing the song thats personal taste so I will not go in to it much, you just dont like the sound, thats it. But what I would like to considere is how in the past you have praised groups with the same concept.
Must of the comments here are just hating on the so called "YG stans" , ... well in my opinion they are YG stans because they like YGE style and sound, I dont see the problem on having loyal fans, must of the most long running groups in the indutry is thanks to it. I have a LONG list of idols that have lost fans and popularity after leaving the "sound" they have being known to, and some are exactly from YGE. So I dond blame them.
In my opinion the song is what I expected and I do like the mini album, this is just their debut and they will keep growing.
Like he said, it's early in their debut, and they are a KOREAN idol group. They have 5 songs and only 2 of them have any Korean in them. It's understandable that people are questioning this direction.

I get the point but to be honest, upholding them to the “they’re just a second BP” is the exact same thing that happened to BP after 2NE1. All YG songs sound the same, until 3 years into their career. As if it’s your last was literally a recycled 2NE1 song? So I get the point but it’s TOO early to confine them in a cage
I'm not placing them in that cage, YG is, that's the issue. We can SEEE a range of girl groups aesthetics out there. This is super dated and those critiques about BP were fair too since 2NE1 was done dirty by YG so the point still stands.
@@Koko3op While I do agree with the “dated” statement, the range in kpop is ALSO dying down with the only viable unique concept in big groups is Aespa. YG feeds off the loyal fanbase that they’ve built in 25 years, so the music does tend to adhere to those ears only, hence why blackpink is labeled as “repetitive”. The longest lasting groups in kpop are literally theirs, with groups from the 1st generation still having a HUGE fanbase. It’s dated but it works, so I guess that’s why they stick to it.

@@Koko3opI do see why people as well as you would think that and tbh, I wish YG would put out groups that are more r&b or other genre focused. But looking back at their past groups and artists, all of YG’s discography is the most consistent out of the kpop companies due to having a large fan base since the 2000’s that are attracted to this sound since YG is basically known for it. And artists being Bigbang and 2ne1 until now Treasure and Baby Monster with Blackpink being the breadwinner, it works well for them. And Baby Monster also expressed on how they always want to be like their seniors, performing YG songs. I get it if it’s not up to par with people’s ears, but not really getting the fact that they get hate for it

I respect your opinion, but considering the trending sound in Korea rigth now that Is "soft" I actually really like that YGE stick with their own sound and not follow the trend. Why people feel the need to follow instead of creating new one or sticking to their own style?
Also why do people feel like people should hate the sound? Just like you dislike it there are a lot of people that actually love the song and the sound. So I dont get either why trash and say " they are just YG stans" No , there are people who never followed YGE and still like the song.

them , supporting them or even buying their album, but after listenin to the songs I just did. Cuz I actually like them a lot.
We just want YG to put something different or new that makes their sounds be more refreshing. I don't want to _take away_ the sounds they own because of what you said in the first passage. It's what kept them unique in Korea and certain other Asian countries that YG is also apart of, but you gotta think in the perspective of the types of people that listens to a variety of songs from other artists and producers around the world. Those sorts people are used to exploring the sounds they listen; it should benefit for YG to add, replace, and/or rearrange some instrumentation and arrangement to explore new sounds and make them not take away their signature sounds but have it be enough of a refreshment for that side of the audience. I bet a lack of these things are partly why Blackpink disbanded and isolate themselves from YG from what I heard.

It was just like every YG group that came out, got a lot of hate and got lots of praise for their music. So in the end, people are gonna love it or hate it but the artists love it themselves.

Ruka? You always hear her whenever she comes on in as she always switches up the song flow. Every Baby Monster song has a rap part that switches the flow. She will usually open up the rap with an alluring sexy tone and then Asa comes in with her machine gun rap spitting hard.
The thing I dont get about your opinion is why are you leveling every one that like the songs "Yg stans delulus", I think respect goes both ways. Music is subjective and every one will have different opinion, you dislike it and I actually like it. And No I'm not a YGE stan, my fave group of all time is SHINee and thats why I follow your reaction channel.

I usually love your reactions but one thing I noticed though is when you were about to watch sheesh and even before reacting to monsters, you already seemed like you are feeling some type of way about it? The energy you were giving was off and it came off like you had already formed a negative opinion before hearing the song and didn’t give it a fair shake. It dampened in the mood. I will say for Like That is that since it was given to them by Charlie Puth, it makes sense for them to have that as a full English song bc thats such a cool and generous gift - - although maybe it might’ve been cool to maybe have one of the raps in Korean or something along those lines but the song still slaps either way. Also, Dream was released at the end of their survival show, so it was already out and not new for the album (so yes another full English but not one that was specifically created for the album). The video is also really really good and shows their years of training and honesty makes the song even more emotional and impactful!

They can have a more distinct identity than 2NE1 3.0. look at SM. There is SM style but SNSD, f(x), and Aespa are all different

And YG signature is so strong from any Big 3 that coming out of it take time, in early days BP was 2NE1 copy but with time they grew up from it and it will be same with BAEMON, they are being called BP/2NE1 copy but I know they will group up from it cuz talent wise Baemon is more talented vocally from their sister group (can't talk about stage presence as they haven't done a real stage performance yet) . And no matter how much you hate on YG and if they leave their YG dna...people will miss it and cry that YG lost their YG sound.
This is their first mini album and imo they have enough diversity with ballads , rnb and yg style hip hop . I get what u said but yg is not going to let go of their original style and I enjoyed this ep very much . They are just starting and if u want yet another easy listening song you can very much check out other groups . @@Koko3op maybe you thought it's great until other fans starts to attack them for "copying XG/NMIXX", that's what YG is most crucial if you think about that, in my opinion, he will think that it's better to sound like YG even if it's the same formula than to be sued for a theme. They are already hated because they do both things already, sticking to what's their style and for not doing what's their style.
It seems you are over expect for the highest of their capability to come out in just one mini album or later on. I feel this complaint was unfair for these girls. Consider the group has to do performing live in many activities, concerts, or other occasions in the long running future. The begining style today may have changed and developed through time. And you seem disappointed to YG structure of just one or two songs which is YGE success textbook. ====> later thought : You are a reactor, so you said straight at a sudden thought, understandable (and GOOD). Understandable, but still unfair if YGE has to change their identity in a money making machine they built, and there're many loyal fanbase out there whom satisfying this formula. Seen from this title track SHEESH, there are some degree of branch out from OGYG already. We'll see in long run.
You mentioned their weak dancing by showing their former monthly evaluation compare to more simple sheesh choreographs. You might forgot that the monthly evaluation required full potential performance, it's like the final examination, but the long run work is different. Do you full grown man do your job as hard as when you be in school? And what would you do if you want fans to have a grooving dance along and have fun with you artist in live concert, a hard or a simpler choreos?
Another point was about language using in the song, full English or full Korean or multi-languages I considered it depend on marketing purpose on agency side. And I have heard YGE want Babymonster be their flagship global girl group which made sense for this very first album. I'm from a non-English non-Korean speaking country and know only English as foreign language. These English lyric songs made me easy understanding the message when listen to foreign/kpop/jpop music. Please be pathetic to other people out of USA. ====> S.Korea government or culturally relevant department will do this job for you, I quite sure, because KPOP needs consistant identity as well.
Everyone complains about YG but at the end of the year. They are all frustrated because the vast majority of the West still wants YG's girl crush, including the girls themselves, especially those from outside Korea who are YG stans, the 4 of them are YG stans.
The truth is that, this is their style, they wanted to be YG artists.
And in the reality show they had a range of songs to choose from to perform and they always chose songs in English, they only sang in Korean when the song was chosen by the production team.
They are literally happy with what they doing and for me that is what matters.

To be honest, BP comparisons were inevitable, like how ILLIT is with NEWJEANS. At this day and age, companies can’t really win either way because if they continued “recycling” concepts for new groups, audiences will complain but then again if YG or HYBE were to change it up, audiences will then complain how they aren’t staying true to their original sound. I honestly never got into Blackpink but I really like Babymonster, especially Ahyeon and let's be real, when she was on hiatus, a lot of people weren't that excited about the group. And unfortunately ever since she was revealed to be a talented singer, dancer, and rapper, people started calling her "more talented Jennie". Even Ahyeon just recently stated that she'd like to not be compared and be noticed for her skill set, not someone else's.

I really get what you’re saying, personally I am not mad at this as I see it as a step up from Batter Up(reasons: the rap was amazing and the vocals too, the chorus tho…). However its defs not a playlist for me.
But I agree when I say a new sound from YG would be nice, like when I hear the name BabyMonster I was expecting YG to incorporate a horror element in their sound (like with Purple Kiss in Ponzona) and I believe thay concept would work for them because look at the beginning of Sheesh, the haunting piano and the vocalisation 😭 it was magnificent.

I even understand the criticisms of YG, but it's a natural cycle in kpop, for you to create the next group based on one that already has a characteristic that draws attention, in this case the girl crush style.
YG himself has already said that he wants them to have this different aspect, but for them to be known and gain a fanbase, they appeal to what the public already likes, which is the blackpink style.
They have powerful vocals, dance and rapline, they weren't going to risk something new, especially with the troubled debut and Ahyeon's return. But from now on I think they will focus more on vocals
As for YG's style of making music videos and everything else, unfortunately or fortunately, it's their characteristic. I think the only group or duo that was different was Winner and Akmu.
I hope that with the departure of blackpink, YG will finally open up the range of possibilities for its groups and see the potential it loses by being stuck only with the hip hop concept.
Hi i hope you can also react to UNIS setting their ages aside their debut album is so good, not really a fan of them (just a casual listener looking for good music lol) but highly recommend if you're looking for some good quality production of music and vocals. Their b-sides are amazing, butterfly's dream is my favorite.

It IS a Western/English song. It was given to them after he heard Ahyeon's Last Evaluation rendition of "Dangerously."

This is definitely not a blackpink song, but they need a unique take on yg’s dna at this point. ‘Like That’ is a step up- where they are layering vocals much more than blackpink did. If they keep that energy up I think they will have something different, but as long as they keep sterilizing each part so that only one girl is singing at a time, we will be left with the blackpink feel.

I liked the first verse, but the chorus just wasn’t it and the horns and chanting at the end ruined any hope for the song for me. Super disappointing. I thought it was better than Batter Up but not by much. These girls have so much talent and that song was just not it in my opinion.

Apparently, fans associate loyalty with the fact that they will eat any shit made by YG. This mv is in fact another copy of BP's work. I personally like the mini-album (I'm a YG stan so I've always been biased toward that sound) but agree that I don't really need full English songs. I think the mistake they make is that it worked for BP (somewhat) but BP were natural speakers so they could add the right inflections. I love the Stuck In The Middle remix and wish that was the original version, it's so nostalgic and reminds me of 2NE1 first album, BIGBANG earlier poppier stuff.
Overall, BABYMON have a bit of an identity crisis. Within YG though there is a signature sound/aesthetic each group has always found their niche. I personally do want more up-tempo edgy bubblegum pop for them (kinda like BP As If it's Your Last) because they're still so young. Definitely more vocally driven choruses, I don't need a ballad, just more vocal lol. Can't wait to see what's next for them.

That YG cage is protecting YG artist from going insane. Other agencies work their idols like a horse and later the group become boring with being overcrowded track list with very mediocre tracks.YG have a very decent schedule and very forgiving to idols where they can mentally re-establish themselves specially after BOM case.
Oh and BP girls can't produce their own track now matter how much i loved them I know, Jisoo and Rose are singer song writer but Lisa and Jennie are performer like Beyonce they can't write or produce but they can perform. so BP didn't had much control over their album or song. You can see YG let their artist produce and write thing if they see potential..look at BIgbang, Ikon, AKMU, Treasure and Winner they produce and write their own because they can but not blackpink.

They were saying it was amazing; wow, everything is perfect. It is letterally BM =BP in every aspect; also, in this MV, I still can't see a strong choreography or topic. Since their debut, I have always said I wish that BM had their own identity; everything screams BP and YG needs to change their MV settings. It is so frustrating. Every reactor or even on Facebook, I always tell them to watch all YG songs from the start of its establishment and kpop history; they will share mine and your opinion. Have the same sentiment, this production sound that YG keeps making is becoming very stale... its almost like there's too much fodder in the sound where its almost like the beat is controlling the talent instead of letting the talent shine themselves.
