I just captured some eggs out of my 20 gallon long planted shrimp tank with these in it and the eggs are absolutely itty bitty. It’ll be my second take on hatching them and I’ve gone a different way collecting them so hoping to grow my little colony! (:

Celestials are pretty in an up close color photo but I find they don’t really show up in the tank. They come across as colorless grey/brown unless you are really up close and the light catches them just right.

I soak all my plants for 2 minutes in 3% hydrogen peroxide, and water, then rinse them in another container . Before I add them to my tank.. I don’t know for sure if this would kill other pests. I do it to get rid of any black beard algae spores that might be on the plants

That seems very thorough! I wouldn’t doubt snail eggs surviving it however, but I’ve never tried.

How do we get ember tetras to colour as much as yours. I see even your female ones are nice and bright. I have mine for almost a month and only slightly have they come to their orange colour. Is it the food?

I tend to only feed a “premium” flake or pellet, but the difference in price is minimal. Omega One and Bug Bites are my go-to.
I have also found that it just takes a lot of time. The female ember has been in my care for a couple years now, but I don’t think she started off with that deep orange colour.

They might be young? You may also have been sold baby Zebra danios instead of CPDs…

No. The only aggression I have noticed is breeding/sparring aggression. They are quite unlike other danios.
