Thanks for the advice. Seeing it done gives confidence to try the job myself. Fixed my coolant leak from watching this video. I had 2 repair shops tell me they had to remove the cab to fix this. $3500 quote. Fixed it myself for $130 for parts and a couple special tools.
You are saving for us a lot of money! Just finished replacement of the egr cooler, found this video. I'm very impressed with the way how well you are explaining everything! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saved me a real headache finding my leak! Just bought my truck from a guy who had replaced the radiator and hoses trying to find a mystery leak. I also replaced a leaking oil line fitting (same fitting as coolant line fitting) while the plenum was removed. The oil line fitting is on top of the housing of the turbo to the left of the fitting on the video. ( left as your under the hood facing the windshield) I was able to unclip just the end of the oil line and carefully "finess" it up and out of the fitting. The orings had also failed in this fitting.Great video, well worth the time I spent fixing these leaks! Thank you
Thanks for watching Brian! Hearing feedback from people that these videos helped is always a highlight of my day.
Part numbers?
You do a good job of balancing the amount of detail with my intelligence. I’m no novice with engines, but I am new to the 6.7.
i realize I am pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new movies online?
Great Video, Thank you!! Job took me about three hours working at a leisurely pace, and including the 45 minutes it took to get a dropped socket out of the engine valley........Turbo air line came off in a second by pulling up on the retention clip to disengage all three tabs at once. Thanks again!!
Just took my truck to ford for an oil change and they discovered coolant leak . They didn't have a technician to look at it find and fix it. So I'm glad you posted this video now I know where the heck it is. I couldn't find where the drops were coming from. Thank you.
New to the channel & 6.heaven owner! Appreciate you & your knowledge as well as all you do behind the scenes to get your videos out to us. It goes to show knowledge is power & power is $$$ & the money you save us!!!!
6 Point Heaven … I like it!!
Excellent video. Nice to see a younger tech that’s scientific and thoughtful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Vid, just completed an air charge cooler replacement, it was blowing pressure into the secondary cooling system ,which only can hold 5 psi , emptying the secondary coolant tank, thus causing the trans to overheat,. So on the 2015 6.7 the erg is on the primary cooling system and the trans cooler and the air charge cooler is on the secondary . The ford service site shows that also. Great job keep shipping those vids.
Thank Rick!
“A beer or two whatever helps you get this apart” grabs my bowl
Great video. As for the hose spring clamp. get as screw driver under it near the center tab and the whole spring clomp should just be completely removed.
Thanks for watching!
@@InTheShop I was really worried about the hose spring clamp. I’m so glad that TarpBuddy made this comment above. I tried it and it worked perfectly. No problem whatsoever. Thank you so much for the video and thank you so much for all of the explainations and details in your videos. Our dad taught us girls to change our own oil, pump our own gas and put a spare tire on, but I seemed to take things a little further. I really enjoy working on my own stuff. People like you posting this amazing information on YT make cool things possible for me. Thank you so much!
ARod's got a good shot of using the mirror to see the leak. Book-beater tip is to cut the tubing at the fitting and remove it with the bayonet in place, if you can.
Thank you! Been pissing me off I couldn’t actually find the coolant leaking and I could smell it and see it keep getting low but no pooling .
Hopefully this helped!
Great video, and I believe I must have that same leak, smell it but can't see it. Anyways I think the trick to clamp is to get screwdrivers in the middle of the two springs that way all 3 detents disengage.
Yup that is the easiest way.
Great video and instructions. Made this fix much easier to get done. Thanks.
Thank you!
Great job always love watching you show us ow to help ourselves!
Great video, turned out not to be my problem but was still a necessary step in diagnosing it.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching Justin!
What was your issue ?
Wasn't my issue either. I'm still looking. It's a slow leak for me.
great explanation of the details. They are so important and save so much time and aggravation.. I haven't seen anything else like it on how to wrench videos
Thank you!
Great video, I'm having this problem now. I replaced my coolant feed line with a Sinister Diesel Turbo Coolant Feed line. Also, I recommend the Pusher Coolant Reroute line. Cleans up the engine well.
Nice work, I cant find the link to the parts needed? I thought you said you would put part numbers and tools used some where.
Thanks for covering it in such detail
Thank you! All the parts are linked in the description of the video.
I believe this is my issue I noticed a small leak a year ago. It got a little worse this winter. But not bad only added a gallon in a year
Looking for the parts links, couldn’t find them. I’ll be doing this repair this week and they would be helpful. Great video.
The links are all in the description of the video. Let me know if they work.
@@InTheShop they worked. Thank you.
I've had mine in the shop 4x's. Over $5000 later and none of the mechanics can seem to find the coolant leak. Found a puddle in the valley today. I'm sure hopeful this is the problem and it can finally be resolved. Taking it back to the shop... I just had my nails done, and I have way to much to do to tackle this job. Too bad your not here to fix it for me.
Great video I was kinda freaking out. I was doing my front brake shoes and saw it was leaking. Didnt know what the hell it could be or how difficult it was going to be to get too. This video definitely makes me feel better about doing it. But your video has put my mind at ease. My only suggestion is maybe a gopro or a cheaper action camera like I've got so you can get into those tight spots to film, it would benefit you in the long run
Thanks for watching!
the best video on the replace the tube thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great video , thank you for all the details n info.
thanks for the video. Very good. did you say you could see this leak prior to the plenum being pulled off?
If you use a mirror you can see it
What a nightmare! There is no room. All this was done in the truck? This kid is good.
Thanks Jeff! Its honestly not that bad once you get the intake out.
Just did this today. Didn’t remove the intercooler pipe. I would say this is a difficulty level 5 out of 10 just because of the location of the nipple as well as getting the clamps off the backside of the upper intake manifold. I’ve done harder tasks like deleting the EGR.
Thanks for watching!
What’s funny is this did not fox my issue. My real issue was the crossover gasket. It was shot. Had that replaced and no more coolant loss.
How about a video on the turbo oil fitting
If I get one in I will make a video for sure. Thank yo for watching.
love it. thanks for the parts lists . Subbed
I bought the water tube and new fitting. The fitting looks different than the one you showed. has it been superseded? The one I have looks like a Ford fuel line quick connect
I had the turbo off to fix the exhaust manifold studs that broke on the rear drivers side, I replaced the line with a OE Ford unit, I also replaced another line on the other side of the turbo, and I still have missing coolant, around 1/2 gallon will top up the reservoir, but there is no visible traces, just a smell, this is truly driving me crazy, any thoughts on what is going on?
Hey Darrin, Did you replace the fittings that thread into the turbo also or just the lines?
@@InTheShop
Replaced the fittings also, but I think I found a drip this morning in the front, so it's probably the water pump 😥

inner cooler leak boss its getting into your air side of the inner cooler and your engine is sucking it in and burning it
@@deerichardson4946
I did end up finding a coolant leak under the truck, along with an oil leak, the gaskets between the block and oil cooler were weeping, and finally showed on the driveway.
Is there any other coolent lines in back of moto
You did a wonderful job 👌👌👌👌
Will that line will leak when the truck is off
What is the best kit for checking coolant additive Ph etc..
I like the fleetgaurd or Baldwin test strips.
@@InTheShop Thanks, any recommendations on best place to acquire them. Seem like different versions run amuk and different prices.
Would this type of leak cause white smoke to come out the exhaust?
Thanks for a very good explanation and video.
Great video 👍🏼
Great video 👍 why has someone not made a updated set up for this problem? Seems to me like a AN fitting and a AN line would be a permanent repair. I have to do this on my truck as well there is no way I am putting that crappy ford fitting back into the turbo so it can fail again.
Is there a difference in year models and that hose. I have a 2016 f350 and thru looking it appears that there is 2 different style hoses.
Saw a tip that says, if you’re replacing the whole line and fitting, just cut the tube as far down near the hard 90 degree turn with a sawzall and remove the whole fitting with the deep socket, skipping the whole picking process, haven’t tried it but I’m thinking about it 😂
Is there any specific way to add coolant in?
Awesome 👍 ,This videos is very helpful 👍
Thank you!
Bolts on top of plentum have torque specs?
So my truck sat for a week ran perfect before hand and now after i floor it and let off i get a puff of white smoke really noticeable but goes away pretty quick, also only does this when im throwing into drive and reverse really quick when im parking or coming to a stop at a light? But no white smoke when accelerating full throttle or driving normal? Would this be that line leaking? Or something else i am baffled its done this out of no where just from sitting and workin and running perfect before hand
I just ran into this problem Friday at work and today took a look at it customer said it was oil 🛢 filling up in the valley and I found it out to be coolant...now I know from where
Hopefully this helps.
Where is your location
I changed mine out but for some reason I can’t get the line back into the fitting. Any advice on why it won’t go back in?
GREAT VIDEO!!!
What would a dealer charge for this repair?
Thank you so much for this video! Have you used or saw the Sinister Diesel coolant line for the 2011 to 2014 6.7 ? Just wondering if it is a better part than the factory replacement.
Thanks for watching! I have seen the Sinister line but I haven't used it which is why I didn't recommend it. I like to only recommend parts I have tested and know they are good. It does appear to be a better design than factory. I would suggest trying to read some reviews on it.
Hey having a coolant burning issue with my 2015 f450 burning white smoke smelling like coolant when system is under pressure if you take coolant cap off it stops smoking and burning coolant any ideas?
Wat year is this engine
Thank you so much. I think that is what my problem is on my 2012 f250. I'm smelling coolant from that side. Did you use the same clip from the old hose and then put the plastic retainer back on or does it come with a new clip. Thanks so much for your great video.
The fitting comes with the clip and the hose comes with the plastic retainer.
@@InTheShop My hose didn't come with a plastic retainer. I think they changed the fitting to a Ford fuel line type
What do you charge for that job?
Can I get a part number?
how much coolant needs to be drained ?
I usually drain the entire system because it’s usually due for coolant but if you drain it down half way you should be able to complete the repair.
Have you ever heard of coolant coming out of exhaust tip? 2019 6.7 powerstroke the other day it was about 40 degrees out and I had the truck running for about 15 minutes then shut it off and noticed a small puddle of bright green coolant accumulating in the exhaust tip. Coolant from turbo leaking? Reservoirs both still full, anyone ever heard of this?
Hey my truck smokes up really bad under the hood every time I come to a stop any idea what that could be?
I would try to determine what kind of smoke it is. Coolant leaking will have a sweet smell, oil will have a very distinct burning smell, exhaust will smell like soot. I would figure that out then go from there.
Another thing the links below are dead links for the kits
Sorry about that. Sometimes the links need to be updated. I'll check them out
Better idea: cut tube as close to fitting as possible, remove fitting w/ socket. Install new. Done, no fight!
Use a jiffy tight tool it comes right off.
That little 1/2" hose busted on me and I'm having a hell of a time replacing it.
They can be tough.
The line you said not to break. Will I did how can I find one for sale
The Ford dealer
Wonderful job you are great thanks a lot….
Thank you!
My secondary tank is not staying full on my 2011 f250 6.7
Could be an intercooler failure
@@InTheShop I looked more and I see coolant on the passenger side on top of the engine block. I also see coolant by the EGR down by the oil pan. I'm thinking replace the hose that goes to the EGR.
Link for the turbo feed line fitting no longer works.
Derek Smith thank you. I will update it in a few minutes
@@InTheShop thank you!
@@dereksmith8521 You may have to order it from the ford dealer. Its not looking like its available on amazon currently.
@@InTheShop thanks for the info.
Great video, Thank you very much. I liked and subscribed.
Where are you located
Massachusetts
Does the 6.2 gas have the same problem?
Who’s narrating the clip The Karate Kid. Thanks for the info wax on wax off.
2 screw drivers on each side and that will pop off real quick
If it’s common , why ain’t ford doing a TBS or recall
its a whole lot easier with the engine out of the truck
Thats for sure.

Thanks man. Same to you. I’m all about working together.
Got a 14 f250 platinum 6.7 losing coolant even if not being driven would this hose make it do that
Shows Us where it's at what you're talking about
Who are the sorry SOB's that gave this a thumbs down?
clip removal tip 101, Have someone else do it Ha Ha. No not really!
😂they are a pain.
Jiffy tight tool theycome right off.
After dealing most of my life with Toyota I got ford f450 super duty with 6.7 engine . And I found out how difficult and uncomfortable will be to fix. Looks like the ford engineers are not humans. Why everything is so complicated? Worse than Mazda))))
So you wont do it yourself and thr dealerships make profit from the cheap rubber parts and labor.
Because of RUclips videos I won't give them a chance to take my hard earned dollars.
Geezzz that motor is so crasty you must of live next to the ocean or where they throw salt on the road , engine looks nasty
That’s nothing. I live in Massachusetts. This truck is a gem compared to most
@@InTheShop that's crazy I live in Oregon I have 6.7 truck with 300k miles and my motor looks like it just came out of a showroom , but I did same fix on my truck coolant start leak same place as described at 275k
Is that same leak for the 2017
