If you’re not subscribed, please do! This man has provided over a decade’s worth of content and probably saved everyone hundreds of dollars from not buying lazily done figures. Let’s get him to 200K!
Facts
100%! Anthony is a legend!
This is all facts!
Not enough people subscribe to him cuz they can't handle the truth! Anthony isn't one to just say good things about a fan favorite character. If the figure isn't worth it then it isnt and people don't like that. He should easily have a million subscribers.
100%, any figure company should hire him, idk what's going on in their head.
I kind of love how Darwin all but replaces the common ruler on a lot of figure reviews these days. It's so funny to me 🤣 The size comparison with him just works!
I don’t think there is enough demand for a curt conners. In my opinion this is a better release than most of the retro Spider-Man figures, including the new over hyped cel shaded Spider-Man
I really like the colors on the cell shaded spiderman. I could do without Hasbro's attempts at cell shading (though that one is better than most of the xmen).
Hasbro has set the bar so low that anything decent enough is a "better release than most" nowadays, lol.
Just look at that new Spiral, which is a great figure for sure, but it's still the bare minimum when it comes to Hasbro standards.
@@nhyar but you can say that for almost every toy company. It’s not just a Hasbro release. I’ve seen Matel have some horrible QC issues, McFarlane, Mafex, figuarts, hot toys and etc.
@@sithlord757 We weren't talking about qc tho
@@nhyar we aren’t really talking anything specific either. You said Hasbro has set the bar low which is pretty general. I chose to pick on the QC
I really like this Lizard but agree with many of your points. "It could have been so much better" is a statement that can be made about most Marvel Legends. It's frustrating because they are so cheap and take so many shortcuts.
Lately, I'm tuning in for Darwin's adventures at the end. Usually the figure on review isn't particulary good, but man, with use like that, that Darwin figure is worth every penny 😉
The classic Lizard is already so close to an average human proportionally, really no reason they couldn’t have given us swappable legs, arms and a head for Curt for the already inflated price
Thatd be the most buff curt Connors ever
"derpy head" love it AC. I have the old Marvel Select Lizard (with no articulation) because I like the "monster" aspect of the character better then the comic based "gecko" variant that this product is. I always suspected Lizard to be bigger than Spidey because of the transformation.
Still looking for this figure. this was the only exclusive figure I had problems getting last year.
im never going to get tired of those ending shots with darwin.....i always get a good laugh.
If Hasbro didn't do the McFarlane version of Lizard, this Silver Age version was the version I wanted. Personally this is the ML of the year for me. My only real complaint is that the bendy tail doesn't go all the way from the base to the tip. However much better than Scorpion's. Still one of Hasbro's strongest releases in the past few years. Also you missed the calf swivel
I can't wait until you finally get to show us final product pieces from your ninja cyborg line. I love ninjas, I love cyborgs. Your idea golden. Honestly I'm starting to get tired of soldiers. The Furay planet line was a huge breath of fresh air. WE NEED MORE MONSTERS!!!
Cel shaded animated spider only had two per store. Easily the hardest figure to find of last year. My preorder also never went through. I loathe Walmart and their "customer service".
I did preorder Lizard though. Great release.
I noticed that alotve of the cel shaded spidey headsculpts on eBay have misaligned weblines.
The tail needed a stronger wire gauge.
6:22 TWSS! Awesome poses😂 excellent review ❤️❤️❤️🥰💯
I had an Animated Series Lizard figure as a kid with a weird fabric lab coat. I always liked the Lizard but it bugged me that the toy was so cheap feeling. I remember having a Lizard that transformed into a crocodile which was cool, but it didn't hit the spot. I think this Lizard hits the spot and it's what I've always wanted even with the bubbly fingers. I'm just bored with Hasbro style figures and I literally just bought it out of nostalgia like an idiot
Glad to see that you found it 👍.
I like the more lizard look of the BAF but this one is really good
Comic accurate one for me. This is the version that I was introduced first through Marvel Tales. Love me my classic Lizard. The flask with the yellow "liquid", looks more like a hunk of cheese inside a flask.😆
I have an extra cel-shaded spider moc if you need one
Had bought this on Walmart twice. Cancelled my order both times. I finally found one by itself at the store before Xmas. One of the few figures I would of got 2 of to have both heads on it.
Definitely the 90s cartoon version!! And would love him to be taller.
Bros rlly expecting hot toys level stuff for hasbro prices
The cartoon version would be better as in episode 1 of the 90s cartoon he was a big boy. Loved the dynamic battle between him and spidey in the sewers
I like this one, I'm glad I never got the old BAF and I lucked out with this release because this is my Lizard the comic book one.
Thanks for the review Anthony.
This is the best figure in the line so far. Hits almost every mark perfectly.
I can hit every pose for my photography. No looseness. And a great range of motion while still looking fluid.
You missed the mark. Your words don’t match the figure you are holding.
i'm just not making stuff up to feel better about an over-priced figure. it doesn't have good articulation. it has almost no paint. the accessories are bad. the sculpt on the pants is bad. you immediately discredited your comment by saying it's the best figure in the line so far. it's not even close.
No offence but this is by far one of the best Lizard figures.
Great review and I agree definitely so many missed opportunities on this figure release. It's a shame too since the Lizard is one of my most favorite Spidey characters. I like the animated series version the most too, hated the live action film version but the effects were done well on him I'll give it that. Hopefully we'll get a figure someday like the one you described
"No animated series version"...Of course not, how would they re-sell you the figure in a few months if they included that.
Lol
Great review as always my dear Antony..Thank you very much …
I don’t think an articulated jaw would be necessary here
I love the 90s better hopefully we can get a figure of that version
What!? The beaker is an obvious reference to when Peter stuck a tube of play dough in Dr Conners flask, which pissed Connors off turning him back into the lizard. 0/10
Please bring back Bullseye Darwin...cause that head on Darwin's body is so disturbing.
Darwin is the most powerful character in Marvel I'm convinced
This is how I remember Lizard in Secret Wars back in the 1980's I think. It's also pretty close to Ditko's art.
The leg not kicking forward enough could be fixed with a sharp scalpel (I did it to Tigra), same for the feet.
The torso and leg sculpt looks fine to me. I agree about the daft way they did the liquid in the flask looking wrong.
Hasbro cheaped out with the hands. Why not two fists and gripping hands?
And that was the best lizard we ever got as figure
I like both Lizard versions but am more of a mark for the classic comics. I would've got this for sure if it was better value for the money. Might've even bought it if I could find it at a Walmart anywhere around Toronto.
Lmao " anything that's not trash is a good 1"
If anyone can lend a hand to me getting animated Spidey I'd appreciate it too lol. Just want toys at cost even small finder fee but sixty+? Good grief.
Classic comic book era is my favorite I read most my comics in 80's and early 90's prefer classic designs .for the most part.
Wouldn’t a waist swivel break up the mold far more egregiously than the current set up? Also any variety of inclusion for a Kurt Conners would just be putting an even heftier price tag on this release, especially when most have zero desire for that form. At most I would’ve switched the beakers out for a half Kurt/lizard transforming head.
Or, now hear me out, they actually give us more stuff in the package without raising the price... Because these figures already cost way too much. And no, a waist twist, or more accurately a ball peg, wouldn't break up the sculpt more and it would work way better.
I like my classic style designs so I really like this Lizard, but my mental image is the McFarlane design for the Lizard.
No wash, no sewer water stains on the coat, no teeth on that head 🤨😑 this is why I'm extremely picky now on what I buy. Thanks Anthony 💯
They missed an opera unity to just have alternate head and fingers from the animated series. Because the card…?
I agree with you. Marvel legends look so cheap just like colourful plastic kid's toy. McFarlane toys are not good always but sometimes they release some good figures. I don't know in my opinion McFarlane sculpture and paintwork for some of their figures looks so good. That realistic feeling I surely miss from Marvel legends.
This is the figure I was really anticipating since I saw Hasbro making the 90s animated Spiderman figures. I was disappointed after getting this, it looks like Hasbro just modernized a bit the old ToyBiz Lizard (from the 90s animated series) instead of giving us an animation accurate figure.
This has problems standing unless the tail is used as a tripod. Due to how limited you can bend the tail, it feels as though they copied the whipping tail gimmick from the ToyBiz Lizard then decided to make it a bendy one.
The head sculpt is ok but I would prefer an alternate version of the head with a tongue. For accessories, wouldn't it be better to get the gene modifying gun from the series instead of the flask and beaker?
I really want to like this figure but can't, overall this to me feels like just another overpriced Hasbro figure (where I live, this figure on release is more expensive than the Mcfarlane Killer Croc on its release, but the Killer Croc figure is bigger and has more details on the sculpt).
hey are you selling the rival clan toys yet
Not yet
@@AnthonysCustoms when will you i want one!
FINALY
so is this out rn cuz on amazon its 64$ where did you find this?
Dang i didnt expect you not to like this one very much. This was my #1 legends last year
Why?
@@AnthonysCustomswhy i didnt expect you to not like this or why it was my #1?
i actually prefer the mcu version, i love the just monster lizard and it makes him feel more like a threat, im not a fan of the regular human size lizard with the lab coat and clothes still on, the movie version makes more sense to me in the terms of the transformation from connors to the lizard
For me it's the 90s animated look. No contest.
I know someone is gonna hit me but, I like the version of Ultimate Spiderman Lizard.
This thing has a retail price of $60 in my country, I don't think this is a deluxe release to deserve that price...
Passed on this thing because I'm not paying that much for a normal figure. Dr. Strange was a Walmart exclusive too, came with more stuff and was cheaper.
I'll just wait for the eventual repaint/retool for the animated version.
Animated 100%
i was considering to get this. Im not collecting this spider-man retro wave at all. More of an X-men guy but i was considering it. Now after this im less interested. It looks cool and all... accessory wise too but what Anthony pointed out with the legs and tail are just making me less interested. It feels half-assed again and yes i want that animated look.
Heyy what's up Anthony! 😁✌🏼
Love those darwin beating the shit out of the reviewed figure of the video photos at the end hahaha
You need to develop a separate Marvel Legends score scale. Make life easier on you. It's better to look at ML as their own thing. At the end you can also score it on your personal action figure scale like you always do.
Every line i review is rated independently... Or at least price brackets and styles are
i had the option to buy both the spiderman and the lizard and i passed on the lizard because my custom one is just better the spiderman is ok if you just need a spiderman its perfect to me...maybe should of been a bit bigger but other than that a hard pass on lizard and iff you need a spiderman get this one
What's up Doc?
It could have been better but it’s better than any mcfarlane figure.
That's definitely not true
I kept saying that this Lizard is not good enough and yet I've seen prominent toy reviewers here in RUclips placing this half-measure in the number 1 or 2 spot of the best ML of 2022! I know that toy reviews are completely subjective and that's not a problem. "To each their own". What surprises me though is the level of weak explanation and rationale that other reviewers put out when comparing this Lizard against the new Dr. Strange or the Spiral figure. I'd say this Lizard would be in the Top 10 but not high to be in the 1 or 2 spot.
If a review is completely subjective, there's no point to it. It serves no purpose. There are most definitely objective criteria which can be used to judge figures.
I like it but I don’t. I’d prefer a 90’s animated series release.
Most disappointed sounding 8/10 I've ever heard.
And it’s on the 90s card withought the 90s design…..
I like this figure fine enough as is but I don’t $30 like it.
At $20 I’d be really happy with this.
Yeah, it’s sad
WHY TF HE BUILT LIKE THAT
This has to be the saddest most down 8/10 by Anthony to date LOL.
It could've been so much better.
Hey I have an extra spider man for You lmk if ur interested
Message me in social media please. I think i have one coming but in case that falls through.
I actually passed on this figure, despite being a huge collector of Spider-Man related Marvel Legends. I just don't see what all the hype is about. Lizard should be on a bulkier/larger body sculpt too. Imo the BAF and the Marvel Select Comic Lizard are FAR superior. Also the price point is just too high. I can't find it for less than 50 on eBay or Mercari.
Bros rlly expecting hot toys level stuff for hasbro prices
No. In fact I didn't talk about expectations a single time.
