I think I prefer the older facial prints for most of the figures; especially Boromir, Aragorn, Legolas, and Elrond. Overall it seems the newer variants are a bit more cartoon-like in their likeness.
He doesn't use a brick piece, robes/dresses have a new piece that I think is the same height and plugs into the torso like legs do. It's much more secure and has a more believable shape
4:10 they have sad/angry face, yes..but it is Samwise's face, Merry's older one has a smile. I think old version of Merry is absolutely fantastic. :) Anyway, thanks for the video!
The moment when the "classic old" weapon pieces, you refer to, are actually all new to you, because you've been a kid in the 80's-90's... You feel like our dear old Bilbo.
My main gripe is how they made a new elf hair mold and gave it to every elf, where in the past Elrond and Arwen had their own hair and Legolas's hair still looked good. Also, Sam and Merry's hair color being switched has me on the fence as well.
@@KerioFive sure, show me, I just made the one from the game with 2 reddish brown studs that hold a white gem then held in with a brown telescope and a 3L bar (the shorter one) on the bottom of the telescope, but I'm still interested to here yours
@@jeffjefferson7634 it involves cutting a piece, a brown "1x1 with clip (thick ring)" cut the 'thick ring' off and stick it on the staff he comes with. Then I put a clear stud on top. I wouldn't usually cut pieces but I like how this turned out enough :)
I dislike the new elf hair for most of the characters especially legolas cause that makes him look like he has a receding hairline, but the Arwyn one loses the curl aspect. Otherwise looks great
Something I noticed that really tripped me up is Sam and Merry's hair colors swapped places between the first wave of sets and now, it just feels wrong to me even if it's more accurate (which I'm not sure it really is tbh)
I actually prefer all the original elf hairpieces. Elrond and Arwen used to have unique hair, now all the elves have the same hair shape. Except the statues of elves! Where are the stone-grey elf hairpieces?? Bilbo's dual-molded legs are too similar in colors; I keep thinking he is just not wearing pants! And I'd like a new hairpiece for Gandalf that combines the hat and long hair; he looks too clean cut.
The video says “Fellowship Comparison.” Comparing Arwen and Elrond is just a bonus. Last I checked, Glóin wasn’t part of the fellowship. Are you sure you know what _you’re_ Tolkien about?
dropped a sub thanks for the comparison, and I honestly agree older Legolas looks better I think I prefer the older hair model as well. I'm really excited to get the new sword molds i've been contemplating getting them custom but as somewhat lego purist it just doesn't feel the same. hopefully I can actually get this as growing up I missed out hard on the lotr theme
Sam is fine, boromir has just less detailed face but better torso printing. Legolas is just cursed and Aragorn's face is just awful, he now has too much beard.
Feels wierd they would try so hard for the characters and their weapons so I think we can expect more sets are on the way (hopefully a bit more affordable)
Lego makes such weird decisions when it comes to new pieces, we have a few new weapons which are nice I guess but I would have been fine with the older versions, yet they still didn't make a new piece for gandalfs staff?!
I like the updates. I just really hope that we get the broken hilt of Narsil with the statue, since we're getting more accurate personalized weapon pieces.
2:08 - I can;t understand, why new Gandalf have no stick like this from Lego LOTR game. THere was more accurate and it was made from one short stick (like this from old Bilbo) one element which looked like lightsaber, two ,,ponits" and crystal
My opinion about minifigures is that some of them like elfs were done better when they made the Old versions like the faces were looking more like characters from movie also I dont really like the New elf hair but other figutes are pretty good maybe boromir dont have as good face as he had but yea
I'm so Dissapointed in most of the figures hairs and faces.. Aragorn isn't mentioned by anyone, but his beard is SO much less detailed.. And gimlis beard color is so off
I absolutely love the new style the minifigures are in, it feels more polished and lego-like rather than trying to be super realistic, and for the most part I love the figures as well - my only complaints being Legolas' and Arwen's faces, I just feel like if LEGO was going to make so many other new prints for the other fellowship members they could have at least designed one for Legolas and Arwen. Great review, though! I can't wait to get my hands on the set.
All of these feel like massive downgrades to me, especially all the new face prints that are just way more generic and look way less like the actual characters
If you combine the old and the new figures together, you’ll probably get the best rendition of the figure ever
I’ve been thinking that’s what I should do
I think I prefer the older facial prints for most of the figures; especially Boromir, Aragorn, Legolas, and Elrond. Overall it seems the newer variants are a bit more cartoon-like in their likeness.
The new faces have grown on me but the Legolas one is just a reuse of the Steve Rodgers face which does not look right at all
@lynnlantern7513 2018 han solo as well I believe
@@lynnlantern7513 yeah I am not a fan of them just re using old faces
Cartoon like?
I think Arwen’s face was better in the old one as well
The nice thing about using the brick piece for legs for Gandalf is that brick legs make you taller. I felt like Gandalf should be tall.
He doesn't use a brick piece, robes/dresses have a new piece that I think is the same height and plugs into the torso like legs do. It's much more secure and has a more believable shape
In the movies he actually is, in the books he was around 5'6
I hope we get a new Bag End set that’s just as beautiful as Rivendell and the recent ideas bag end sets, and I hope they give us the 13 dwarves
4:10 they have sad/angry face, yes..but it is Samwise's face, Merry's older one has a smile. I think old version of Merry is absolutely fantastic. :) Anyway, thanks for the video!

I think it actually works well for Elrond tbh just because of that
I mostly dislike it because all the elves use it, taking away all the uniqueness that the old ones had...
I kind of like the fact that they are different, now a lot of my old fellowship figures feel better to have
These new ones are nice- but the old face prints were wayyyyyyyyy better

You got Merry and Sam's heads the wrong way round
I really like how you made capes, a quiver, & other accessories for your minifigs. You are clever!
Thank you very much!
This is amazing!!!!
Finally after years of waiting, more Lord Of The Rings Lego 🙌

I agree on all points

I’ll just have to compare them when I actually get the set in hand 😄
@@BuilderTim could’ve in the video like the rest of the minifigs tho lol
Having the entire fellowship I think will allow this set to pay for itself in value.
You've got Sam's face on Merry, that's why he looks so stressed
The new facial expressions show the cost 💰 of the new set

This comment discribes my thoughts perfect
So excited for the new prints and legs and weapons and Boromir’a shield!!!!!!
The old Merry had a big grin, I agree about pippin tho
They did my boys Legolas, Aragorn, Sam and Boromir dirty but I ADORE the new Gandalf.
Sam is fine, boromir has just less detailed face but better torso printing. Legolas is just cursed and Aragorn's face is just awful, he now has too much beard.
I think the thing that's off about Legolas' hair is that the side strands go in front of his hears instead of behind.
Ah, good observation
Good point
Also they are too thick and Legolas looks like he looses his hair (balding) and I hate how LEGO reused Han Solo's face.
Feels wierd they would try so hard for the characters and their weapons so I think we can expect more sets are on the way (hopefully a bit more affordable)
Agreed
Lego makes such weird decisions when it comes to new pieces, we have a few new weapons which are nice I guess but I would have been fine with the older versions, yet they still didn't make a new piece for gandalfs staff?!
So true!
Aragorn and Boromir still have beards somehow despite their elvish heritage.
I sold my Sam figure last year and I hope I get the new version soon
2:08 I’d say the biggest difference is the hairpiece.
The ring has printing!!!
Does it really?!
The new Legolas minifigure doesn't do it for me. Mostly the faceprint. Everything else is fine.
When the new set is released, will the old sets/minifigures be cheaper or more expensive?
I have a feeling more expensive
My only problem is that the new torso’s for the Hobbits are significantly less detailed. And the elf hair is the same for all the elves
To be specific, Bilbo is eleventy in this set 😌
The carousel doesn’t have “all the minifigs” in the set…😅
They really need to make a set with Theoden
Old ones more detailed and Better
I wonder how they’re going to make Gollum. 🤔
I like the updates. I just really hope that we get the broken hilt of Narsil with the statue, since we're getting more accurate personalized weapon pieces.

Everything is lovely execpt the reuse of so many faces! Legolas, Merry, Arwen and probably Gandalf are reusing existing ones:(
Omg that butchering of Aragorn at 3:09 😢
I’ve been trying to get better at everyone’s pronunciation, but I guess the way I learned it as a child’s just came out during my excitement 😂
Why you switch Sam and Merry's heads?
Oops
Why are Frodos eyes white and blank?
2:47 - new Arwen is better than old one by... lips. Old version looked as if had ,,so big" comparing to movie
Bilbo’s not part of the fellowship!! He’s part of the council, but not the fellowship.
Ok never mind, I watched more and Elrond is also not part of the fellowship. You should rename your video, LEGO council comparison.

It’s a custom sign made by Ktown bricks. They are pretty cool, it’s printed on real Lego the same way Lego does their, with a PAD machine
