- Bishop Michael Brooks passed away on July 16th. Bishop Brooks and Fred Hammond were both members of the iconic gospel group, COMMISSIONED. Even though a tribute service and homegoing celebration for Bishop Brooks will be held later this week, Fred Hammond will not be attending. Here's why.

Good lord…I am just getting the News of his passing, his wife Lisa gave me my first Gospel Album In 1984 Commissions 2nd Album and it opened up a world that I can say was the best part of my life. Bishop Brooks gave me the opportunity to sing on his Micheal Brooks Young Artist for Christ Albums in 1990 which also featured Yolanda Adams before she became well known. This one cuts deep. My knees will be hitting the floor in prayer for all the family and friends…fans….etc along with reaching out for any donation I can give. Get your rest Fred and remember to get a grounding mate to sleep on it will help your body heal.

You brother Hammond, Michael Brooks, Keith Staten and the entire Commissioned group saved my life as a young Christian who messed around and got pregnant. I still listen to your music from the late 80s and 90s, because most of the Christian music today (to me) is garbage. God bless you all. Bishop Brooks is gone, but never forgotten and he is beholding the face of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!

Fred & Keith Staten gave such beautiful tributes to their friend! Man I wish this would not have been titled like this. I had already seen Fred’s explanation in his FB page and this is misleading. Sometimes health issues, financial issues, prior commitments, work etc. will hinder your ability to physically be present. I was unable to attend my sisters funeral because I'm dealing with the same sicknesses that she succumbed to, doesn't mean I don't love her it's simply a fact of life.
