However, I have noticed that the Sony a Mark one it’s totally forgotten in the dust Well, I can’t complain I am using the 7i just for photos even though it can shoot 4k 24 and 4k 30 But on the video side atm I’m happy enough with zv e10 and I will upgrade to fx3 when zv. It is strange that actually many think that that is the better way and what customers "deserve" 😮 I like the α1 in the way it was released, I never expected it to be updated via Software and I hope more people start to see it like that 🙃
I agree 100%. The best way to keep a customer is to keep the firmware coming. If it's a brand new feature that they spent a lot of research money to bring forth, then at least offer that as an upgrade for a small fee. Panasonic when they added vlog to my older camera just said yah you all can upgrade. It will cost you 100 bucks... Sony could do the same and keep their fans rather than see them leave for another ecosystem.
As an A1 and A7Siii owner, I feel Sony shafted me the most with the firmware updates because these are the only 2 Sony model that have the least firmware releases. It seems that they looked at what I owned and purposely ignored the particular models.
Great video. Man my partner and I are adding Sonys to our arsenal. I think it’s important to note that it’s better to master your current tools instead of always upgrading your gear. I love that you always provide specifics. Thanks for the insight.
I absolutely agree with you. It annoys me. Still no animal eye AF in video or tracking on option like the A7RV has. I think they will loose customers over it. They did have the best AF, but Canon is on par and Nikon very close. I really hope a great firmware update will be released instead of forcing is to buy an A1 mark II
Oh dear… I just put my foot down and said “Mats… seriously, the A7Siii did not became a bad camera just because a new is released”, so I still have my 2 work horses 😊 and ther is no maintenance needed thanks to no firmware updates 😂 Thanks for this video Peter.
I have the A1. I doubt I will be upgrading to the A1ii due to the lack of firmware updates for this flagship camera. There has been a lot of complaints about this on the internet, but Sony seems to ignore its customers which doesn't look good, and keeps pushing out cameras. I have invested in Sony with other cameras and lenses, but don't know if I will stick with them due to the lack of support.
For example the Canon R5 has had 13 firmware updates but only two of those 13 updates actually added features/functionality of which was nothing spectacular. The other 11 firmware updates were bug fixes or lens adaptations for newer lenses.
@@mike_s_media Focus breathing compensation, Different menu options (Photo Mode or Video Mode), Focus Heatmap, Car/Train/Insect/Plane AF, Opengate recording would be sick, Just a few things that i feel would make the camera feel fresh and new. At least for me!
I was an A1 and A7Siii owner until today, replaced the A7Siii with the A7CR. Seen little reason to keep the A7Siii anymore since the A1 does most of the work I want out of it for photography. The A7CR is my slow down and enjoy photography camera. The A1 has been a good camera for me.
Quite interestingly, Canon has updated my R5 with crazy new features like improved resolution (400 Megapixel), limitless video recordning without heating issues and much more. It's a surprising move, as many of us probably won't feel the need to upgrade to a new model for a very long time.
And in the same move has banned all 3rd party lenses from the RF mount, thereby shooting themselves and their customers in both feet. That said, the main crippling flaws with the R5 still exist, beginning with the terrible handling if you are a true hybrid shooter. I wanted to love this camera, but I'm so glad I got rid of it.
@@apocryphal_man Canon did actually allow for 3rd party lenses RF quite recently. I guess the pressure got too high in the end. Personally I don't mind the handling either. So I'm really glad I kept it. :)
I still use the a7siii and a7iii almost daily on commercial/celebrity shoots alongside people who still use old ass Canons for commercial photog work. I feel like none of these cameras are necessarily "outdated"
Nope, they certainly are not! Most cameras will last for 5-8 years quality wise, but firmwares should be updated with some new stuff. imagine getting open gate recording on the A7SIII!? That alone would be sick. Or even the same menu as the FX3? Or the possibility to choose between them.
I got the Sony A1 because it has all the capabilities I wanted for wildlife photography. I would appreciate firmware updates to add new features that have been added in more recent new cameras, but my A1 still does the job I bought it just as well as when it was new, so I still love this camera and unlike it seems a lot of owners do not feel aggrieved. The only latest feature I would really like it cannot do is pre capture like the OM1, but then no Sony camera at present has that capability- I guess that will be in the A1 mark 2?
Complitely igree on the bad support of post-buy from sony; I bought A7IV but nothing improovments, or new features. I can only imagine the frustration of one persone thath buy a A....great video man!!!
I completely agree Peter. And it is holding me back from buying the next model. I absolutely love my A7RIV camera, but it also had one update in 2020 after its release in 2019. I really hope they will improve this.
Couldn’t agree more….as sad as it is to say I enjoy using my fx30 over my A1 because of the features and functionality of the camera…. Imagine they come up with the A2 in the fx30 body 🤤🤤🤤
Wow I would alo be bumbed considering the price. Personally I shoot on a Leica Sl2s so i am still oldschool laying on the ground to get those low angle shots. But I just see it as good excercise for this old man. After 20 years of shooting I realize cameras are like people you can fall in love with them but they can still piss you off :)
Great video! I think across the board, the Sony a7s3 might be one of the greatest cameras ever created. For the price alone, it goes toe-to-toe with the A1. With the New A7r5, I agree, I feel like there's no reason to buy an A1 as there's just not enough upgrades/features being applied.
Canon added stuff with firmware updates and in my opinion made me a happier customer. So much that I bought another camera same model, R5. Not only is Sony not putting out updates, they’re not even budging on retail pricing for the A1. I’m on the fence waiting for the R1 and R5 II to come and sell my last Sony product because I have faith and experience that Canon will in fact look out for me down the road and not just in the front end.
With regards to your lack of flippy screen… What about using the Sony app on your phone to line up your shots? You shouldn’t have to do that, but it might be at work around.
@@kiwimike2330 no I haven’t had a Sony camera in a long time but I thought I heard they made it a little better recently but I guess it’s still pretty bad like the rest of the manufacturers apps. I don’t know why it’s not a priority for them given how much we use smartphones and you’d think they’d want to be the first with good app to try and entice more customers.
Fully agree to your point of view! The biggest problem is, and I guess Sony and all other camera suppliers are aware of, that once you bought a camera, you also bought a bunch of lenses and accessories. If you now want to switch, you loose a lot of money. The only possibility you have is to buy a newer/better body.I also ran into the vicious circle and now I pray for software updates on the A1
Great review! Sony does not have to wait to lose money by not providing firmware updates. They are, losing money already! I saved for an A1, and was ready to buy but chose an A7RV instead. Sony lost $2500 in my sale. I would have lived with the flip-up screen, and the oddly placed Rec button if they had come out with a firmware update that included some of the features of the A7RV when that camera was released, including focus bracketing, and focus breathing compensation, and improved AI tracking. In fact, those features on the A7RV are not implemented as well as they should be (focus breathing compensation is only available with video and should be included with focus bracketing, and focus bracketing should be continuous, not click, pause, click, pause, click, pause …, and there is no physical reason a 60 Megapixel sensor should support only 10 fps). I would expect these things to be improved through firmware updates, over time, except in the cases where there are hardware limitations. I suspect Sony does not have a well designed software stack, requiring a ton of work for each release, so I am not hopeful this behavior will change. Apple provides firmware updates for watches, iPhones, tablets, and PCs, Google does it on phones. In fact, almost all manufacturers provide feature updates on their product, including most other camera manufacturers. In my opinion, Canon has it’s closed lens ecosystem, and Sony has its firmware problem, leaving the door wide open for Nikon.
I agree with you Peter. In last decades I used Canon, Sony, Nikon and Lumix. 2 years ago I decided to move to Lumix system and I am ok with new products and updates. Especially now with new phase AF. About lenses I know L mount is kind of special niche but I am ok especially coz I love filming also with vintage and anamorphic glasses and in this case Lumix is super in my point if view.

So true. I have the A7SIII and I wish they got us the new features the FX3 has 😢 They marked it as the hyper mega video cam only to slap me in the face months later with the FX3🤬
Well Pete, even the Sony Alpha mark one has the record button on your thumb which is most convenient comparing to the Sony Alpha one I’m using the Sonia Alpha, seven Mach, one, and the ZV-E10
You should try Panasonic S1H. It blows all other camera off. Especially the flow in V-Log its the best one. Sadly no vlogger or youtuber is using it, or are using without telling people. Sony pays for promotion while Panasonic doesn’t need to. I have been religious follower of PL since he had like 20k subs. Loved n watched every video. Do try Panasonic S1H. Much love ❤
I am 100% Agree, that this Camera needs a Flip Screen like the A7IV or better the A7RV, this is a 100% KO for me in this Price Category. There Was some very good Deals in the Past like Brand new for 6000.- or used around 4500.-, but im using the first A9 and for me ist still incredible, i "only" wish a little bit more MP around 40 for cropping solutions. i bought the A7IV as Backup, but for casual things i will only use this Body. we will see what the future Models will offer. Thanks for your Videos, again and again. =)
I agree with some of what you're saying but some of it is just subjective. I own both the a7SIII and Alpha 1 and use them both for professional jobs and for hobby. I do wish Sony would provide more firmware updates but at the same time I understand they are trying to separate cameras like the FX3 and a7SIII ie Cine and a more traditional camera. But come on, focus breathing comp would not be a hard add to either camera. Beyond that though I'm not sure what you'd want them to even upgrade? The Alpha 1 has also had 2 or 3 firmware updates since it's release not just 1 like you stated. Recall we got 422 10 bit in 8k as well as 8k 24p for NTSC, the addition of S and M Raw sizes in photo, updates to the eye tracking af, etc etc. I love my a1 and would happily buy it again today. To call it outdated is quite a stretch given what it does and how well it does it. The quality of life features like the record button? Come on man, map the picture button like you do with the a7SIII it's intuitive to use that button for both pictures and video and it's easy to do. I think you meant to say the body is the same as the a7SIII and not the a7III because it's the same as the a7SIII which is perfectly fine though again, that's subjective. The screen not being as versatile I understand the argument but most people using this camera for what it was made for are standing directly behind the lens, not laying in the dirt shooting the ocean or pointing the camera at themselves vlogging. I know you know how insanely great this camera is and I definitely get your gripes about it but come on man, this camera is an absolute beast of a camera!
Wasn't all that in the recent update? Before that it was just bug fixes? Of course i'm gonna put some subjective thoughts in here. But imagine being able to get the choice of which menu you'd like to use, Photo oriented or Video oriented, some new video modes that the ZVE1 carries. I can map the buttons for sure, but after testing a BUNCH of cameras from sony, i don't see the logic behind the choice. It's not gonna be outdated in several years, the quality of the images are superb, same as the video (As i say in the video). But they could give it some warmth.
Oh and for the time being, there's not many options with dual stacked sensors which for me is huge not having any distortion in images and very very little rolling shutter in video!
I love my A1, but I'm not sure I would have bought it given Sony's poor support of their flagship camera. Based on the updates Sony has rolled out, I probably won't be buying any of Sony's hybrid cameras. I'll probably be looking only at their cinema cameras. Those seem to get updates.
I have the A7R5 instead of the A1, just because it is newer and cheaper. Only thing i miss in this camera is more FPS Like the A9 or A1. Might go for the A1ii Early next year.
Glad you did this video. I want a great hybrid camera and have been looking at the A1 for a while but the exact things you’ve mentioned have been what’s holding me back. I’m at the point now of either waiting for Sony to get their stuff together or going back to Canon.
A Sony A1 firmware update is rumoured as well as an A1-2 (source: Andrea Pizzini, Sony Alpha Rumors). What do you think of those Peter? I am still learning to fully exploit my FX3 and 7R4, but I would love to record 8k with wide lens for cropping to 4k at selected video parts.
I'm on A7SIII I love it to bits but... Sony's attitude pisses me off. Had a blast with R5 last summer on holidays. Hotel neighbors had 28-70 and 85. Dudd... I'm definitely gonna go Canon next time around. Damn overheating threw me away from R5 when I was getting my camera. Now with the software update, it's no longer an issue. I wish Sony would embrace that approach...
I agree that that can be extremely frustrating for lowering the cameras to have a more premium set of features. I’m with canon a little frustrated with the fact that the R6 version one didn’t get a little bit more love with updates, but I guess they were also in a hurry push out, the MarkII version. each company has its quirks and honestly I would be really happy if manufactures came out with better apps.
Firmware and Software is something that Sony, Canon & Nikon needs to start working on ASAP. They're truly behind in that area when compared to smartphones.
Imagine if sony came out with a minor updated version of the a1 like what they did with the sony a7riii and a7riv and added the tilt flip screen of the a7rv, better screen resolution plus added newer features... maybe newer processors?
I think the worst thing that they have done to the A1 is to release the A7RV in my opinion there is no reason to buy this piece of expensive gear unless you shoot sports.. but there are better options aswell..
Just got rid and of my A1 today, actually. It was a phenomenal camera and the features were fantastic but MAN the resale value died a horrible death immediately and there’s also an issue with the Wi-Fi card that seems to curiously crap out right after the 1 year warranty. $1,600 repair on a 6,500 dollar camera that already dropped to 3,500 on the user market. Couple that with a COMPLETE lack of support after release, and a number of features that would be entirely possible with a firmware update (8K raw via Ninja V+) it just leaves one heck of a nasty taste in your mouth. Pretty seriously pissed at Sony after this purchase.
i would not buy it for full retail.. I remmeber a while back b&h had a deal where you can get this for 40% off or something like that. Maybe something around there.
sony has never been good with software updates, it honestly baffles me that the FX3 got so many, but honestly when you bought that camera it was working well and now it still does the same things
So I started off as a Fuji shooter and then switched to Sony and I have to say that Fuji when it comes to firmware is in a class of its own -Sony just chunks out camera after camera after camera and leaves us in the dust…..
I'm an A7S3 and A74 owner. I love Sony. I drink the Kool-aid. However... I really do wish we could get some firmware updates/ additional features added to the A7S3. It's extremely frustrating that a company like Sony, with all the great things they have done in this space, is sitting on their hands like this. Strange business model. Someone is going to start stealing market share.
Agreed, they could've made the SIII feel fresh for another 3 years (Not that it is bad in any way). But stuff that they put in the FX3 could easily be implemented to the SIII. They should take a look at Apple/Google/Ubiquiti and how they keep updating their products firmware.
Been looking to upgrade and switch to sony in the process. I still use the canin m50 mark1 I got just before the pandemic 😅 the video was very helpful. Thanks Peter🫡
Personally i think for casual RUclipsrs who don't use their camera for anything other than filming talking head and B roll the Sony ZVE10 is the best all round that can film 4k 30fps and its budget friendly..... If you want to step up a level and your also photographer you can't go wrong with the Sony A7IV... no recording limits, awesome video up to 4K 60fps and a 33mp lens for high end photography. That's the camera I use plus it's cheaper than the A1 and FX3. But its all personal preference
@@PeterLindgren1 the ZVE1 is amazing there's no doubt but I think Sony's issue is that they've created too many cameras which are too similar. I know it has a crop but you can get the ZVE10 + lens + XLR Handle for the same price as a ZVE1 or A7IV and if you did want to go that extra step I'd pick the A7IV over the ZVE1 due to the extra pixels since they are similar in price. I love Sony Cameras I think they are a cut above the competition
Totally agree with you Peter. It is insulting how Sony treats its high end customers. As soon as the Canon R1 is released I am switching over and dumping all my Sony gear. Gone are the days when Sony was leading Canon and Nikon in mirrorless cameras. Sony is getting complacent and will soon taste the lesson that Canon and Nikon learned.
Have an older a7iii and there are things i love about it and things i hate. My biggest hate is sony support! Second is still the lens cost. Comparing aftermarket (or even name brand) everyone wants their $$ when you mention sony. Knowing that know there are days i wish i went nikon.
Interesting video. Question: do the A1 have Dual Native iSO? That is a big reason for me using the A7S III. That plus 4K 100 pfs, Auto-focus (which I am not too impressed by. Works great for humans, but not for objects) and I don't know about the colors. I prefer Panasonic colors from the GH5, but that is just my personal taste. Curious to know how you feel about the colors in A7S III Peter. I also use it professionally for photos. No one has ever complained, but I can see for myself as soon as I crop in, just a tiny bit, that it falls apart. As I do photos as a hobby too, I would love a higher count of Megapixels, just for myself, so I can have nice pictures for my wall, etc. Sony need to step up their Firmware updates. I am still waiting for it lol. Probably never gonna happen.
As far as i know, it does not unfortunately. That's why i went to the ZVE1 (Suits my run n gun shooting style). I love the colors of S-Log 3, really gives you some flexibility. Taking photos with the SIII was rough, it ment you HAD to get the right shot when taking it, sometimes i din't have the right lens etc. Was a huge downside when taking thumbnails etc.
I guess they will never make "The perfect Camera" even tho it is subjective, it ca nalways get better, or we find something to complain about. I wonder what the thoughts and minds of the person designing a bad screen that only flip upside for example. It makes total sense to them, but to the rest of us, it is just annoying to see the designs@@PeterLindgren1
@@PeterLindgren1 Some would consider that an advantage. Like the Venice had a dual Iso of 800 and 2500. 12800 is a special use case. The Burano like 800 and 3200 and the Fx9 is 800 and 4000. The a1 is in those higher sensor ranges and there have been test that you can push it to 12800 however it wont be as clean as the a7siii but it can hang with that camera.
Well, first of all, Sony has such a wide range of cameras that all it comes down to is your needs. Whatever you need to do, there's a camera for it in the Sony range. And there will be a huge variety of opinions among Sony shooters, which camera is the best, depending on what they need to do. Second thing: I completely agree with you that Sony's policy of firmware update is bad for us customers, Nikon and Fuji do it definitely better, maybe Canon also. But like I said, there will be a variety of opinions among Sony shooter, whether they do stills or videos. If I had the money, I would take A1 any time because for my style of work, the A1 and the A7R V are probably the only cameras that are better than my A7 IV. And in some regards my A7 IV is very close to ideal. In fact, the only thing I really have against it is something you would consider an advantage (and in some cases it really is): the flip out screen. In photography (and now I mean client work, not Instagram work, where you ideally shoot vertically) you need the tilt screen, it's very useful for event and wedding photography and if you have two camera bodies on you, the flip out is kind of uncomfortable and you shoot horizontally most of the time anyway. So yes, perhaps the A7R V would be even more ideal for me, but the A1 has a stacked sensor which comes in handy sometimes. I mean, when you need to be quiet, then you really appreciate it. And the tilt screen? I take it any time over flip out. But that comes in handy sometimes too.
Firstly at the price point the A1 should have a priority support program for firmware, the price is substantially higher than the competition and it gets the least support. Secondly, Sony should maximize the hardware as much as possible and then only then do they need to make a new model. Also any potential new customers who want to buy into the Sony ecosystem is going to see lesser Sony gear with more advanced features than the a1 as well as see the lack of firmware support and then rather go to the competition. It’s really disappointing Sony
Totally agree. I use Sony cameras but my next camera probably wont be a Sony due to Sonys politics. The A1 still is the most expensive hybrid camera on the market (between the usual brands) and even though its a great camera it feels like Sony doesn't care to keep the camera great and therefore doesn't care to keep its costumers.
The number 1 reason I am considering switching to Canon after being a Sony user for over 10 years is lack of firmware updates. Canon’s flagship R5 is still competitive today because of this. And it is a $4000 camera. If Canon’s chip technology allows them to leapfrog Sony’s sensor technology, it’s game over.
The interview never said a new firmware is coming. It just said we got the message. It just means maybe on next cameras things will be different. Maybe It just means we will stop introducing new features on our entry level cameras without giving them to the higher end cameras first
I never bought it.Bought a FX6 instead with a A7-4.Covers all my bases. For new buyers I would say buy two A7-4’s instead of an A1.Unless you shoot fast sports fotos.Just my view.
It's ridiculous. Just contacted Sony again today about the lack of firmware. It feels almost like a cruel game at this point. It's like Ford sending updates to the Fiesta while completely ignoring the Mustang and not caring one bit about it. How is that going to win a loyal customer base? This is what a second rate camera company would do.
it's like expecting to get the new version of a software suite for free, you want constant updates to lightroom, you pay for the subscription service. Outside of security/stability updates, I see no reason for Sony to feel obligated to add features to existing cameras.
Alpha 1 sounds so much cooler than A 1, still everybody calls it A, no idea why 🙃 But on the topic: it is strange that the question even can exist in 2023 that a camera with with 30fps at 50megaipxel raw is questioned to be outdated already. Strange world 🤐
Why would you want to have all the AI features in Updates if the Processor can't handle it. Sure you can still buy the A1 as a new Camera but its still the same old hardware from 2020 when it was developed. That was 3 Years ago. A lot has changed in the Processor world since then, so obviously new cameras will have new features. You woldn't ask for your car to get a self parking feature just because another model that is 2 generations newer has it.
So you don’t think smartphones should be updated either 🤷🏻? I’m also just requesting different menu options, focus breathing compensation, heatmap etc, all the things the FX3 got (which is also a 3 year old camera) but this didn’t 🫠
@@PeterLindgren1 Different line of cameras? I dont think the Fx3 is considered an Alpha camera? Would you be mad that the newer sony cameras dont have built in ND's like the Fx6. fx9, Venice or Burano? I however would love to get those s I am an a1 user and a a7siii user and I own a a7rv which those new menus are super dope and fx6. True, totally with you on this. I hate when brands does this for marketing and sales.. I am now with Lumix S5ii and I do NOT regret it.
I bought an a7s iii last year because of your videos and I love it.
Freaking amazing camera!
Yea me too
Quite interestingly, Canon has updated my R5 with crazy new features like improved resolution (400 Megapixel), limitless video recordning without heating issues and much more. It's a surprising move, as many of us probably won't feel the need to upgrade to a new model for a very long time.
That's actually wicked!
I can only imagine the frustration of one persone thath buy a A....great video man!!!
you can make shutter button to act as record while in video mode. like in any sony camera. cheers.
I know
I completely agree Peter.
Peter for the same price why not getting the Fx3 for video and one from the R series for Stills?
Good sensor :D it is the best sensor, they are using it in the Venice.
the lack of firmware on the A1 is wild. Like how dont we have focus breathing compensation, how!?
Canon added stuff with firmware updates and in my opinion made me a happier customer. So much that I bought another camera same model, R5.
Not only is Sony not putting out updates, they’re not even budging on retail pricing for the A1.
I’m on the fence waiting for the R1 and R5 II to come and sell my last Sony product because I have faith and experience that Canon will in fact look out for me down the road and not just in the front end.
With regards to your lack of flippy screen… What about using the Sony app on your phone to line up your shots? You shouldn’t have to do that, but it might be at work around.
Obviously you’ve never used the Sony app. It’s awful.
I love my Sony system but it doesn‘t get into my head that my A7III has touch focus but didn‘t get the new touch menu when the newer bodies came out.
You are right Peter! I hope Sony will take into consideration the firmware update request, which is not only your.
Well Pete, even the Sony Alpha mark one has the record button on your thumb which is most convenient comparing to the Sony Alpha one
I’m using the Sonia Alpha, seven Mach, one, and the ZV-E10
After all the cameras I’ve tried, not once have I felt that this placement of the record button is good 😅
You should try Panasonic S1H.
Moved from Sony to blackmagic 2 years ago, it was a no brainer. And i paid 1500 + cheap ef lenses and so on...
Got two a7r Vs and happy with them.
You can set C1 as a record button in the menu try it!
I know, as I say in the video, my buttons are already mapped since 3 years back. Hard to get rid of the muscle memory 👍🏼
@@PeterLindgren1 Love your videos keep it up!
I meant LOWER END cameras…
Voice to text along with a crazy 3 year old running around so I didn’t double check what it said.
Imagine if sony came out with a minor updated version of the a1 like what they did with the sony a7riii and a7riv and added the tilt flip screen of the a7rv, better screen resolution plus added newer features... maybe newer processors?
Appalled at the lack of updates for A7siii
I think the worst thing that they have done to the A1 is to release the A7RV in my opinion there is no reason to buy this piece of expensive gear unless you shoot sports.. but there are better options aswell..
Sony definitely needs to start innovating some stuff again!
Sending love from the UK 🇬🇧
i also got the A1 and yes the flip out screen is the thing i hate the most
It was truly a bad move by sony lol!
@PeterLindgren1 did you sell your Sony FX6?
Nope, but I don’t carry it with me on a daily basis
100% agree brother
Just got rid and of my A1 today, actually. It was a phenomenal camera and the features were fantastic but MAN the resale value died a horrible death immediately and there’s also an issue with the Wi-Fi card that seems to curiously crap out right after the 1 year warranty. $1,600 repair on a 6,500 dollar camera that already dropped to 3,500 on the user market. Couple that with a COMPLETE lack of support after release, and a number of features that would be entirely possible with a firmware update (8K raw via Ninja V+) it just leaves one heck of a nasty taste in your mouth.
Pretty seriously pissed at Sony after this purchase.
....Next month is gonna be funny
I have the a7r3 and the ZVE1.. waiting for the a7S4 next year, and Sony doesn’t update any of their cameras not just the high end ones..
I honestly doubt there will even be an SIV 🤷🏻
They really should have reserved the a1 release to be the first camera with a dedicated A1 chip, as well as the multi axis screen instead of the A7RV.
i would not buy it for full retail.. I remmeber a while back b&h had a deal where you can get this for 40% off or something like that. Maybe something around there.
sony has never been good with software updates, it honestly baffles me that the FX3 got so many, but honestly when you bought that camera it was working well and now it still does the same things
Never said it didn’t work well!
I own the A9 since 2018 and I will probably buy the new A9III if it has the A7RV Screen and better AI .
A1 Firmware strategy is a very Bad 😢
The ZVE1 is brutal though. Same sensor as the SIII/FX3, with the same capabilities. The downside again though is the MPX on that sucker haha.
Why this and not the A7R V?
The RV didn’t exist when I got it.
@@PeterLindgren1 ... it does 800 and 4000
Yeah but not the same 12800 as the SIII
By the way, if you shoot a REAL lot of photos (like in wedding and event photography), the high resolution becomes a burden.
Don't lie Pete, we know you're already using the A1 mk2 right now and the embargo is gonna lift soon 👀
Any plans to try out the sony burano? haha
Hahaha nah man, that's an ENTIRELY different game than what i'm playing lol!
Imagine a society thinking a modern camera being outdated. Besides those who may need advanced technical specifics,
I would love to have that camera, but I dont know if I would buy it $7000!! Then I would go for the zv-e1, Siii/FX3 or even fx6 instead 😅
Such a good camera! Would love to see it get some software love though haha!
just something i have noticed, is that when u add music, I get tired of watching your video much faster
Good to know! Will keep that in mind for future vids 💪🏼
I would never buy the A1 because of the features it lacks. I decided to go with the A7RV instead. And plus I don't have $6500 to spend on the camera
Sony rumours: a1 major update coming soon.😊
The interview never said a new firmware is coming. It just said we got the message. It just means maybe on next cameras things will be different. Maybe It just means we will stop introducing new features on our entry level cameras without giving them to the higher end cameras first
You need a Red Komodo-x and a A7R5 !
A7R5 is something I’ve been eyeballing!
Would be interesting to see a Sony nerd testing another brand like the Nikon Z8. I think it’s a little to much focus on Sony among the RUclipsrs
If They’d send me one I’d be happy to test it
I never bought it.Bought a FX6 instead with a A7-4.Covers all my bases.
If they never sent firmware updates you'd have a point, but they do so you don't. @@taylorhickman84
the question is, DO they need firmware updates?
That guy could have been a client. He wanted a video of his car.
I talked with her more than what I included in the video, wasn’t going to pay well 🫡
This is exactly why I'm leaving Sony. To me, it's a lack of respect for those who invest their money in their passions or their work tools.
Leave
Sadly, "Reward shareholders" outweights everything
Sony really dissapoints with the lack of firmware updates for their high end cameras.
Get Nikon Z9 Peter they but god level firmware updates to it and it is built like tank like you
LUMIX all the way 👍
I will rock my A7S 3 until it falls apart in my cold ...dead... hands.
Alpha 1 sounds so much cooler than A 1, still everybody calls it A, no idea why 🙃
But on the topic: it is strange that the question even can exist in 2023 that a camera with with 30fps at 50megaipxel raw is questioned to be outdated already. Strange world 🤐
P switch to the dark side and get a R5C 😅
The screen is a bummer. Now it seems the are going to ruin a9iii with the same thing.
Glad to see I am not the only one very disappointed, Sony you better change this and start updating your cameras, you have the community well upset
And trust me I understand that the fx3 is just a repackaged a7siii but they drew a line in the sand as soon as it started getting those insane firmware updates. I however would love to get those s I am an a1 user and a a7siii user and I own a a7rv which those new menus are super dope and fx6. So my thing is they are rumored to come out with a Major A1 firmware update by the end of the year so how about we wait and see if Sony does decide to throw all of the features we should have in it form the alpha line cameras and maybe a huge feature that a newer camera they announced has because they pretty much share the same 8k sensor... I don't want to jinx it though.
Wow
I don't think the sony Engineers know how to co-operate, maybe a visit to Lumix camp....;)
maybe its because its a photo camera? for 7000 usd you should get a komodo no?
No, i have an FX6 and like that =). This is a photo camera, but still needs an update on the Photo side too.
The a1 should get a firware
Sony A7iii and after cameras will never be updated. No more GAS
