Awesome video Peter! I appreciate all you do - this video hit home right in the beginning. My last 2 months of video posts have done horrible in terms of views. This was super frustrating since the few months before that, videos views were doing great! I feel the same way you mentioned, just keep pushing though and keep making the videos. Don't give up. Sometimes videos do great and other times they don't. I find some of the videos I make quickly do better than the ones I plan out. Crazy stuff! 😜 I appreciate you man!
Great video. I think what also help with your intros is that you speak with confidence and authority. I creates the feeling that you should listen to this guy, he knows what he is talking about.
I think that most creators should remember that this is not the overnight thing. It needs commitment, hard work and a lot of self development. And the harsh truth is also - just like in most things on this planet - not everybody can be successful. I know that well cause I'm in the music business for over 15 years and saw a lot of ppl come and go thinking that it is just an easy work, cause now you can record whole album in your home in 2 days. Back in the day of golden era of radio and tv you either had extreme luck, know lot of ppl or just got extraordinary talent that will bring ppl to enjoy of what you represent. As today we all can do what we want, fast and cheap, post it everywhere etc. most of us thinks that this is something you are granted for. It's not. Rule did not changed - you need to have something special in your content/yourself to win. Only the way you expose yourself is easier nowadays and luck is not a longterm success. Plus some says that motivation and dedication always wins with lazy talent. I can agree with that :) Great video (love the reaction to myself format!) and keep up great work!
wise words mate it takes commitment to your creative choices and time to learn and evolve into the creative you choose to be , im 150+ vids into it and just did my best film , very proud of it but the likes and views cant reflect that feeling . and thats the point make what your proud of and see how it goes . love your work mate keep inspiring us cheers
Peter, I love the way you can analyse your own videos in such an unbiased way. What about roasting your less popular videos? That'd be fun too. Thanks for everything you do. You deserve your 600K subs 💃
This is exactly the missing sauce I needed!!!! I've just went and and deleted the 3 videos I lined up for December and scrapping any posts for this month.. Totally redoing those from scratch but with this story hook included into those tutorials ! Thanks!
Great video man. I've had a channel before with over 1000 videos, but after some time i've decided to start out new and deleted it. Now i'm more focused on quality over quantity, trying to find my vibe and style, and still learning new things as i go. So i think I'm ready for 2024
599k - sooooooo close to hitting 600k - will it happen before the new year? Yeahyeah, it’s just a number, but still, would feel great though ;) and well deserved, thanks for all the great content over the years :)
Great Job Peteer..!! What I observed from the video's is that they had searchable content. People who were looking to buy gear or just wanting information about a product or about RUclips in General... and I can almost bet that a greater number of views came from people not even subscribed... As much as the hook and overall quality of the video matters... it has to give value first. it must satisfy someone's search for particular information... Once they trust and like you... then you can follow up with Vlogs... Ultimately we will start hitting the like button before we watch the video....😄😄😄
Thanks for making this Peter, I am inspired by your content. You commented on one of mine before and I was honored. I’ve only make 90videos, but I hope to get to your level one day.
This is a very cool video idea. I liked it a lot and I need to do this for myself because I want to make sure I keep getting better…. consistency is very much key. Trying so hard right now! I’m pretty much working 9 to 5 and running my RUclips channel and my friends business, RUclips channel. lol now I’m like wow I really had no excuses when I was just running my own…..The b-roll openers help engagement a lot
Great video, Peter. I've noticed that for technical creators like us (who make tutorials, reviews, etc.) success of a video has a *lot* to do with the topic. Some of my simple screen record videos have over 66k views, but a video for which I travelled two days has 600😂. It's still fun, though!
I found your channel very early on, it was the "how to make cinematic videos with your phone" video, and I've been hanging out for a good time with you ever since. P.S. I just got the ZV-E1 (cos has the sensor of my dream cam at an affordable price) and it's so good I could cry. Seeing you switching to it from the a7SIII was the last confirmation I needed to pull the trigger :)
I love this analysis, and I remember all of these videos! I think the intro is the hook, regardless of how long it is. Another takeaway… your turnaround time from idea to posting is otherworldly! I'm still such a slow editor. I’m counting on building a faster workflow after many more reps. All in due time. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oooooh, just thought of something, this was a great video looking at what works, we need a follow up with the 5 *worst* performing videos of 2023, learning from both successes and failures, that would be dope :)
Your video confirms that small (like mine) and big (like yours) channels struggles for the attention. The 30s hook and search trends (CTR) is the most important IMO at this moment. Also I realized that getting into shorts affects badly for long videos you make (my case). When I stopped posting shorts the stats magically got well. Subscribers and revenue in shorts are crap. TBH waste of time. I know this is subjective opinion. Just saying...
Awesome video!!! We are just struggling with these questions. Some videos get 2000 views and most of the videos have around 5-10 000 views but... now recently we got one video with 360 000 views!?!?!?!? We increased the subscribers from less than 13 000 and today, 3 weeks later, we will pass 19 000 Subscribers! We have to say Thanks Peter!!! Your journey with the b-roll video has inspired us a lot. Now we can see that after hard work ... it's possible. Just continue to make videos. In our next video... a review... we will try your idea about the intro with voice-over and old clips. / Matti in Jokkmokk

As a creator and aspiring youtuber, I love these kind of videos, gives us a great prespective & ideas seeing you review what you see is working💪🏻
Great video. I think what also help with your intros is that you speak with confidence and authority. I creates the feeling that you should listen to this guy, he knows what he is talking about.
This is pure gold. As all the things it takes time to define a style and be better at what we do. Thank you for this!
I love this video mate

Informative video
I love the self reflection, taking us through what you think worked best. I’m always thinking that way too, well done!
I enjoyed this video and your analysis of your 2023 best performing content. I was hooked.

Really cool to see you making a review of the past videos and checking patterns! Thanks for sharing Peter 😄

Extremely helpful, Peter! Probably a bit more for a niche audience of yours but I am in that bag so thank you very much!

Think your pops play significant roll in your videos with the daily wisdom :)))

Man, this video is great! Really helpful, planning my next video right now.
This is very cool. Good to hear about some of your process. I do like seeing the epic intros too, very engaging 👍

Gonna do that for sure 👊🏼
when you are talking to camera at the desk how do you that back and forward view of you, two cameras that you do jump cuts in edit ?
Good info... the hook is an important part of a video.
I would like to see a similar analysis of your vlog channel.
