Nathan, I've written three books using Dixie #10 and Noodler's ink. My third book is dedicated to you, even though I'm not a famous writer and less than 100 people have read them. One of the characters is also named after you. I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you have done by bringing joy to those of us who love to write. Merry Christmas and have a joyous new year.
Wow...I am humbled and honored...and printed out your comment to post it on the wall. If you need any promotion...I'm on the "outs" with the google algorithm for obvious reasons...but a mention in a video might help.
Ronspotz Hi , you’ve wrote three books, well done sir 👍 Have you considered self publishing ? I realize there’s a lot of ill feeling about big tech that may influence your feelings but you could use them / it to get your books out. I feel you’ve written just for the pleasure of using your pens inks paper which a lot of folks do, but have a think about it… and if it takes off, great, if not well, you’ve given it a shot. Please do, and let folks know here as we could read of our intrepid maestros character… it would be f u n 🤔 😃 🧐 😁 💙
Pulls out a fresh bottle of HoD and gets my attention. It’s really the best black ink! I’m halfway through one 4.5oz bottle after three years of use. I could add some distilled water and make this bottle last another 6 years, taking me to almost a decade of use from one bottle. Bravo Nathan! 👏🏾
Thank you, Nathan, for your time and talent put into your inks and pens. I have bought Noodler's inks and pens so that you may continue your work, but also to remind me of the value of our liberty, which is being challenged during these times.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I would love any tips you can give me
@Bowen Rylan thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I bought myself two Ahab's and 3 noodler's inks (Apache sunset, blue nose bear, Cardinal kestrel) for Christmas and am very pleased to have them. Thank you for your work, you put a lot of soul into these items and I'll be sure to buy more of noodler's pens available in due time and much more inks. When my nephews and neices grow a bit more they'll be getting Ahab's as well to aid them in learning and creativity. Merry Christmas to you!
Actually wanting to get my son an ink. I’ve seen a washable (thinking let’s avoid staining clothes) ink online. Does Noodlers have any washable ink? I get it’s the opposite of the theme of intellectual immortality and eternal freedom of speech, but would be cool for learning to write : )
Thank you Nathan. I'm going through a similar issue as a writer with an unsavory individual. Though I am a descendant of veterans of Brandywine, our freedom of speech is under attack. Your words and your products are very near and dear to my heart for being a spokesman for our shared inheritance of Liberty.
If you look at how the google search algorithm has treated this video and many others that have a similar viewpoint, it quickly becomes apparent that not everyone is a friend of liberty. I find it helps to always support (at least in spirit and always that they have the right to speak their mind) those with different opinions contrary to the majority view...that is easily done while living in Massachusetts. I know many people fear for their livelihoods right now as exercising freedom and liberty as defined in the Bill of Rights will get them fired by the troglodytes in the HR department. A few have fired me (probably the "dislikes" on this video, for example....but it is my hope that exercising freedom of speech in advocacy of that freedom for all....won't get me completely fired. I'm both janitor and CEO at Noodler's Ink Co., but the HR department was aborted before it was conceived.
@@InkNeedLastForever -- Amen! Oh, and I had to chuckle at your final sentence. Please stay strong. I don't think I need to say that to you, but everyone needs encouragement once in a while and the year 2020 has done horrible things to small businesses and individuals! Here's to a better 2021; hope we can manage it. William Semo - the same to you as well. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous 2021.
I grew up an Army brat, served as combat medic in the Army before joining the USMC. ARMY GREEN ink holds a place in my heart. Thank you. I would love more military themed inks based on the respects uniforms / insigniae. Marine Corps: Red to honor the Blood Shed. USMCTrue Honor Blue Perhaps even "Spit Shined Boots - Black".
Tyranny and mob rule is here. Keep Liberty and the Faith alive. I appreciate your message. Stay the true course true north. 1+1 does not equal 3. God bless.
Thank you for this video and as always Nathan you have produced excellent, heart-felt and timely content! Your pens and inks are always within reach of me and I only wish I wrote and doodled as much as I talk! Merry Chistmas, please stay healthy and safe and have a Happy New Year!
It might be the fluid of democracy and freedom to a greater than expected extent for the new century as the digital medium becomes ever more censored and oppressed/regulated. It is far more difficult for an algorithm to edit or remove a word choice from a hand written note passed on to a friend than the near instantaneous editing some of us have recently encountered in the online world.
Many people find numerous terms to be highly impolite...and uncomfortable to even contemplate saying. However, there is never a need to regulate everyone into silence for every term that is impolite and offensive. In an ideal world, perhaps...we would all be polite to each other and have good manners - but a world with free speech must enable exactly that: freedom of speech.
Freedom of speech, the fundamental right of developed civilization. Necessary for determining right from wrong. Petersons courage at the time was incredible and should inspire us all to take the pen and share the truth.
Freedom of speech? Absolutely necessary! Thank you for all of that as well as for your pens and ink, Nathan! Stay strong and resolute. May our good Lord bless you, especially this time of the year. Merry CHRISTmas and a far better 2021.
I'm pleased that the google algorithm did not edit or remove your post. There is an ink label for "Liberty's Elysium" that was edited/obscured on a college website discussion group once simply because of the quote from Mary Dyer. Her death is a huge reason for the first amendment to the Bill of Rights....and she freely spoke her mind to the point of driving the government of the commonwealth to pure rage. May her sacrifice never be in vain.
@@InkNeedLastForever Nathan, thank you! One of the many reasons I like your inks is because each one tells a little history; I will look her up; we need her today! My history teachers, back in the 50's and 60's, taught the memorization of names, dates and places - period. If they had taught the "why" as well, I'd have probably paid far more attention. I'm old enough now that I'm beginning to wish I had paid attention and your inks are one avenue. I suspect our politics are nearly aligned. Now, if we could somehow return to a "free press / media," I'd be pleased. Let's see what Google does to _this_ comment! Besides, Liberty's Elysium is one of the very first inks I bought - at Brian Goulet's recommendation. It's a beautiful shade of blue and well behaved.
PS. Thank you for being a voice of freedom. I also want to thank you for your inks, I am a poet and I write at allpoetry on the net under this pen name. I have been on an intense hunt for water resistant inks, and many of yours, most of your inks, are water resistant. My words may never mean anything to anyone in the future, or they might not even get there, but because of you, and others on the net, they have a good chance of doing so. Thank you. My current favorite is Lexington Grey, though I love your reds and purples too, and some of your blues, I am not a fan of normal pen blue, i don't know why, maybe because it is so jarring to the eyes. My favoite color of ink, is Diamine Autumn Oak, the tinge of brown haloing a redish orange, is just autumn for me. But it is nearly the least water resistant of all inks. Your Habenaro comes close to autumn oak's color, and I have a sample here. It is faintly water resistant, much better than diamine inks in that regard. I hope you don't ever give up making inks, or inspirational speeches. They all matter more than we ever think they do. Who knows, maybe even God needs a patriotic speech once in a while. What a terrible job, knowing how to do something to help others, but knowing when not to do it as well. You know, God never wanted slaves, from us or angels. He wanted copies of his love and wisdom out there among the stars, and we and the angels are part of that. Its an amazing future, when we get there. It is a strange hope, and maybe a little grandiose, but then, many things about God are grand. Just because little minded people are caught up in selfishness taken too far, and others soft-hearted lead astray, does not mean that we have to ignore what God wanted for us as if we did not deserve it. He does not ask us to be perfect in every deed, just as perfect in love as we can be. I have some brutal enemies, and I have defended myself from them with counter attacks of all that I have and its just words. I have to decide whether it is worth it anymore to attack or if I should just teach, and show what little love I have left. (I pissed off the occult, they started it). But anyway, I know what I have chosen, honestly, I just don't want to do it. It hurts too much. But I am tired of not being me, the loving me, naive me, silly me that I was before all this started. (I'm a targeted individual, that comes with all the crazy crap and baggage that the term now holds). Wish me luck, fellow human, fellow patriot, fellow penman. And I truly do wish you lots of luck too.
Yes your inks are great, but it’s your philosophy that keeps me coming back. I agree with everything you say. And will continue buying your inks. In fact a Christmas present to myself was 3 bottles on Noodler’s ink. Keep making the ink, and keep espousing your, and my, philosophy.
I really liked the improvements in the rollerball. I will certainly have to purchase some; since it is my choice for "non fountain pen" situations. Thanks for the video, and greetings, from Brazil.
I’m a former Muslim who now follows Christ. I really appreciate your message and I just purchased the Heart of Darkness with the Charlie pen. The pen truly is mightier than the sword. May we shine the light of Christ into the heart of darkness. May you continue doing what you do - your passion shows.
I approve! I received this version of the Safety two days ago and I have not been able to put it down yet. I think I almost have the nib and feed working perfectly for me but I better pull it out and adjust it a couple 100 more times just to make sure. Thanks Nathan!
Heart of Darkness is one of my favorite inks. I always ink up the Free Charlie Pen with the ink a d use it until it is empty. Just to use to and to show y thanks for them. I use other pens but when I reach for that Free Charlie Pen, a sense of gratitude that I won’t be hurt for what I wrote or draw with that pen and ink. It is a true Liberty and Freedom moment for me. Thank you for doing what you do.
Every time I order an ink from you an adventure begins. The properties like dry time or shading and of cause unique features like the anti freeze lead to special use case for every single of them. I love the unique colors in my notes. There are a lot to explore and to find the perfect fit in every day use for every of the 13 different inks of you I own. Also the water resistance is superb, there are no other such uncomplicated water resistance fountain pen inks on the market. I really enjoy that the times were other where a water bottle in the backpack is leaking and all notes are lost. Also the pens are great (I like the Konrad most ^^)... I think there is no more to say except: Thanks for your work! I really enjoy it and have a lot of fun with tinkering and use your pens and explore the facets and behaviors of your inks and the stories behind them. Greetings from central Europe.
I feel like I need to dedicate my first book to you. I'm proud to say I just bought my first bottle of Heart of Darkness today and I plan on using it to write my first book.
When I did the math, I found that it’s somewhere near 52 Charlies of ink in a 4.5oz bottle. One for every week of the year 😆 This is my first time of hearing of Samual Paty 😢 I’m excited to have found your channel. About 6 years ago, armed with a Project Gutenberg .pdf of The Palmer’s Method and my first bottle of Heart of Darkness, I relearned cursive. I’ve since devolved a comfortable running script and enjoy writing in a way that I would never have thought possible. I find the fountain pen 🖋️ to be an instrument of a flow state that allows me to organize and compose my thoughts in an way wholly unique from modern touch-typing, thumb-hunting, screen-swiping, or voice-dictation. I now understand why the WWII vets I grew up around in FL were so adamant that cursive be taught in elementary schools. Feeling the tempo of each stroke in every letter of every word, lends to a mind body relationship with language that I think has been overlooked and undervalued for half a century or more.
Just got my Boston Safety Pen with the new metal rod yesterday, the added weight sure makes it more comfortable. Today I also got a Neponset Ebonite for Christmas along with a bottle of Baystate Blue. Your pens and inks really are amazing, both relative to price and in absolute terms. Thank you very much for all that you do and merry Christmas Nathan!
Maestro... I've already asked Pure Pens UK if they will be getting the steel Boston and the rollerball pens in... I watched this video several times for the pens and your comments which are very true... Having experienced the police in 2013 and this year for my libertine thoughts and actions George Orwell vision has become true. On first reading his book in the 70s I thought interesting but it won't happen, wrong, it has been very much demonstrated in the US and a little less here in the UK this year. I now write my journals with Heart of Darkness because it's the blackest black ever and my writing will be all that's left soon should certain people have their way.,, so by using Noodlers ink at least the writing will be there for a long while.. Unless they light the fire with them. Keep doing what you do Nathan, keep saying what you say.,we love you for it. Liberty will always be worth the fight...any fight. Mind how you go everyone. 💜
While I may not agree with you on all fronts. I enjoy your ink and pens. I appreciate the humor and thought you put into your work. I will always buy a noodler's ink first because American made, individual owned is my top priority on who I support with my cash. Thanks for all you do.
Mr. Tardif, thank you for these videos. I find myself coming back to listen to your stories and history quite often. It makes the writing experience so much more enjoyable. Thank you for the stand you take. I appreciate it very much and my household has become Noodler's exclusive. My children love your pen and inks. I do have a question concerning my favorite ink of yours, Zhivago. What is the history behind it? Thank you for your time.
There are four inks that upset a history professor with whom I have occasional conversations: Rachmaninov in the Russian Eternal series, Queen Victoria's Mint, Mata Hari, and Zhivago. She finds it "sophomoric" that the artwork for Mata Hari and Queen Victoria is absolutely and positively incorrect regarding any known historical facts about the appearance of the two individuals. Rachmaninov was called that due to his music in the "Seven Year Itch" and the color of a dress in another similar film worn by the same actress. Lastly, the first time I viewed the David Lean film "Dr. Zhivago"...I was a small child watching an early color TV set on a cold wintery evening appropriate to the film - the color of the ink with which his poetry is written in the film seemed to be that color on that TV set....and the first Soviet ink I ever tried out had a black core with a green tint to the line. It was not Tsarist era ink, but it was Soviet Russian production....close enough! ;-)
Mr. Tardif, another question. I received a Red Rebellion Neponset for Christmas, what a gift! However, upon cleaning the pen when I was changing ink, the breather tube went down the sink. Will this change the performance of the pen? IS the breather tube for the filling mechanism necessary? Thanks for your time!
Jordan often says in no uncertain terms that speaking freely is one of the most effective ways to iron out which opinions are viable and which are too weak to hold water, and I'm sure we'll find that he changes his tune on a number of things as he continues to talk with more and more clever people, and as he continues to field input from which to draw understanding. Much like the rest of us, I'd hope. I once said, and I think it's one of my few truly insightful pithy statements, that nobody is immune to stupidity. Also, unrelated: love your inks, love your pens. I have no idea how the Ahab nib writes, but I bought an Ahab and immediately frankenpenned it with a Zebra G nib; it's easily one of my favorite pens, right up there with two fude nib pens, for the variety of lines I can achieve with one instrument. Thank you for your dedication to quality products and for your accessibility to tinkerers.
Makes me all the happier to use your inks, knowing they're made by someone who values my liberty the same way I value theirs. I was wondering if you could have a crack at making a neon mint ink(between cyan and spring green, just to clarify) in the vein of your Rachmaninoff neon pink. I particularly enjoy Rachmaninoff's eye searing brightness, the complete lack of shading that makes it look the same whether it's in a fine or broad, as well as the high saturation for such a light ink. I guess you'd end up with a mint that leans a tad toward the cyan/blue end to give it that chemical, unnatural neon quality. Have a good 2021.
Thanks for all you do Nathan, your rapier wit, and your products. As for "algorithms", there are many of us working very hard to develop the skills to create workarounds in the tech industry. Too many monopolies that are simply tyrannies to a free commerce. Carry on. I don't always agree with everything every idiot says, but after spending 8 years overseas in a country where free speech is punished by heavy fines, imprisonment, and then deportation; I only argue harder for free speech rights. Thank you for this video.
China uses a social credit system. The US is heading down a path that many think they want; but, few will want it when it is fully implemented. I still want to get one of those safety pens. The last time I watched a video about the safety pen, it didn't have any stainless steel. So, if I were to buy a safety pen now, would it be like the one that you showed in this video?
They are all being produced that way currently, and have been for several months. You can confirm a steel core with any retailer - just ask them to gently unscrew the rear slider cap from the end cap of the barrel and expose the center rod. If they see shining stainless steel...and the pen feels heavier than normal - then it is the most recent model. The prior models sold out in most locations and are unlikely to still be out there...but just in case, there is no harm in asking the retailer.
I love what you are doing, Nathan! You're the genuine article. I'm glad you're around and with the fire in your belly you have. I cherish the unique pens and inks you produce and can't wait to see what comes next. What's the best way to keep tabs on your latest work?
I love my many Ahab pens and all my Noodler’s inks. How should I refill my Ahab pens after the 3 oz ink bottles and our 4.5oz bottles are below half-full. Thanks for your many wonderful products.
I have one of your chestnut brown Boston Safety pens. I'm assuming this surgical-grade stainless-steel rod was introduced to fix an issue. Is it compatible with your original Safety pens? Will it be made available as a part that can be ordered if mine ever needs to be fixed? Thanks.
We should have that part available within the next six months - just in case it is needed. I was worried that purists would prefer an "all ebonite/traditional construction" - and in time auction prices after I have passed on might reflect that...however, the steel is the same grade as the nib and passed every test thrown at it. Stainless steel rods in pens made towards the end of WW II have performed above 95% in my samples (5% or so - sheaffer plunger rods in particular - had minor cosmetic issues but still were functional after 75 years)...though if they make it as long as ebonite, well...we will see if we live that long.
@@Tyler-WoodyYou can thank UPS for those inflated Charlie pen prices. They "fell off a truck" and Noodler's received ZERO insurance compensation (we ship primarily with independent carriers now - with ZERO instances of the dreaded "fell off a truck" syndrome). Yes, they are truly gouging....yet you can still get it free - as always - with that big bottle of Noodler's Ink.
Nathan, I do a lot of art and have noticed that Bulletproof Black takes a lot of time to dry on the page. How long do you recommend waiting to ensure that erasing graphite won't smudge the ink?
The paper grade matters A LOT for this property. There are papers that enable the bulletproof black to penetrate the fibers just enough so that I can smash my fist upon the writing as if Bernanke Black...and it will not smear and can tolerate an eraser full bore over the recently made line. However, papers with polymer/wax/clay/oil content may hinder the ink from getting to the paper structure itself (such as when a line of bulletproof black just sits upon a plastic sheet and NEVER seems to dry?) - as well as an environment with extremely high humidity (90% to 100% humidity will promote feathering and/or slow dry times with almost all water based inks). So, if it is possible to try a more absorbent/less treated paper...or have less humidity in the drawing environment....OR...use a safety pen with india ink/committee of safety inks (it will dry on top of the treated fibers and will bond to itself, enabling water wash/eraser movement/etc...if used as an outline for other mediums). Hope this helps.
@@InkNeedLastForever Thank you, that helps a lot! It isn't that humid here, I'm in the Northeast USA, but maybe the paper has some treatment. I was using inkjet paper but might try copy paper. If that doesn't work I might try to get a Boston Safety Pen and try India ink.
I've had some issues with the piston threads of my Konrad Rollerball where when I try and twist it, it also undo the thread of the piston. Will teflon tape and rubber cement fix it? and will it stress the barrel too much? As always, I appreciate your recent video and other videos.. Happy Holidays!
The design requires that the threads of the piston unit must be of a higher torque into the barrel than that required to operate the piston mechanism. It can readily take a strong tightening with the help of a wide rubber band to enable a better grip. A small amount of rubber cement coating the threads will appear yellow in time, but if you don't mind the color of that - it will also help keep it firmly together. The rubber cement would be better than the teflon tape in this case - as the tape will force the threads to become wider if it is too generous in thickness....whereas the rubber cement will accommodate the threads as they already exist. Rubber cement combined with teflon tape - well...the cement will slip on the teflon...so it is better to use the rubber cement by its lonesome. Hope this helps. Happy holidays to you as well!
It kind of funny we thought freedom and liberalism of thought had won after 1989... but now intolerance has come home, and is on the march throughout the world, freedom has survived worse. Vigilance is the price.
Watched this while holding my black Konrad rollerball. Dang it, they're so much better now! Does the new rollerball tip fit in the older Konrad rollerballs? If so, where can I get the new feed and spare tips? That being said, you're taking my pens and my right to use them from my cold dead hands!
purepens.co.uk seems to have an image of the ebonite feed ink ball model still on the site....however, you could email them to confirm that is the one available as they do have the newest model in stock as of the last week or so. www.purepens.co.uk/products/noodlers-konrad-rollerball-pen-clear-demonstrator
I got to know about Noodler's inks due to their permanence. I bought many more bottles because of what Nathan stands for. I'd love to see a Jordan Peterson ink with the catfish/dragon of chaos for label.
Anyone know how to reach him? If we ever have a Boston show again.....do you think some Canadians might bother with a trip to visit their American friends for a Jordan Peterson themed ink? We have not seen many Canadian collectors in New England since the early 1990s - I miss them! Hmmm... "Psychopathic Endurance" - a permanent and durable core with a radical and unpredictably chaotic halo of fiery hues?
@@InkNeedLastForever His influence is far beyond Canada. I'm sure he has more fans in the US than Canada. I would be willing to buy the entire stock if they don't sell out. The description is already making me excited!
This would be a really sad thing to do, I think. Equating J. Peterson's nonsense ideas as perfect examples of free speech is just absurd and further cements the (increasingly less incorrect) perception that people advocating for "free speech" are really just insecure man-babies wishing they could denigrate other people without consequences. J. Peterson is not a champion of free speech. He is not a victim of persecution. The fact that apparently someone somewhere thinks he should be jailed for what he says just proves he has said something publicly. While we respect his right to spout hateful nonsense, we don't need to respect/honor the things he says.
About Jordan Peterson: some of his ideas are idiotic, and yet some are as sensible as can be. Like Voltaire, I would defend his rights to speak out, warts and all.
I was amazed at the extremely intense hostility some students have towards that particular individual. One openly said he deserved far more punishment for expressing his "hate filled" opinions than a person driving under the influence of alcohol/narcotics on a public roadway! One "crime" is a protected right, the other real crime often results in tragic fatalities of innocent people on our roadways.
@@InkNeedLastForever but what if the speech directly leads to people inciting violence? Shouldn't that be regulated? One could argue it's taking away the safety of some individuals for the rights of the others...
@@TheFuckinfunkin And how exactly does language inflict direct bodily harm upon a person? It seems to me there is a person committing the violence, and we already have a societal contract that states we will come down upon anyone who chooses to commit such acts.
@@osirisgolad ideally yes, that's how it's supposed to happen. But we see many people exclude and promote ostracization of people and ilicit an emotional response from people who do then commit the harm then the people who spoke so loudly against those people walk away whistling saying they didn't tell them to do that exact thing... I'm not saying provocative speech should be illegal, I'm saying that responsibility and recognizing the effect that your speech gives other people is just as necessary. You can't be all "we should revolt and this is bullshit!" Then when people revolt violently because you've convinced them suddenly change their message and be like "I didn't say that shit, I meant do it peacefully" when you were mad as hell shouting it. When we allow that stuff to happen, we're giving all of the power and none of the responsibility to people like that, like people who advocate for islamaphobia or anti semitism.. we shouldn't give them a defense mechanism in this aspect. It's a hard needle to thread, and I'm just debating with someone on the internet I don't know and they don't own me. I'm just saying if someone has poisonous thoughts and they express them, there is less rights for people who are affected by the poisonous thoughts... Eventually ideas catch on then suddenly VERY dangerous thoughts run rampant in society. We have to be careful and responsible for that.
@@TheFuckinfunkin Why can't the listener just decide to ignore what the instigator is saying? Why can't a different speaker come along and convince the listener not to listen to the instigator? I don't see why a gag is required; the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I'm a fan of the metal in the safety pen. I think that was a great addition. Would you be able to do another video on feed modification for flex pens? The modifications in the old video are hard to see and the close-up shots that were linked in the video description are not longer available. In particular, I'm trying to modify the feed for fast flexing and I can't seem to get it right
It is more art than science. Science requires at least some factors held constant - whereas with radical flexing the temperature, viscosity, air channel, width of the ink channel, air passage/entrance, rapidity of stroke, width of the tine separation per stroke, etc.....all will work perfectly in one circumstance but not another (temperature - cold room to a hot room...or humidity and feathering - example: New Orleans at 100% humidity with 98 deg. F is tough for any water based ink). That is why the best attempt at flex usually pleases a bell curve - but never 100% of users. There is an artist in the Boston area who adjusts vintage ebonite feeds to carry a visible large drop of ink at the end of the feed/pooling in the nib channel. If he moves the pen to a high vertical angle, it drools...so amazingly he keeps it at the same angle throughout a whole work of calligraphy art and has been doing so for decades. You have given me the idea for a video - I'll gather up some vintage pens and some ebonite feed Noodler's pens and see what can be clearly done with higher resolution. Next snowstorm/blizzard....:-)
Nathan thank you for your excellent work on inks and writing instruments. I'm an chemical engineer by trade and wonder how you've experienced the engineering that goes into designing a pen. How do you experience the collaboration between yourself and the manufacturers?
Sometimes I have to eat my mistakes...sometimes, like it or not...there is costly trial and error. Sometimes the market proves an idea/concept to be correct...other times one has their hat handed back to them. It is a humbling experience over many years. I will say...it is easier to manufacture at a globally competitive price in most places other than the state where Noodler's is based. That ink production remains as competitive as it is - without price increases when so many others seem addicted to them - has been a continuous and constant struggle. As I said in the video - it is akin to pulling a rabbit out of a hat over and over again....until one wonders how long that can last before the miracles run out. My deepest concern has been that each time somebody fails in this struggle - American living standards for every one of us...go down a little more. Only increases in productivity and stability in price levels will ever result in rising living standards for all...which I think is a noble goal to chalk as a success before resting under the flowers! As a side note, not once in my lifetime has the legislature on Beacon Hill EVER reduced the cost of living...not once...they only seem to exist to increase the burden on everyone. Who knows how long I will last here...but there are many other places that are even worse!
Amanda - I understand and I nearly am a hermit. I LIKE my solitude. Mandatory isolation is not the same thing by any means! People are not designed to live in pristine, hermetically, sealed bubbles isolated from all other human beings; we need each other, at least from time to time. That said, I sure do like my solitude (as determined of my own volition not by Covid-19 panic!). My best to you and may you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year ... with some Solitude thrown in for good measure!!
Hi... I roll mine as shaking it makes bubbles... The reason I do this it's just in case there's settlement...maybe there isn't but theres so much dye in the inks I always think there's settle so I gently roll them a few times.
I have a bottle of black from 2004...it gets a good shake now and then before filling (the temperature heating cycle in the winter can gently distill an ink while in the bottle).
They taste VERY good - vengeance for Lyme! Free range, no hormone treatments, grass and acorn fed, all organic, lean protein...& freeze well in a marinade of one's choice for up to four years - over 100 lbs for just a $5 tag. Beats any grocery store...and you don't have to wear a mask while out in the woods getting one! Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard will PAY you to reduce their overpopulated herd (which is now destroying the understory of the forests). Far better to appreciate them as a noble game animal than ever to view them as pests... ;-)

Canadian government doesn't prosecute crimes (very weird that a senior majoring in that field doesn't know the basics) and Jordan Peterson is very healthy despite his diet and frequent trips to Russia, he is still around doing interviews and defecating useless books for those gullible enough to buy one; 4.Just to reiterate point 1: Monsieur Paty is a hero.
I am always stunned when intelligent people lack wisdom, but finally, after many years I have discovered the two most common reasons: people who feel small inside envious of those who appear greater, and/or willful ignorance because a selfish way of life is challenged. Jordan is fighting marxism and the pseudo-intellectual femminist idea that masculinity is toxic. If you didn't know that, I hope I have helped you see his situation more clearly.
@@gristlevonraben The only thing he has managed to fight so far is history, biology and sociology all at once. So much so that the best his fanboys can aspire to is to further his desperate narrative by singing his inexistent deeds. BTW, it's written "feminist" ! If you didn't know that, I hope I have helped you see our current grammar more clearly.
Agreed. Placing the horrific murder of M. Paty’s on the same plane as legitimate critique of Peterson’s vacuous hucksterism is sad, if not bordering on reprehensible. No group or government has suppressed or persecuted Peterson’s various ejaculations. He’s been living quite well on fattened calves that keep being delivered to him.
@@copasetic1 That ANY American thinks ANYONE should be jailed for "hate speech" is a tremendous failing of our education system. That this sentiment exists among our youth disgusts me. There was NO "equivalency" argument made, yet it speaks volumes that so many of our youth believe "hate speech" should be a jailable offense!!!
@@InkNeedLastForever They are entitled to their own opinion just like you and the education system cannot teach you what to think, at best can only provide means on how to think, the rest is up to personal choices. Also "so many of our youth" means absolutely nothing when the text example you provided is just a single student.
I disagree with a lot of Jordan Peterson's ideas but I would never want him to be prevented from expressing them. I do think that some "wisdom" he is spreading can be harmful. In particular he contributed a lot to toxic masculinity that is so pervasive in western culture. However, he can be proven wrong by other means. And his ideas that cannot be proven wrong easily, should create space for dialogue rather than hostility
New to fountain pens and I stumbled on your channel, Great Videos. I appreciate your feelings on this subject and as well as the idea of making good affordable products you can service yourself. Just ordered an AHAB and a dozen color samples to try out. Thanks
You surely must share your work
Ronspotz Hi , you’ve wrote three books, well done sir 👍 Have you considered self publishing ?
I bought my big bottle of HOD because of why you made it. We might not agree but I believe in your right to say it.
HOD is the best permanent black on the market: superb quality, archival and good value
Thank you for all your work and I appreciate your political point of view, freedom above comfort.
Just found you friend. You're a breath of fresh air. God bless.
I would love any tips you can give me
@Trent Oakley instablaster ;)
Does google allow that? Hmmm...let us see: Merry Christmas to you as well! ;-)
William Semo - the same to you as well. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous 2021.

Thank you for this video and as always Nathan you have produced excellent, heart-felt and timely content! Your pens and inks are always within reach of me and I only wish I wrote and doodled as much as I talk! Merry Chistmas, please stay healthy and safe and have a Happy New Year!
Amazing how profound the implications are of something as commonplace as pen and ink. Long live our freedom to Noodle !
@@InkNeedLastForever Indeed - and Bernanke Black is not easily modified by a physical "algorithm" ...
It should be noted that just because you don’t exercise a right doesn’t mean you don’t hold that right. Do not give it up for nought.
Thank you Nathan for bearing our flag of Liberty. Excellent message sir.
Thank you, Mr. Tardif!
Thank you Nathan, you speak the truth!!
Where do you get the rollerballs at? I don’t see them on Goulet pens.
I’m a former Muslim who now follows Christ. I really appreciate your message and I just purchased the Heart of Darkness with the Charlie pen. The pen truly is mightier than the sword. May we shine the light of Christ into the heart of darkness. May you continue doing what you do - your passion shows.
Thank you, Nathan. Truth well-spoken. 👏
Great stuff can’t wait to get another safety!
I feel like I need to dedicate my first book to you. I'm proud to say I just bought my first bottle of Heart of Darkness today and I plan on using it to write my first book.
Thank you sir, I needed to hear this.
I also need to pick up one of the new safety pens.
I love HoD, the pens, and your views. Please keep up the great work.
Norvin, don't be part of the problem. Not HOD, rather, Heart of Darkness. Fight the good fight.
When I did the math, I found that it’s somewhere near 52 Charlies of ink in a 4.5oz bottle. One for every week of the year 😆
This is my first time of hearing of Samual Paty 😢
I’m excited to have found your channel.

WOW. Thank you for the food for thought.
Well stated! THANK you. Believe absurdities/Commit atrocities still true esp now. When/where will the new design/style rollerballs be out?

I was just drawing with my Charlie/HoD today, so what you said strikes true for me
It was not Tsarist era ink, but it was Soviet Russian production....close enough! ;-)
@@InkNeedLastForever Thanks for the reply. I will add the movie to my list to watch this coming year!

I'm hoping the chestnut model I just bought is the updated model. I know my black one is from the earliest production.

Thanks. Sadly, no more need be said.
I really don't mind an increase in price of HoD. But I guess on principle I see why Nathan doesn't want to raise the price.
We sadly are way past Orwell's warnings, one needs only look towards China to see a full fledged social score system
Lucky for me I have never been good at tests. Can't wait for my failed social score.

I got to know about Noodler's inks due to their permanence. I bought many more bottles because of what Nathan stands for. I'd love to see a Jordan Peterson ink with the catfish/dragon of chaos for label.
He would love that lol
Anyone know how to reach him? If we ever have a Boston show again.....do you think some Canadians might bother with a trip to visit their American friends for a Jordan Peterson themed ink?
I wanna be a hermit
Amanda - I understand and I nearly am a hermit. I LIKE my solitude. Mandatory isolation is not the same thing by any means! People are not designed to live in pristine, hermetically, sealed bubbles isolated from all other human beings; we need each other, at least from time to time. That said, I sure do like my solitude (as determined of my own volition not by Covid-19 panic!).
My best to you and may you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year ... with some Solitude thrown in for good measure!!
Should I shake a bottle of your ink prior to filling a pen if the ink has sat for some time - or weeks or months?
Hi... I roll mine as shaking it makes bubbles... The reason I do this it's just in case there's settlement...maybe there isn't but theres so much dye in the inks I always think there's settle so I gently roll them a few times.
@@Rubedo777 Never thought of rolling, good idea. Thanks.
I have a bottle of black from 2004...it gets a good shake now and then before filling (the temperature heating cycle in the winter can gently distill an ink while in the bottle).
Thank you, if only more choose ink over blood. My HoD will feel different on every refill.
Very cool
deer are like rats around here this year eh?
the religion of peace strikes again.... R.I.P. mon frère...
Far better to appreciate them as a noble game animal than ever to view them as pests... ;-)
@@InkNeedLastForever i haven't taken the hunter safety course yet....
A cousin of mine passed away, and i inherited his Mossberg Maverick 88, his duck gun... i would like to go after Daffy some day.
I have a few friends who hunt deer i've had it before and yeh, you can't beat the value!
👍
Will there be an ink named after the storming of the U.S. Capitol? Were you there?
1. I wonder how Paty can be on the same pedestal as JP: one payed with his own life to express his freedom, the other one only made a quick buck around with fairy tales about lobsters and never to be found threats to his freedom of speech;
2. Students don't make policies;
3. Canadian government doesn't prosecute crimes (very weird that a senior majoring in that field doesn't know the basics) and Jordan Peterson is very healthy despite his diet and frequent trips to Russia, he is still around doing interviews and defecating useless books for those gullible enough to buy one;
4.Just to reiterate point 1: Monsieur Paty is a hero.
On a less serious note, I never thought ink could be so political. I really like it, way to go Noodler's!
New to fountain pens and I stumbled on your channel, Great Videos. I appreciate your feelings on this subject and as well as the idea of making good affordable products you can service yourself. Just ordered an AHAB and a dozen color samples to try out. Thanks
