In this video we start to assemble the duramax engine for my C10 drag truck project. Hope you enjoy it! --Check out my Instagram-- SketchyDA Thanks for watching!
doing how to videos wont hurt you like you think, by all means there are cards we all keep close to our chest, those hard earned solutions, but general how-to's wont hurt you, indeed showing how meticulous and thorough you are in routine stuff may even help you or give a potential customer confidence in you over another shop. FWIW I own my own shop, 90% of my work is problems for other shops, I specialise in the nightmare jobs, so I appreciate when you want to keep your knowledge, but I also appreciate the advantage in others knowing what I can do :)
How about being second guessed by every keyboard warrior that knows how to type glow plug? Whenever anyone says to jump over a puddle, 10 others say walk around it and another 10 say build a bridge over it and you guessed it, 10 more say to tunnel under it. I get what you mean, but how to videos catch a tremendous amount of heat. It's like the stupid Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge rants.
i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my account password. I love any help you can give me
Engine parts White to match the roof and not just be the same would look bloody cool IMO. When parts look this sexy,is almost a shame they end up inside the engine! Exited to see how she comes out Wyatt, and the journey there!
Hey Wyatt, Perhaps you should consider schooling your boy Hayden on how to use micrometers and how to Mic” a Crankshaft, Main bearing and Rod journals and only use plasti-gauge when you are in lower butt-scratch just North of Taint and South of the outer Rings of Uranus
I did the same thing when I forgot to install my cam gear lol. Had that "fuckin ay" moment as well but I sneaked it in as well! No backtracking haha. As far as painting the front/rear covers... You literally won't even see them as soon as the engine is fully assembled and in the truck. If anything just have the outermost parts that are more exposed powdered/painted, if you ask me! Valve covers, accessory brackets, coolant crossover, piping, etc.
I’m glad there’s some folks doing diesel how to videos, I did a head gasket job on my lb7 a couple months ago not knowing anything but it went ok. The shops around here wanted $6000-$7000 and my truck wasn’t worth much more than that.
I am so glad I can have other people do all the work on my cars these days. It was so much easier in the 70s-80s to work on my cars. The main reason is because I was 30-40 years younger! And everything wasn’t run with computers or electronics. But it is fun to watch you guys doing it. Never had a chance to work on Diesel engines they were only in big trucks back in those days. Will be watching your build to completion. Had a 70 C10 4x4 in the late 70s so this build interests me more than most. Keep up the great work!
A shiney black (super glossy) would pop against the flat black of the engine bay. And look classy AF. . . These videos have shown me you care about your work environment. Far different than Kyle's or Haden's. Everything is clean and not cluttered. Love your videos!
If you are painting the engine black and the truck the original orange or some color lose perhaps a good color for engine brackets that will look good over time would be Pewter, cast iron Silver (like a brand new Cast Iron Skilllet) or the silver that was used on 68/69 Camaro’s. My thought is Silver even as it weathered and got a little dirty would still look good.
polish all the things you'd paint orange and then brush them all the same direction with some sand paper and then clear coat with duplicolor engine enamel clear. no matter what color the truck is painted, this will go with it. brushed metal/black, universal af.
Dont be scared to show off your diesel talents bud. If anything you'll gain more customers who see what you are capable of doing than you will lose out on because they decided to do it themselves. A person can already google or RUclips just about any information they need on fixing/repairing vehicles and so a person planning on doing something there self is gonna do it regardless. Good luck love seeing you share your passion and knowledge and keep it up.
finally a detailed engine build video its been a while since ive put one together and go with antifreeze green for the motor parts it would pop and look good with the orange in both matte and gloss
The perfect color is called " Colorado Cheek Red" J/k brother! Thanks for the upload. Ive never seen anyone use a forklift as a engine hoist! Its obvious youve done this once or twice!!!
This is one of the videos that inspired me with my built motor. I cant wait to see you finish this truck one day. Its going to be badass with the amount of time invested into the chassis and everything.
Definitely set yourself up for the future and go with the brighter orange. Plus it looks like the engine bay is already closer to that OG color so I think it will just look better regardless.
I think building a motor is a matter of personal preference, i like the Motor room so to speak or call it, I like to do any assembly in that very clean environment so there is no possibility of dust or any foreign matter gets into the corner or pre Lube for cam, crank, etc. i love your channel the just real deal shop were you can spend endless hours doing work that you and many of us love to do. Great channel bud
I prefer polished metal over paint. Gloss white would contrast nicely to the black and orange. White is hard to keep clean, but it also points out leaks if any. When clean, it just looks cleaner by nature.
well i don't know how you would feel about it but there is that classic HEMI orange that would probably be pretty close to that orange you're looking for
SketchyDAdbod coming in clutch with excellent content. Thanks Wyatt! 😘 Also Turbo Yoda koality with the explanation of what you’re doing technically. 👌
Who the hell is this guy when is Wyatt coming back. Please return him to his body and mind. Wyatt if ever own a diesel I'm coming to you buddy for the work. Keep up the great content thank you for the video
Ikr. He is so proper and well thought out on his channel and when he is on other peoples channels he's all loud and swearing and stuff lol. I am liking this build though!
I’d say go with a Cream color. Unless going with the exact same orange that you plan on painting it. Seems like it’ll be a off street party truck more than a daily. Cream would be rad.
Best intro in town over here boys

@Damon Reginald Instablaster :)
Wyatt deserves way more likes than he gets!
Dam bro get an engine stand. Been building engines for over 30 years would never without a stand.
Hope he keyed the crank and cam
Plum crazy would look sick! I would good with the black, white, and orange.
Piston ring windows re-boot....Good job Wyatt and you even checked you crankshaft end-play, well done!
Engine parts White to match the roof and not just be the same would look bloody cool IMO. When parts look this sexy,is almost a shame they end up inside the engine! Exited to see how she comes out Wyatt, and the journey there!
Damn dude you going balls out blueprinting that engine,👍👍👍, a real engine builder!!!!
Blue is a fantastic compliment color to orange. See any movie poster made in the last 10 years.
Illusion orange would be sick for that build
Bout time we saw this get built
Hey Wyatt, Perhaps you should consider schooling your boy Hayden on how to use micrometers and how to Mic” a Crankshaft, Main bearing and Rod journals and only use plasti-gauge when you are in lower butt-scratch just North of Taint and South of the outer Rings of Uranus
The orange will be sick
Looks like Chevy Orange to me, and Chevy Orange is what I suggest.
Engine build done correctly! No plasigauge insight. Props to you dude, not half assing it
I did the same thing when I forgot to install my cam gear lol. Had that "fuckin ay" moment as well but I sneaked it in as well! No backtracking haha.

Yeeeeeeah boiiiiiii. Finally some Wyatt content.
Hugger orange is a gm orange and close to what that interior looks like
Smart using the forklift as a adjustable table 👌
Awesome video! Just paint it silver use silver pin stripe on that orange like gun metal
I’m a big fan of Alpine Green like the old Detroit engines. I think it would be something no one uses anymore!
These look great Tiffany teal and white pearl

For me computers have only made troubleshooting and repairing easier. But I do agree sometimes it's nice to work on an old carburated car😁
Came here from the boosted boiz channel after seeing the c10 build you had going.... lookin forward to watching your build bro
No the cam isn't gonna go chop chop lmfao. U one funny ass dude

Love your videos!
Cyan, orange and black is a classic racing combination and always looks great.
Paint the accessories white to match the roof of the truck 👌🏻
Lime green will contrast heaps with the orange
Race ready orange! Keep em comin dad bod for days lmao
No plasty gauge. Doing the work to perfection. Good work!
Holy hell. Someone that actually mic's instead of plastigauge.
Wasted extra steps. What's wrong with plastigauges?
It’s actually accurate. Go to any real deal engine shop, and have them show you a comparison.
@@RLD_Media What's accurate? The plastigauges? Did you mean inaccurate?
when you want to build a gem, you will use a mic that goes down to 10,000ths for bearing clearance.
plastic wont do that...
Chevy orange for sure 🤘🏽
A shade of grey, darker than lighter, maybe even some metallic flake for some pop. Looking awesome! Dream build for me! Keep it up
Can't go wrong with chevy orange engine paint. Keep up the awesome work on this build.
Bright orange forsure
No question about it go with traditional Chevy orange cut that roof little bit I think it would look badass
Youre shop is sick

It's so refreshing to see someone who knows what there doing.. WELL DONE KEEP IT UP..
Vibrant orange is great
polish all the things you'd paint orange and then brush them all the same direction with some sand paper and then clear coat with duplicolor engine enamel clear. no matter what color the truck is painted, this will go with it. brushed metal/black, universal af.
Ziptied copper plates to the vise bc its a softer metal than steel. Fuckin' Mint!
ha love it! good to see i am not the only one who improvise bench space to build motors... love the forklift bench
Nice 👍🏻 work!! Cool motor, awesome project.
Chevy orange will always work.
Man respect for the blue printing takes crazy amounts of time

Nice looking shop sir
Paint them white! I know they will get dirty as shit but the white would match the top of the cab and provide great contrast to the black block!
Amazing video , not too many people posting this
finally a detailed engine build video its been a while since ive put one together and go with antifreeze green for the motor parts it would pop and look good with the orange in both matte and gloss
Totally match the engine colour with that orange of the truck. 👌
OG!!! Chevrolet orange!!!
And if you want a different color besides orange id go with blue. In the right shading of blue. Itll look killer! Maybe like a king coilover blue
GM engine orange. Will look good with the rest of the rig plus keep with the old school look.
The wrist pins and rods could pull a locomotive . Super strong 💪
they make a spray paint called cast iron that looks good
Orange with black accents would look mean.Cant wait to see this beast in action.
Great assembler!
The perfect color is called " Colorado Cheek Red" J/k brother! Thanks for the upload. Ive never seen anyone use a forklift as a engine hoist! Its obvious youve done this once or twice!!!
Keep er coming bud nice meeting you in bradenton. !
This is one of the videos that inspired me with my built motor. I cant wait to see you finish this truck one day. Its going to be badass with the amount of time invested into the chassis and everything.
NICE CHOICE ON THE RODS ! CARRILLO RODS ARE THE BEST RODS IN THE BIZ...PERIOD !!!
Definitely set yourself up for the future and go with the brighter orange. Plus it looks like the engine bay is already closer to that OG color so I think it will just look better regardless.
Definitely go with orange for the accent colors, as well as on all piping and turbo. That would be sick!
Nice video, I'm glad that you're honest about why you don't do how to videos very refreshing Thank You.
Merry Christmas!
Polishing the aluminum engine covers would look rad!
Good video bro. Hope to see many more
Nice table he made! Haha
Nice video bud and make the cover to look like wood maybe some mahogany lol ✌🏻
Don't know how I went from watching someone eating hot wings to this but I like it so I'm staying as a new subscriber awesome editing 💪

Chevy orange sense it’s going in a Chevy. Besides, nothing goes with orange except black.
white does
Grey does
Blue.... you know I had to
@@allmarinemaintenance3714 yep, Miss Elstrom
Billet goes with any color.
Purple pan. Black orange and purple is halloween. Lol
I would take a vibrant green, like Kawasaki lime green or even an fluoressant green!! Would look awesome.. That's going to be some sweet trucky!!
Vibrant orange
I just noticed the Speed Limit 9 & 1/2 Sign In The Back 🤣😂
Very nice work!👍👍
White on valve covers, orange on pan
You need to do more content more often you have pretty good content
You should look into total seals gapless top rings. They make it so soot and compression get into your crank case.
Illusion orange for the power coat .
Chevy orange with some pearl in the clear coat!
A lil more accurate than a plastiguage
I prefer polished metal over paint.
Gloss white would contrast nicely to the black and orange.
White is hard to keep clean, but it also points out leaks if any.
When clean, it just looks cleaner by nature.
You should upload more really enjoy your vids never disappointed. Have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from Massachusetts
Go with a candy orange/root beer/copper variant. Will go well with both old and new paint 👍👍👍
been geekin out on d24 videos
well i don't know how you would feel about it but there is that classic HEMI orange that would probably be pretty close to that orange you're looking for
Thanks for letting me know about the time lapse . I thought you was working really really fast 😂😂😂😂
SketchyDAdbod coming in clutch with excellent content. Thanks Wyatt! 😘

Love this man can’t wait till next video
glad youre back champ!
Just got done watching. Love the build I also subscribed. Can’t wait to see that truck rip
vibrant orange
i can't wait to hear this engine pur. thanks again for great video.
Mmm, tasty raspberry jam cam! Loving the build man, awesome progress. Thanks for showing us how to do it right!
I like to paint the engine a bright color so that if there's an oil leak it's hard to see it on a black engine block
I’d say go with a Cream color. Unless going with the exact same orange that you plan on painting it. Seems like it’ll be a off street party truck more than a daily. Cream would be rad.
