Mexico in RDR2 looks exactly like RDR1 except it’s less detailed and no buildings. My guess is the devs straight up pulled out the map area in RDR1 to RDR2 in the files.
Actually, the reason there were no buildings was that that region of Mexico was still developing. The game was set in 1899, 13 years before 1911, the year Red Dead Redemption started. If you look at Blackwater during 1907 or 1899, the entire area is still in development. Compare the 1907/1899 area to the 1911 Blackwater and you can get the picture.
Yeah, I know that the area is not listed as part of the main map, but you have to admit, Rockstar went all the way to create details for areas that are not even part of the main map. Most of the time the developers just make the boundaries impossible to pass, spawn you back at the start if you pass it, or even just insta-kill you.

The Mexican Revolution (the real one starting in 1910) Saw the first use by the Americans of cars with machine guns on the back. An fun Idea by a man named Patton :P
At this point, I believe the developers left these "path" intentionally for people to find them. They could've easily used an invisible wall to block you if they don't want you to find them.
When ur horse is down a cool trick to revive it when u re missing of horse revivers just start a campfire and the horse will spawn right next the campfire
Grizzlies west AND east were gonna be way bigger in the beta. That's why the mountain range in trailer 1 looks completely different and is way snowier. Just look up RDR2 beta map on google and you'll see!
It's so obvious when you see the detail in it compared to the other out of bound areas - especially considering that they bothered to put wild horse spawns there. IIRC someone found some neat details out of bounds like a landslide, then obviously the caves exist
You can also go into the cave near the Geddes ranch and drink until you pass out. You will wake up outside of the map. Same with the giant/sasquatch cave. There are horses you can use that spawn out there.
It’d be cool if Rockstar put a piece of modern technology somewhere far south of the map as an easter egg. It would be like you’ve found the edge of Westworld.

It's fun, because it's not like the classic games that you have to cross a wall or put on a trick. In this game you have to actually travel to the point where you want to go and the guy in the video will have put at least 1 hour to cross the map.
this glitch is outdated now so here’s a new one for the latest patch if you head directly south of the second O in gaptooth ridge until you reach the san luis river you’ll find a steep slope into the river, go into first person and take out dual wielded side arms, hold LT / L2 and hold down A / X (X on PS4/5) and then move backwards and as you slide hold the left analog stick to the left and the right analog stick to the right, if you’ve done it correctly (it doesn’t sound too easy but it is, trust me) your camera should start glitching out a little and you should start sliding into the water, continue until you reach mexico (you should start hearing the mexico free roam music around halfway through)
I helped Design the Landmark Diablo del Ojo and El Presidio. I still have not played a lot of the second one, but when I saw the Fort i the distance, one of the first things I wanted to do was see if I could get there. I never got around to it so thank you for saving me the time!

Yes, in earlier versions of RDR2, you can go to Guarma if you keep going east. In the latest versions you need to use the roundabout way to reach Guarma (shown in my Guarma video),

Judging by the presence of El Presidio, they must have been planning to include Mexico early on and then scrapped it as some point. It would have been cool if there was an easter egg or hidden cut scene on the off chance that someone managed to get there.

You just figure it out it doesn’t take a genius to figure out if you camp in certain places you’ll glitch outside the map It’s been done many times before in red dead there was a way of going back to guarma too which included camping After you get outside it’s just trial and error and hours of falling through the map until you get it just right

Great video, but not Mexico. The Arches National Park is Utah. Then at the end, there’s Monument Valley which again is Utah and Arizona. Looks like a future game extension that will involve a bigger map. It will happen, they’re probably waiting for a larger amount of players. Of course there will be a RDR3, but that’s a long way off and would require some serious advances in computing. So in the meantime, we are going to experience map extensions and several new Cities like NY and SAN Francisco. Again great video, I noticed this fort across the river while fathing around south of Thief’s Landing. Nice to actually see it close up. Have subbed because it’s video of the day........😃
They need to release the first game as an extension to this game. That way when you finish you can just transition into playing rdr1. Maybe even add a few scenes such as them taking the Marstons, and recruiting John.

TheDonBro I agree with you when you say that they used the same map as rdr1 and added to it but I wouldn't call them lazy, they still had to put a LOT of work into the game

Great video, but not Mexico. The Arches National Park is Utah. Then at the end, there’s Monument Valley which again is Utah and Arizona. Looks like a future game extension that will involve a bigger map. It will happen, they’re probably waiting for a larger amount of players. Of course there will be a RDR3, but that’s a long way off and would require some serious advances in computing. So in the meantime, we are going to experience map extensions and several new Cities like NY and SAN Francisco. Again great video, I noticed this fort across the river while fathing around south of Thief’s Landing. Nice to actually see it close up. Have subbed because it’s video of the day........😃
In Red Dead Redemption 1, the same places are labeled Mexico on the map. Rockstar borrowed Utah and Arizona scenery to make Mexico
They need to release the first game as an extension to this game. That way when you finish you can just transition into playing rdr1. Maybe even add a few scenes such as them taking the Marstons, and recruiting John.

i wish they added it in the game, the memories of red dead redemption 1 where i go to mexico as jack and so hola to randoms and amazed that they are riding donkeys because its seeing something new to me. i might as well just pull out the old system to play it because thats the only mexico we will get.

I did one full lap around the whole map, the out of bounds areas in the grizzlies are awesome, there are near bottomless valleys
