However.... almost every detail of the styling has been passed down from the original LJ/ SJ series that the Jimny is descended from, so it's no pastiche of modern cars by other manufacturers. The LJ had a ladder chassis and a low range box as well. Everywhere you look inside it looks like either the SJ or LJ - Suzuki have been very clever. My first car has an LJ80 and I also had a couple of SJ410s. The magic is back!
Thanks Ed! To be honest I didn’t think many would know the older SJ references! The designer has been quoted as saying he has tweaked and modified the design to take elements from the modern designs like the G and Wrangler though, so I wasn’t totally off 😉

Hi all, I just want to put my penny worth in why I have the third Jimny within 30 years AND would buy the newest one in a flash had I the cash. 1. As I am not the youngest I love to sit high 2. It goes everywhere. 3. It is small, great for city-driving and parking (I have no Kids) 4. I took the backseat out and have plenty of shopping space. 5. It is one of the few cars these days with a real spare wheel. 5. ..and I love it since the first tiny version! None of them let me down, getting along the bush, on the farm and at one stage we went with 8 people (EIGHT plus the beer and the sausages!!!) going for a beach picnic!
Great review. This is a proper old school 4×4 with some modern stuff thrown in. Have you seen the new Defender prototype? I'd much rather have one of these.
@@BOTBreviews Yep they've priced themselves out of their traditional market - farmers, construction companies, enthusiasts etc. It's a world and some away from the Defender we know and love. Ok maybe I'm been hasty as it's not even been released yet haha but it looks like it's gone the same way as all the other so called Land Rovers which is very sad.
Our 2020 Jimny SZ5 manual (exactly the same as this one) is fine up to about 65mph, much quieter than our Land Rover and not much louder than our VW Up. Above 70mph you start to hear the engine as it's approaching 4,000rpm but it's in no way deafening. Best to set the cruise control at 65mph, at that speed it achieves 40mpg

That's a lot of very capable car for very little money. That roll though...... is it noisy inside?
It’s not too bad actually, it’s a fairly quiet engine. Above 50 it can get a bit of wind noise and tyre roar though - Tim
