  • This is my addition to the jasmine crochet tutorial chorus. I have worked out how to make a circle of any size without pointy, hexagonal corners, and I explain it thoroughly. Jasmine stitch works up thick and sturdy, beautifully suited to placemats, coasters and trivets. If you watch this video, you will end up with an understanding of the basic construction of jasmine stitch in the round, which will allow you to make circles of your own in any size.

I do briefly describe the basic techniques of jasmines stitch as I go, but you'll have a smoother ride if you watch my jasmine stitch video first:

I finally got it! Suggestion. I hook my middle finger in the final yo before you pull through all the loops to isolate that "pinched" strand. A lot eaiser.

Question: Why are there only 5 petals on the first flower in round 2? I wonder if this is just a feature of the stitch, or whether it would work to do an additional Jinc at the beginning of the round to make that first flower have 6 petals? Freeze at 8:46 and you can see what I'm referring to.

I will look into this. Strange !

You are right. You also end up with a 7-petal flower adjacent. I don't find it too noticeable in the finished circle, and it doesn't recur in any of the subsequent rounds, but yes, it is weird and a simple fix as you suggest - working 2 consecutive JIncs at the beginning of round 2 - does resolve it. To keep the total number of JIncs in that round to 6, you could work the round as "JInc twice, (J, JInc) 4 times, 2J." I will change it in the pdf, and eventually change it in the video as well. Thanks for the tip!

I am always missing I stitch at the end of the row/.

Hmm, sorry to hear that. Your count is off each round? Do you start each round with an increase ie. 2-petal-stitch? As long as it looks like a circle and lies flat it shouldn't matter😂. Troubling though.

Sorry to hear that! Maybe it would help to familiarize yourself with the basic jasmine stitch first, ruclips.net/video/MnMLkLE0Wv4/видео.htmlsi=82fSzi_An6iApLoF, or have the pdf to follow at your own pace. www.loveapplecrafts.com/product-page/jasmine-stitch-circles
      Good luck!
