  • I build a board I would never have thought I would own and it went beyond my expectations. I hope Monokei and TGR keep up the good work. Sorry, I look kinda crusty and there are some weird bits in the audio. The ping in the sound test is from the filter and does not actually exist in person.

    congrats on winning the raffle mate! so glad you made this video - you've articulated the feeling of owning this board better than anyone else i've seen. i followed the exact same emotional path of "holy shit" but then not being fully sure how to feel about it, then warming up to it over time after tweaking to preference. love the vid man! keep up the awesome work.

      Thanks man! Your vid on this board is a work of art and really inspired me. It helped me really understand the cultural significance of it. I wish I mentioned it more here. You're words are too kind 🙏😭❤️

    Well said! Makes me even more excited to get mine. Great build and the sound test was so nice. You referring to the board as “consistent” is the most exciting aspect to me. Endgame (my bank account hopes)

    Honestly, I've come to really like the scratchiness that the Hyperglides tend to offer, great build.

    Congrats on winning the raffle! Did you do any mods on the board?

    • @Wongsquared
      @Wongsquared  Год назад

      Thanks! I actually did not do any mods to the board. It felt like a shame to do mods on such a beautifully designed board. I don't feel like it needs any either. It's actually perfect as is to me at least.

    I strongly disagree with your opinion. I believe that there is a significant bias at play here. Firstly, the hype surrounding the board, from years of reading about it, to the second round of production, the raffle, and finally winning it, all contribute to the bias.
    Furthermore, when you have invested a substantial amount of money into something, your mind naturally convinces you that it was worth it, and you begin to perceive the board as an extraordinary object. The memories of the anticipation and the expectations of the board being met and exceeded create a cycle that perpetuates the bias each time you use it.
    However, this bias is unfounded. The board is undoubtedly excellent, but there are many other high-quality options available at a much lower cost. At this point, Jane boards are outdated, and technology is improving, with studios building superior boards.
    For instance, the Mode Sonnet is a prime example of a board that is comparable to, or dare I say, even superior to a TGR Jane, at a fraction of its cost.

    • @Wongsquared
      @Wongsquared  Год назад +1

      No worries. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Honestly I wasn't excited about it till I opened it. I got it because I felt that it was something I needed to at least try. My bias was against it because in my mind I didn't think a simple rectangle could be that good and it proved me wrong. It's really good. I think it's easy to underplay how good it is because of the price but I genuinely think it's well designed after using it. That's not to say you need to spend $500-600 to get a good board which is actually about the same price as a mode 80 depending on your configuration and extras. My space 80 Apollo was also about the same price. I would say that the cost is fair. It's not for everyone but the work they put into designing it shows. I'm assuming you've used one at least but there is the same bias to hate on it like I did.
      What I can really say about it's use is that I haven't had to tune it once since building it, where Ive had to for all other boards around the same time. This is personal of course and this hobby is subjective but it was built and I haven't had any issues that beg me to mess with it.

    Bro was definitely trying to save money with the solder pcb even though he bought a Jane v2

    • @Wongsquared
      @Wongsquared  Год назад +2

      Nah. I just want to solder it in with one final build. Just felt like the thing to do with this board. Plus soldering is fun. Appreciate the concern for my budget tho. I clearly don't have enough concern.
