It was always publicly available. But you can't specify saying something is exclusive for it to no longer be true 6 months later. The Venator will be for sale directly next to the Microfighter in a months time, is the Venator therefore not lying now?

I think i can agree that Lego calling the Rex exclusive was misleading. No one should expect *any* figure to remain exclusive forever, but the fact that Rex was exclusive for less then a year is a little suspect.
The question i have is, who was harmed by this? Scalpers who bought the figure hoping to milk hundred of dollars from a collector in a few years? Whales who are sad that poors get to have their special figure that they thought was only gonna be for them?
The fact that so many people are so angry about this says a lot about how much selfishness and elitism is poisoning the LSW community.
I think people who bought the venator are harmed by this if Rex's exclusivity was even just a small percentage of the reason why they bought the venator. An exclusive figure in a 600$ set is always going to be expensive which is Lego's problem for putting him that set, not collectors for buying it.
I think the more selfish perspective is people who don't care about the integrity of the company, but only that they get a minifigure they want.
If everyone would get the cloud city boba fett for 10 bucks the myth around the figure would be gone. Collectors want exclusive and rare minifigures that's where the excitement comes from.
I really hope your (future) girlfriend or wife shares the same opinion of exclusivity that you have and chats on you
@@LegoManCamI bought the venator, and I can assure you I am not harmed.
A big thing people miss is how Lego's marketing team words things. If there is no clear distinction that the exclusive minifigure will remain exclusive forever, you can't be absolutely certain. If Lego were to say, "This minifigure will be exclusive to this set", you may take that as a fact as they've specified the longevity of the exclusivity.
Finally I can get a captain Rex without selling a kidney
As someone who does not want to spend 650$ for a set im happy that rex is now more affordable, especially since the 2013 version ist still going crazy prices. I can understand that the description as a exclusive minifigure is misleading and people are pissed about it not being exclusive anymore, but they all act like they paid the 650$ for captain rex alone and not the venator.

Especially since lego publicly stated they were not going to make popular figures exclusive to ucs sets anymore.
If lego had devious plans to scam people they sure shit wouldnt have leaked the micro fighter yet alone reveal it before may 1st-4th
So why did Lego not include the UCS X-Wing Luke in the upcoming Mech if they're not doing exclusive figures? Why has every C-3PO since the UCS landspeeder been different?
@LegoManCam If a kid wants a captain rex they need to either travel back in time to 2013, try not get scammed on the aftermarket or cough up 1000 aud for a venator.
If a kid wants a c3po or luke, they can throw a rock with their eyes closed and probably hit a cheap set with those figures thats still on shelves. Apologies, that's what i meant about "popular figures" being "exclusive". Otherwise they are constantly on shelves and lego's reasoning for including fancy ones in the ucs sets and none other likely come down to 3 reasons...
1. They are more expensive/impractical to make and don't want to feel obligated to go the extra mile for characters they constantly need to produce
2. Everyone has the generic versions of those figures anyway so lego has to choose between giving you another duplicate, a fancy one or not bother with any
3. Money (god forbid haha)
So why wouldn't they make a slight variation to this Rex figure? Maybe give him a generic faceprint to keep the UCS one exclusive?

Lego is a massive company i really don't think anyone of them gives a damn a few adults and scalpers are losing their shit over something so trivial.

2. people most likely don't have a Rex and it makes the set more desirable
3. they probably won't make another Rex for years to come. Contrast that with pilot Luke which we'll probably see again next year.
Why the fuck do yall expect for the most popular star wars characters to be exclusive to a certain set? Lego has advanced enough to allow arm printing in cheaper sets. You buy the UCS for the build not the fucking minifigure.
Not asking for the 'character' to be exclusive, I'm asking for the 'figure' to be exclusive as thats what Lego themselves said. Give him a different headpiece or something. That keeps everyone happy.
Ok I’ll admit, when you brought up the point that Lego knew that the micro fighter was coming out when they said it was exclusive, I definitely see your point.
to make a very long story short, you can't satisfy everyone
if an expensive set have an exclusive minifigure it's not fair, I can't spend that much and I will never be able to get it
if an expensive set doesn't have an exclusive minifig it's not fair, I'm spending a lot, I should get something special

if people bought the Ventador just for one minifig and now are whining that their purchase was a regret or now it's worthless, I think you bought the set for the wrong reason and put values in wrong stuff
But that's not what I was saying in the video? Whether a set should have an exclusive minifigure or not is irrelevant. The fact that Lego said something was exclusive, but are apparently going back on their word is objectively wrong.
While some statements might be true, it is more of the fact that Lego is lying and lied to their fans (I want minifigures to come in cheaper sets) but I don't support scamming their fans.

Finally dawg, someone who doesn’t own the venator and understands, no I didn’t buy it for Rex but I was making the same argument about how they knew they would be making the micro fighter while I was getting flamed for thinking a small set doesn’t take 5 weeks for them to produce
it is exclusive, there are small changes from the old one so it is technically still exclusive
I mean in away this is like a video game being exclusive on PlayStation for 6 months and then coming to Xbox.
Technically, Rex was exclusive at the time.
Now he’s just available for casual consumers.

Definitely true! But I feel as though a toy is more of a physical item, rather than a videogame which is an experience. Plus, the videogame on playstation would still be unique in its packaging compared to it on xbox for example, whereas this figure is identical.
The venator would be cool to have on display tho

Did you buy a $650 mini fig with a bonus Venator, or did you but a Venator with a bonus mini fig?
Did Lego say the mini fig would remain exclusive for any specific period of time?
Currently it looks like "Microfighter Rex" is the same as "Venator Rex", but we won't know for sure until the full head print is revealed. If it is the same "order 66 head" then Lego did lie about exclusivity of the figure. But if it turns out to be a standard Rex head similar to, or identical to the original "Phase 2 Rex" or "Rebels Rex" , then it will be a "Variant" and not affect "Venator Rex" values.

Yeah its sad but its the same version of the rex I just think the best way is to have 2 variants 1 with the bandage that would be exlusive to venator and 1 with a normal clone head that would be in a microfighter its a win win situation for both side everyone gonna get rex for cheap but this is the thing that little angries me not that fact that everyone gets rex no but the thing lego could change the head from "bandage rex" to "normal rex" still gonna buy the venator

I have gotten the newest 501st Battle Pack I've customised all of them to be different types of 501st Troopers should be nice to actually have a leader for them plus it would be a nice addition to my mandalorian and my boba fit microf

Let me offer a simple solution: next time lego shouldn't gloat over which figure is "exclusive". Just don't announce that kind of crap anymore and the problem is solved, they'll be free to do what they want.

I wouldn’t buy Captain Rex almost any other way, that being said I’m disappointed with Lego for this reason as well as other reasons lately. I have spent a lot of money on particularly Lego Star Wars, but it’s becoming more and more important for me to remember corporations aren’t my friend.
