amazing! a short video that has all the steps and necessary information! i came to look for what type of paint to use and found out in the first 20 seconds, I appreciate that!:D
How did you make the box? Just subscribed to your channel so will check shortly if you already have a video of how to do that. Such a great, informative and quick video. Thanks so much!
I actually just put it back in the box it came in, but I have made custom boxes before. You can find templates online, edit them in photoshop and have them printed on thick card stock at Walgreens

Hi, your work is amazing! I have a question - how did you manage to get such a vibrant white color on the doll? Every time I use white acrylic paint, it ends up looking gray and not as bright and white as yours. Any tips or techniques you can share? Thanks in advance! 😊
Hey! Can you help me with some piece of advice? Is it possible to attach a bobblehead to a regular funko body? Or the other way around? (and sorry for my English I'm not a native)
Hey there! It’s technically possible but it’ll take some extra work. The neck of the bobble heads is a corkscrew so that the spring can be screwed onto it. You’ll need to find a way to make the neck of a normal Funko pop into a corkscrew by shaving away and adding plastic.
You could! A lot of people use pottery clay. that stuff has to be set in the oven though, so it can get a little dicey. I've jus t found that the apoxie sculpt was easier because it sets on its own.
You need one piece from each jar because it’s actually a 2 part chemical reaction. Mixing the 2 parts together is what makes the apoxie harden, if you only use one jar then it will never harden.
@@fernandoarmenta152 I used an art software called paint tool SAI, but the program doesn't matter. You could draw the blueprint on paper if you like! its just to give you an idea of where you're going.
It’s actually one of the boxes from one of the Funko pops. But you can find a template online and photoshop it to match your design. Once it looks the way you want it you can have it printed on card stock at your local Walgreens and cut it out with an exact knife. Just make sure you send them the correct size
So, I have a few questions.... Where did you get the Epoxy? I've been looking around and can't find that brand ANYWHERE. Also, is Folk Art a decent paint brand? An employee at Michaels suggested it to me, and I took that suggestion. I'm trying to get into custom figures and the like in general, and I figured custom Funkos would be a good a good start. Since the designs are more simplified, and they's mostly cheap.... Unless said Pop is out of print and then well.... Yeah.... Hopefully, this will go decently. I picked up a Funko that resembles an OC of mine. So, it won't take as much painting, since the hair, and skintone are already what I want. Oh, one more question. Is there some kind of brush on primer? If not.... I'll have to figure out a way to coat the eyes with primer with masking tape or something.
The epoxy is from Amazon. Here’s a link! Aves Apoxie Sculpt Clay - a.co/d/iXFq0Lv Folk Art is a solid paint brand, I’ve used a lot of their paint for projects like this. They do make paint on primer, here’s a link to some on Amazon! The Army Painter Brush-On Grey Primer - 18ml a.co/d/ga71hMS
For the drawing you don’t need it to be digital, he said it’s just a blueprint to get an idea of what you want your funko pop to look like. If you’re having trouble drawing, get inspiration by looking at the character you want to change into a funko pop and other funko pops themselves :)
Yeah some of them are easier to remove than others. If you can’t get the ring off you can always get the body back on by dipping the neck in boiling water and pushing it back in
The primer just helps the paint stick to the Funko pop. It also makes the paint a little brighter in my opinion, but if it's working for you keep doing your thing!
I use a spray-on primer before painting and I haven't had an issue. Also, make sure you are buying nice paints. something in the $2-$4 per color range. Those 80 cent paints don't work very well in my experience.
No worries! You can put it back onto the body by dunking the bottom of the head in boiling water. This will soften the ring up enough so you can put the body back on! (Just watch your fingers!)
This is the best and most information dense tutorial I’ve seen on the process so far! Thank you!
Thanks so much!

Great tutorial! I love the custom!
Glad you like it!
I’m planning on making my own custom “Neil Cicierega” FunkoPop, one of him and his cat Maui, and then his Spirit Phone Album One.
Rip these pops. 😭 Now they’re both super expensive.

how to make a custom funko pop

Step3:wait in line

That works too, but that line is no joke! I had to wait in line a few hours before they opened just to get a spot.
Wich brand did you use for the skin tone paint

can i use normal clay? (air dry) or do I need the apoxie sculpt?

why do you need a piece of epoxi from each jar? Can't you use a piece (or 2) from just one jar?

Are the hats/helmets on baseball or football players removable or are they part of the head?
If a Funko pop has a hat, helmet, or mask of any kind they are definitely part of the head
I just customize 2 pops I tried to tag you but I couldn’t find you on IG.
I'm Mr.Peege on IG, I'd love to see how they turned out!
I haven’t been putting primer on mine. 😬 is that bad?

If you wanna take shoes off a funko pop do you dip the feet in boiling water too ?
Yup! It softenes the plastic so it's easier to shave the shoes off with a knife or some sand paper
