This video hits home man. Last year 2024 due to a series of unforeseen circumstances i was caught alone 3 weeks in the Philippines, which gave me a unique chance to explore the country on my own terms. Never had i done solo travelling, not to a different continent other than Europe anyway. It was quite an experience, a fulfilling one, to say the least. My days were all just like this one, walking around getting rides, finding place to eat ,exploring every corner of each place i was staiyng in. When doing it i was always thinking of travel vloggers and travellers just like yourself, who do it all the time. I thought about my own dad, who did this in his youth, much younger than me when he did it. A video like this really captures the essence of solo travelling. What a life. Travelling on your own is deffinetly not the same as with a partner, i found it empowering and most certainly do not regret it. Will do it again for sure.
HI, GABE! Traveling is not just about visiting new places, it requires a unique courage to step out of one’s comfort zone. Each time you pack your bags and set off on a new journey, you are embracing uncertainty and the unknown. You venture into unfamiliar territories, navigate through different cultures, and engage with people whose lives may be vastly different from your own. Gabe, your unique energy as you approach life with such a genuine curiosity and eagerness to discover the unknown is something that we deeply admire. My twin sister and I with our shared passion for travel, we’ve learned that there’s really no map that can guide you to the most fulfilling experiences, those are discovered through curiosity, patience, and an open heart. We hope that you had a great time exploring Cebu as much as we enjoyed watching your video. Wishing you more adventures, exciting and new experiences to come in the future!

Josephine and Jocelyn

I have been enjoying your vides for year now. Thanks!
So happy to see you in The Philippines. You motivate me to make the effort to get there before kicking the bucket.
The legend is back! Let's GO! 👍
FUN FACT: The Battle of Mactan was a fierce clash fought in the Philippines on 27 April 1521. The warriors of Lapu-Lapu, one of the Datus of Mactan, overpowered and defeated a Spanish force fighting for Rajah Humabon of Cebu under the command of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who was killed in the battle. The outcome of the battle resulted in the temporary departure of the Spanish crew from the archipelago.
There are more than 7000 islands there, and they happened to clash on Mactan?
@@tombuddy100 Yes! That's why Christianity in the Philippines started in Cebu. The Spaniards brought it.
@@carolynboston9715thank God
I wasn’t crazy about North New Zealand but stayed with you. Philippines look interesting. Love and support your channel always.
Gabriel, being married to a filipina for ten years now and having visited many of the islands in the Philippines and also being disappointed with Mactan we will also be going to Siargao in August. Some recommendations: beautiful volcanic Camiguin Island and ferry to Bohol, check out the Honeycomb Inn on the foreshore at Dumaguete to go to several interesting locations in the area. Ferries from there to Siquijor Island also worth it. Legaspi to access magnificent Mt Mayon volcano shaped like Mt Fuji. You can get quad bikes there. Sagada and Banaue are Bataad for hikes in the rice terraces. And of course so much more. Looking forward to seeing how you will enjoy Cloud Nine and the beach environment on Siargao Island.
@@MVTXignorant comment. He married a Filipina, how does that information imply that he was a s*xpat?
Sounds absolutely stunning and beauty of it seems to be that there s affordable buses etc everywhere, always a hurdlefor me as a budget traveller thanks so much for your insight.
I'm so happy to visit the Philippines with you. I hope you visit several of the islands. Thank you for taking me along. 😊
Hello Gabriel,
You're so unpredictable...
happy to to see you in the Philippines and travel with you in that part of the world !
Enjoy the sun, beaches , the special vibe and stay safe !
Yes enjoy every moment. Wondering how can get longer than 1 month visa to justify the v. costly ticket. Do you always have to show an onward ticket. I loathe that as no spontaneity!!!
Thank You Gabriel the Philippines is so Beautiful 🙂💙👍this will be an Awesome Adventure👍
hi! Gab, sounds good your here in the Philippines. Welcome back 🤗 enjoy your vacation in Cebu City.
Wow I think the Philippines is going to be interesting. Enjoyed your “in the moment” tour of Mactan. Great apartment and the meal at the end looked delicious. Shame there was no beef!!! I’m sure there are beaches hiding somewhere. Looking forward to seeing more.❤
Was there 21 years ago for 2 weeks! Manila, Cebu/Tagbilaran-City, Bohol. This is one of the rare places I'd deffinietly go back. Lovely people modern well organised cities & amazing landscape. 🌴🥥🥭🫠
Welcome to the Philippines Gabe! I love your raw and authentic reactions on the vlogs. I have been following your adventures for many years and I’m glad you took sometime to checkout Cebu. G.O.A.T. 🇺🇸
Love the regular life videos the most!😊
Been 5 times now in the Philippines over a time period of 32 years ( first time 1993 ) , love it there, part of the family lives there !
Ah the Philippines. One of my favourite places on earth. You can jump on a bus and go north to Bantayan Island. A good adventure
Great idea, Bantayan is amazing! Just came back from there a couple of weeks ago.
Just back from Bantayan since a few days ago. Go now before the high rise hotels will be built. Already one on the way

The island of Mactan - It is the place where the head of a Spanish Conquistador was slain by a local tribe headed by Lapu-Lapu. Welcome! Enjoy your adventure!
That was a horrific murder
He was captured and convicted fairly
Who knows how Fernando de Magellan really died....in my opinion a horrific murder ..like so many in our worlds history...

The OG. Welcome back to Asia! Just commenting for reach.
Really looking forward to your adventure. 👍
when I first arrived to that airport I took a bus to Cebu (much cheaper than taxis) and stayed at the Radisson Blu hotel which is near the bus station.
It would have cost you about $5 by taxi to get to your 5 star hotel.
Always wanted to go to the Philippines. I hear they have amazing untouched beaches. I hope you have a change to go to some.
Flying into Cebu & exploring the Visayas 4000 islands in any direction is always a great time.
Enjoy The Visayas Bro
Mactan Island - has population of 600,000+ (there 2 municiplaities Lapu-Lpau City and Cordova )
it is part of Greater Cebu City ( Mterolopolitan Cebu ) has a popualtion of 3million+
Cebu Province ( the whole island of Cebu) has a population of 5 million+ it is one of the monst densely populated islands of the world
Good to see you in the amazing Philippines. I just came back from there a couple of weeks ago. Explore Cebu (south & north) and the surrounding islands (eg. Bantayan, Bohol), they 're awesome.
My friend Gabriel if you plan on visiting Siquijor, it is very beautiful. There is an underground river in Palawan, it is known world wide! Well worth visiting if not in your already plans! Gabriel, malls in The Philippines are not regular and like the rest of the lot.
Stores there are different than in America.
I urge snooping around to learn the ropes.
You might uncover a secret treasure.
Getting on and off public transports in countries such as the Philippines can be CHAOTIC.

I'm surprised Gabe has not gone to the Malaysian islands, truly amazing experience on low budget without the disturbing hustle by the locals selling you stuffs non stop like in Thailand or the Philippine's islands.

You should head down to Cebu City then, in I.T. Park or Cebu Business Park in Ayala area.

Welcome back to the Philippines! I've been watching your vlogs for a long time. I can recommend Southern Cebu if you would like to see more of nature. Aside from Mactan Shrine, I can also recommend visiting Simala Shrine in Sibonga, Cebu (Please take note this is not an ordinary shrine). Some other cities worth visiting for culture and food is Iloilo City and Baguio City.

Hey Gabe, what you explained in the beginning is exactly what makes you the best travel vlogger.
Yea Gabe definitely the best and modest with it.. lives life...
Thank you very much sir Gabriel for visiting our country Philippines. Love you❤❤❤.
South Cebu Island is the main attraction, that's where you need to research.
IT PARK Night Market for food.
You can go to the beaches of the resorts in Mactan Island, you can have lunch or dinner there and use the beach.
The best beaches are to the south or north of Cebu if you have time to explore. Best to rent a car.
With your style of travel, Dumaguete is the best place to go to. Then go on a ferry to Iloilo, go to Guimaras island
Siargao is great, finding petrol/gasoline can be spotty though. Have fun, be safe.
I notice a lot of signs in the market are in English. Is it that way throughout the Philippines?
Yes, English is very commonly spoken here.
My friend is in Cebu right now. It is his 2nd time but I have never been to the Phillippines.
Hey Brotherman, welcome home!! The smaller vehicles are called pedicabs. Message sent. Cheers!
Pedicabs, good to know. Great to be back in the Phils, maybe see you around. ✌️🍺
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Would love to see you again and show you around. I know this place a little more than I knew Ephesus ha!
Long time watcher first time commenting. I missed you in Banff by a few days but just arrived in Cebu 6 days ago...not stalking you LOL. I am impressed how you seem so comfortable in the areas of obvious poverty and sticking out like the proverbial sore thumb with your go pro. Have you, or do you read the travel advisories given by the US or Canadian Governments before you travel? When I arrived in Cebu at night and caught a Grab to my hotel I must admit I was not as relaxed as you seemed to be in your video. Unfortunately it seems like the really interesting and non touristy places may be in the south of phillipines (mindanao province etc.). Heading to Borocay then perhaps Vietnam via Singapore and then perhaps Cambodia. Safe Travels and keep those videos coming.
Gabriel! I am in Cebu city too!
My 16th time here since 2005 😀😀😀
Wow, very cool. I was going to go today, but decided to have a relaxing day today on Mactan at one of the resort beaches.
@GabrielTravelerVideos Good choice.I am in downtown Cebu city right now. Stay in uptown. For some reason I have never stayed on Mactan. Fun fact. Last time I was in the Philippines in 2018, the population was 105 million. Now it is 120 million 😅😅😅
Stayed way too manydays in Cebu city this time. Did my visa extension here yesterday. Took 6 hours.
If you want a nice beach day, Shangri-La has a good beach and pools, it's 2,000 pesos for the day, I'll show it in the next video. So where are you going next?
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Hello. I flew up to Clark. My last days here now in the Philippines. I started the Philippines adventure in Legazpi after spending 3 full days in Beijing (did a full day great wall trip and it was amazing, A four hour hike on the wall).
After that a few days in Catanduanes, which was really beautiful. I have been around most of the Philippines now after my 16 visits here. It is basically only mountain province in Luzon, Sulu archipelago and Zamboanga del sur left now. For now just chill and recharge batteries for going back to work again. Hope to retire in the near future to get unlimited time for travel :-)

Gabriel when you got more time or for next, you should look into visiting Camiguin Island, the world's most volcanic island (7 volcanoes) in one tiny island in Mindanao south of Philippines, there are flights to the island from Cebu and even from Manila by now. Camiguin Island is very local, few tourists and basic amenities but possesses incredible natural wonders and the island definitely is inexpensive and so laid back. Camiguin has gained an endearment as the Tahiti of the Philippines. Enjoy your Philippine return trip.
Good tip, I'll think about it.
Camiguin, Siargao, Siquijor, Bantayan are all great choices. Just been to Catanduanes and it was magical.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos if you go to Csmiguan you can go to Bohol first, then take ferry to Camiguan
Reading the travel advisories for Phillipines makes me a bit nervous...I just arrived a few days ago and am trying to stay away from the southern islands in the Mindanao regions for example....is there anything to these warnings/advisories?

Gabriel, the only ‘fast food’ I go to in the country is called Mang Inasal. You will not be disappointed and there are locations in Cebu :)
The only food I eat in the Pilipinos is called McDonald’s, they have one on every block, thank god!

You should visit Angasil Port. It was interesting walking through the village on the way to Angasil Port.
Nice to see you in the Philippines! Been here for two and a half weeks! When in SE Asia, I really stay away from beef and any processed meats! I've been burned too many times. I try to stick with chicken and pork, and fast food burgers are ok too!😂 Also jollybees spicy chicken is the best!
I just arrived a few days ago and have seen the warnings at the airport for african swine flu...I think chicken or going veg. might be the safest option.
Green Apple dental has the best cleaning on our planet earth; located at Lapu Lapu city and at the lower inner courtyard of Ayala Terraces shopping mall.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think they are out phasing the Jeepneys in major cities and replacing them with those new vehicles. Anyway, exiting to see fresh vids from the Php. Safe travels!
Cebu is 1 step better then mactan. I'm not a mall person but if you're around Alaya mall, (nicer area) there's a large open-air courtyard (park in the middle) that's like incredibly nice.
I'm looking forward to seeing your travels in the Phillipines

I been going there since 1980s I know most places and have tons of pinoy friends!! I know we're Ur very well mactan cebu
Random question but curious to know what was the item on the plate that they gave you instead of beef at that last restaurant?
It was beef litid which is beef tendon.
Yeah nice one some cool content..and affordable not like rip off New Zealand ..
The malls are doing really well there.
In many parts of the world the concept of malls is still relatively new. Asia and Eastern Europe
The menu said "Sizzling Beef Litid." Litid is tendon in English. So you ordered Sizzling Beef Tendon which is what was served. That seems more like an appetizer than a main course.
I see, very strange. Nothing in it even seemed like meat. There was something white and slimy, I guess that was the tendon. Now I know not to order that one again.
❤❤❤❤❤
More food, more you!
Pan de coco is also de-lish.
See if you can munch on it.
Coconut bread is crave-able.

Nearly every place I have been, I found the local food to be good. I have not been to Philippines, but have been to filipino parties with home made food, not trying to be negative, but it was the blandest and rubbery textured food I have had in terms of ethnic foods. Rarely do I come across food I will pass on, but I did at the second party.
