Gee, I wonder why this game never got a western release...?
"it's dark on both sides" --I was expecting it to only be dark on half though...
Each side has a dark half, so maybe it should be called Dark 1/4ths?
'the villain battle suck because you need to bail out you idiot allies'. Sounds legit. Thats how all bad guys in every anime is like.
I just like watching your vids because I appreciate the effort you put into them and I like the enthusiasm you have. A fellow 90s kid I also grew up playing similar games but I don't play them anymore, these vids are enough to satisfy my nostalgia.
Thanks for taking the time to watch
SNES Drunk, you've ruined other RUclips reviews for me!! All other video go waaaay too long or in-depth with their reviews. You pack everything relevant and important about a game within 3-6 mins. Keep it up!!
On a side note, do you think Kirk Cousins is getting overpaid??
Thanks, that's the idea
Cousins is way overpaid, I don't like giving up 20%+ of your cap space for a guy that's not even considered top 10 at his position
Yeah I felt the same way. I'm a Pack fan but I gotta give you guys credit for at least chasing free agents and willing to spend. We get Jimmy Graham (who's still good but not, great) yet don't do anything about our secondary or D-line. Stop being cheap!!
Yeah, this is what I always wanted from yt game reviews. Turbo Views also great btw.
Eventually one of these videos will just be SNNnnNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNn for the whole duration.
Druida if he'd do that for april fool's I'm down
You, my friend, are a damn prophet.
And here is proof:

@@grammaticalrouge29 new ring tone.
We can only hope
There was one. He did a "is this game worth playing" episode. I don't remember what the game was, but it was 2 minutes of Snnnnnnnnneeeeeeeesssssssss drunk, and then he just says no. It was hilarious
I'd love to see this idea expanded upon in a modern game.
Code Geass or Death Note would be really interesting concepts for a game like this.
Overlord 2 is a fun game if you want to play as cartoonishly evil type character.
@@TheLastPhoen1x I want games like Overlord to return. Although I started and played mostly nes games but games during gamecube DC and PS3 and xbox era were insanely fun. After this era the games started getting a bit too complicated for me although I played and enjoyed those as well but I still want the games from that time period remade
Not exactly "modern", but there is the PS2 game "Arc - Twilight of the Spirits" that also does the "Split between Good & Evil Party Side" :)
Dark Half has an interesting concept, as you alternate between having the hero and the archvillain's control. It's a gothic T-rpg with a stifling atmosphere, on the contrary of the so many 16-bits jrpg looking so vibrant. That said apart, I can understand that it's not for everyone, as counting your steps and organize your journey ahead to spare your power could prove a tedious task. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who like to take their time to wander around the world and explore, completing side quests.
It's an Enix game with a tight scenario.
Oh and fun fact: I have the treasure find music as a closing theme for Windows, btw =p
Another game which used this concept and is one of the best jrpgs of all time...is BOFIV.
"Here to claim my soul? Just make it painless." If ever there were a game more suited to 2020...
Wow you get to play the bad guy going through towns and slaughtering children and elderly ! Thats hardcore for a 16 bit game.
I actually might give this one a shot. The thought of playing as an evil dickbag seems awesome.
Gabe Mewell same..btw dude i see u every video i watch on the replies..we got same taste im games. 👍
Preach it.
Greetings Earthlings! 👋👽 I bring thin crust pizza for everyone! Enjoy! 🍕
Yayyyy! What a cool alien! :D
I kinda wanna know what happens in the end, as I don't wanna play this game (the thought of my teammates being AI and I have to bail them out enrages me just hearing about it).. but like u said, it's interesting enough to want to know how it ends... do you play as both sides somehow? Do you have to choose a side? Are there 2 endings depending on whom you choose?.... spoilers anyone... spoiler PAGE anyone?
Sounds like it has similarities to Shin Megami Tensei
It looks like a better version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde for NES. I know that's not saying much but still.
Love how your vids are not 10-20 minutes of filler and BS. High quality short vids. I love it. Oh and the Sn-eeeeees DRUNK! part :)
Thanks, that's the idea
"It's dark with both sides, which is something i wasn't expecting"
Dark *Half*
No wonder you weren't, i wouldn't too XD
You lost me at game over if you take too many steps. Thats the kind of restriction that makes me not even want to touch the game.
Its not that bad, trust me.
I played the game, the amount of steps you get is rather generous
You didn't wish me a great rest of my day! 😢
"Geez, I wonder why a guy so evil and crazy is surrounded by incompetents."
You just described your typical Saturday morning cartoon villain there xD.
I actually have this for super famicom, i would play it if i could read it
You can modify your cartridge and change the ROM. I have a lot of Super Famicom games with fan translations on them.
ROCK ME AMADEUS!
HELP ME DR ZAIUS!
Can I play the pi-a-no any-more?
Of course you can!
Well I couldn't before!
Bloodhound gang haha
These games are a gold mine for companies with enough funds to either remake them or just "borrow" some concept ideas.
i liked the graphics and art. I thought the super saturated colors popped. It's cliche to say, but really, SNES pixel art gets better with age unlike what came before or after.
Oh thank God you did one for Dark Half. I kept looking for a decent review of it online. Thank you!
Hey I liked a couple of the organ tracks, so this video is completely wrong and I hereby thumb it down... !
The town theme is in my "relaxing SNES music" playlist
Just started playing this and it's a trip and a half. Had it come out in the west when I was a kid, I would've been obsessed with it. More people need to check this game out.
This looks awesome! Which I would have come across it when I was in middle or high school!
Another game I didn't have until now. :)
Thanks for the video!
1:55 "You either die a hero...or you play long enough to see yourself become the villain."
Your videos really urge me to stop being a workaholic and to play video games again. I miss my SNES.
A like and comment, great content as always!
Eu tenho esse jogo e até tentei jgoar, mas ele é bem peculiar e tem sua própria personalidade! Eu adorei, porém, preciso de mais temop para lidar :)))))
Rock me, Amadeus.
How interesting.
16-bit RPGs are awesome, and this one looks a little neater than the usual fare. Is that step meter really restrictive or do you have plenty of opportunities to replenish it?
You have opportunities to replenish but some of the puzzles can make it a bit troublesome to manage
Hmmm that's not awful I suppose. I don't enjoy games that can become unwinnable in a non-obvious way (i.e. the bridge that breaks forever in King's Quest 3 if you walk on it too many times). I feel like I could deal with a countdown much better than something like that. Thanks for your help :)
There are two translation patches for Dark Half. The first patch (the unfinished one) was made before Aeon Genesis decided to retanslate the game from scratch. I started playing this game when the AGTP translation patch came out. (I am playing this game now btw)
"We gonna drop this next bomb for a money makin' playa that ain't with us no mo.
Yeah, Notorious B.I.G.
Hell no, we gonna do this for a gangbanging thug that never seen it comin'.
Yeah, Tupac Shakur.
Nah bitch, I'm talkin' 'bout motherfuckin' Falco and shit.
What? Falco?.. "
"Geez no wonder this guy is so evil and crazy he's surrounded by incompetence" 😂😂😂
Think about all the bad guys you've seen in movies before. Most are forgettable but ocasasionally a movie creates a truely evil antagonist that sticks out among the rest. This game went from having one of those unique, memorable villains to just mid and boring.
Before the game was 100% translated there was a unfinished version out in the wild done by a different translator. The "villain" in unfinished translation had this dark triad school shooter psychopath atmosphere to his dialog that the 100% version doesn't. Hopefully a translation comes out someday that has the best of both translations
Holy hell this looks amazing!!!
Awesome vid , could some one please spell out the 3rd game which snes drunk mentions ?????????????????????
I can't there's an RPG where you get to play as the singer of Der Kommissar - oh, never mind then.
Hello. Wouldn't mind if you completed the chrono trigger playthrough. Understand if you're 'done' though, but I was enjoying it.
Also wouldn't mind if you did an SD3 playthrough too. :)
But you know, do what you want to do.
Love your videos and all that.
CT playthrough will get finished, I just haven't had time and I've had a nagging viral sinus thing that's lasted months
What was the nintendo rpg that had the evil lookin goblins in Santa hats, turn based I think. 92ish?
is it 100% english normally? or patched?
One of the first Super Fami games I ever got.
2:05 actually made me a little nauseous. not the consumption part, but the choice
Lord of hell _and_ top linebacker prospect for the NFL.
This one is interesting, I love Energy Breaker btw
Is their an English version of this game?
I randomly picked this up a while back. This is the only time I've ever heard anyone mention it. I never got that far. Looks like it's time to bust it out again...
game doesnt have a wiki for some reason
I'm waiting to stream this. It's gonna be a lot of fun! The idea of switching between the villain and hero certainly makes it a curiosity at first, but the fact that they are linked via a soul meter means you can't be stingy on either character.
I think at least three people on this comments thread agree that Rock Me Amadeus should have been the attack of that Falco instead of whatever loser Falco we got
Falco casts, "Vienna Calling"
The manual states his class as "Der Kommissar"
I remember trying to play this but the translation was still far from done, but it seemed like a good game, which was a shame. Unfortunately nowadays I have no patience for turn-based JRPGs...
I admire your patience to play games that you may not even enjoy very much but you do for the sake of the channel. I don't know if I could do that, especially time consuming rpgs (that aren't good, I do love rpgs generally though).
Found a random SNES title that looks like one you would like to check out and do a video on....Realm....have a good day.
How about thanking the person who made being able to play this in English possible? Aeon Genesis (agtp). Please credit him too.
Tiny Heads: The Game
What a cool name for a video game.
There are 4 different endings to this game, according to some memories you collect, apparently.
"It gets dark on both sides"
Shoulda called it Dark Full then, bit o' false advertising on that one
What? No super robot wars? You play snes games including imports but no super robot wars? C'mon man.
Settle down, I haven't gotten to that series yet, there's only about 1000+ SNES/SFC games to get to.
SNES drunk ok. I'll just wait here in the corner.
And when you think you know almost every SNES title... boom, this pops up. Great job as always.
What's the game at 0:20 ?
Majyuuou
congrats on over 50k...god damn u deserve a million !!! thanx 4 doen what u do :)
The good old days when a game let you suck the souls from children.
That is a gin and tonic game if I ever saw one, not sure what that means, but it's what I thought.
Which game his the one mentioned at the beginning of the video with the giant eyeball?
Neat. Never heard of this one! Thanks for the info 👍🏻
thanks for the review
That looks gorgeous. I wish there were more isometric non-stragegy rpgs
Your intro is the best. Don't change a damn thing.
so its dark souls for SNES
Never heard of this, but I am severely interested now. Great review.
2:28 "Zagato and Calibra" ripping off car names much? Yes, I know that this was done by CLAMP's Rayehart too (I'm not sure about who did it first, probably CLAMP though).
Well it beats Civic and Landrover
I see Snes Drunk i click...simple.
Next up on the road to 100K subs
wow I've never heard even a whisper of this game
Die ganze Welt dreht sich um mich
Denn ich bin nur ein Egoist
Der Mensch, der mir am nächsten ist
Bin ich, ich bin ein Egoist
Falco 1998
This is a review I never knew I wanted
I really enjoy your videos. Thank You
Dat ain't falco
great video. keep it up. think we'll eventually see videos for newer but still old systems in the eventual future? its always nice to have these looks back that analyze these games for what they are and less for what they weren't in context of the current times. when games first come out theyre mercilessly compared to everything releasing around the same time, but once we're past that time it help us better look at the game as it deserves.
TG16 video next week
Fuck yes!
SNESdrunk show us your game room
It's pretty boring

You're comment about Mike was spot on i do research too and Mike was wrong about that, I never was a fan of mike to begin with but he helped James out with his Angry Nerd videos so i sorta respect him in that regard . keep up the good work man love your videos short sweet to the point and learning new things about the system i love aside from the NES .
SNES drunk I like it, controlled
Need more games & more beer
that ain't Falco
do you get to control both sides during the final battle? that would rule
No, you have to pick one or the other
I can't find a video on best Super Famicon games that are English friendly. Can you make one or send me a link for one if you've made one?
ruclips.net/video/AjmwE-fHd0Q/видео.html
@@SNESdrunk
I was thinking of a more narrow list. The SNES mini only has enough room for 233 games and I have six or seven not English friendly. Games like Super Fire Pro Wrestling is okay but Clock Tower not so much, though an absolutely great game. Even Mickey & Donald Magical Adventure 3 is a fine game to have on it but the one's that rely on story I'd like to replace
nutsaCK2
Nice video
What's the game's explanation for the soul meter?
If i dont remember wrong the bad guy is a resurrected demon so his soul meter is the magic energy that keep him alive. The explanation for the hero...i cant remember either they dont even bother to give an explanation or is a very poor one
is this the Dark Souls of Super Nintendo?
Rod Gustke the plot could have inspired From software, especially in Demon's Souls, where at the end you can choose to be a "good" or a bad guy.
Would you review actraiser 2? have very fond memories of this game even though it was hard as shit.
I did years ago ruclips.net/video/k2EUbwVyJGY/видео.html
SNES drunk yea I just found your channel and did not get to go through all the vids and found came to delete the comment xD
Looks like a fun game
I like...
Beautiful :' )
Too bad that for the Western audience to be able to properly play those games, we have no choice but to sail the Seven Seas.
This game is ridiculously bad. And the Soul Meter is the biggest issue by being draining your life force while simply walking/progressing through the game world.
Combined with the ridiculous amount of Traps that will reset your progress, and many of them are random if i remember correctly.
That means, not even mapping out the game world on paper won't help much.
And even if you figure out where the traps are, because they are invisible and the fact that you need pin point accuracy to walk by that trap to not trigger it. Or to hit the right "invisible" teleporter.
You just lose tons and tons of Soul/Life Energy big time. And battles are a lost cause as well. Because you can't use battles to replenish the amount of Life as it should be possible. But instead, you lose even more during those battles...
I have no idea how this game can be beaten. I played it Emulated with save states. And even doing things "perfectly", death is inevitable!
On paper, many things they do and try in this game sound good. Even inventive. But the execution could not be any worse!! Just the level design alone, is outright horrible and destroys this game.
