I would like to see an "unsung heros of the garage gym" video; stuff like the chair you have over next to the ronin, maybe signs or clocks, power outlets, tables, storage to make the garage functional as both a gym and a garage, the seemingly mundane stuff that might be overlooked when planing or building a gym. For instance something in my gym that has had a lot of value is my double cell cellular shades. they get the sun out of my eyes in the morning, they block out or in light and give me that garage cave feel(or help me forget its 4 in the morning) plus they add some additional r value to the windows.
Absolutely in love with your home gym but also absolutely opposite of what I personally want. There's a certain beauty and intent with minimalist gym (squat rack, barbell, weights, and gymnastic rings)
I have a rack and bar at home. I've also got a recumbent bike, adjustable bench, asst. DBs up to 40lbs, resistance bands, an ab wheel, the wife has a treadmill. A few other small things. It's not quite enough. I mean it's adequate. I could go my whole life never buying another piece as long as the pins or j-cups didn't wear out. But I do wish I had - #1- a rowing machine or maybe assault bike And #2(most importantly) a way to isolate quads and hammies. You can do so much shit with just a rack and bar setup, but you'll absolutely never roast your hammies the way you could if you had a way to isolate them. Yes there are ways to hit them but compound movements = high systemic fatigue and generally low isolation. I just want to roast my hammies without deadlifts, some other variation or BW exercises. Narrow stance squats hit the quads real well and lunges are great for glutes but again the fatigue. If you have a home gym and you like working out, then not being wrecked matters because sometimes you just get bored and want to workout
Please do a video on how you attached the 3x3 upright to your feemotion functional trainer. That is an awesome idea. Want to know how you did the supports. Did you add support to the back also?
it's really cool how much stuff you can fit into one gym. Though if/when I get to build my own gym I think I'd focus on getting the least amount of things to o the most with.
Thats the initial goal but eventuallly you get tired of setting up different exercise like in a power rack and start to buy dedicated machines for certain exercises. It sucks being in the groove to have to spend 5 minutes having to move safety straps, j cups, weights and the barbell around just to do a different exercise.
Coop seems to really be going after the nordic theme here lately. He actually mentioned it twice in this video. Has he noticed a lot of improvement in his knees or ankles? Curious as to what is currently driving his motivation to focus on this exercise. Great video :)
Since doing nordics, I've been able to jump higher (tested) and feel more stable in every movement. My knees also no longer have pain, although it was only at certain times previously. I also have a current goal of doing an unassisted slow down, explosive up nordic curl and I think I'll be able to do it in a few weeks when I test. I'm getting close. Big believer in the movement.
@@GarageGymReviews oh wow, thank you for the quick reply and real life testimony of it’s effectiveness. Wishing you success and definitely want to see it happen. Maybe even a montage of the beginnings of you doing it and along the way. Good luck!
Coop, please, could you explain in detail how did you attach the strip to the FreeMotion? Many have already asked and you told about that “future” video… please 🙏🏼
Can you blog a “how to” mount the upright to free motion:Which upright you used? was it mounted off center? My free motion has a bracket in the center of the weight stacks.
Hey coop, ever think of doing a video of how to lay out a garage gym, maybe a sketch with measurements? I’m setting one up and can’t figure out which way to orient rack etc.
Good evening sir, I was wondering about your Eleiko Gym Flooring, on the website the measurements are as follows 12mm x 4.74 x 4.74 the cost is $5 per quad Blok. Assuming that's 1/2 inch x 4.74 inches x 4.74 inches. Your flooring books seems to be larger than that unless the seams are extremely camouflaged. With those configurations, each total 4 bloke assembly would be 9.48 x 9.48 ? Please enlighten me, thank-you sir. I am building a garage gym comparing what my best option would be betwixt horse stall mats and Eleiko bloks.
Interested to know why you have two open trap bars on hand and if you're going to eventually compare them to the Prime Fitness Trap Bar. Would love to watch that review
@Woodworkx22 Considering he is constantly reviewing products, it is a valid question. How often does he use his personal equipment, most of which he got for free for reviews.
I grew up with a guy who started lifting weights going at it pretty hard and after a couple years made great progress but you wouldn’t ever know looking at him. Certain people don’t put on muscle like other people but still get stronger. He looks like he’s in great health and has endless energy.

Hey coop, So I pre-ordered the Rep Fitness Ares Cable system, and I was just wondering if these rack ecosystems are something you like. I know that other companies are making power racks with functional trainers built in. But I bought the Ares (1) because I already have the PR5000 V2. And (2) because it offers a lat pull down as well as a row with the plate. Are you planning in reviewing the Ares cable system? I’m excited to get it in august.
Coop, what kind of drill & bit are using to make holes in your machines? I have a TSS 3x3 6 post rack. The problem is they only put holes on the front & back of their posts and I’m not a fan of the hole spacing either. Thanks
