I was driving a Boston cab during this time to pay for college. Drove 4 days, 12 hours a day with full time school for 3 days. I ran into Italian mob, Irish mob, coke dealers, crack dealers and prescription runners. No one told you what they were doing you just figured it out by where you picked them up, dropped them off and how they talked in the cab.

This was when crime in Boston was at its highest, but it was the 60s when it increased the most, by far. There was 4 times the rate of violent crime in Boston in 1970 as compared to 1960.
OMG I actually remember this when I was about 10 yrs old on TV… god damn im old as Fk lol. It turns out that Carol Stuart (pregnant woman they mentioned) was actually murdered by her husband Charles who lied and said it was some black dude! Boston was an interesting place back then 🤣
I said "I bet that'a a life insurance scam." to a friend talking about the Charles Stuart story when they put his dying wife on the front page of The Boston Herald the next day. Turned out I was right.

Yeah, you notice when it came to that story about the child's student. No one spoke candidly about him killing his own wife. They just sort of blend out
The drugs, guns and violence in Boston during this time was 90% minority. Because people felt it was more important to ignore this fact, the problem was dealt with very, very slowly.

What's a prescription runner?
Much more valuable education then having parents pay for it all.

I wish we could go back to those times but without all the crime.
Those areas are still rough parts of Boston but have definitely improved
Improved a whole lot it was guerilla warfare back then still violent at times
Its obviously still a problem that shouldnt be ignored but overall crime in boston is almost non existant compared to what it used to be
