Can I just say how cool it is to have watched James, then James and Millie, then James, Millie and Mom? Then James, Millie, Archie, Mom and then all in the US? Years of watching you grow randomly on RUclips. It's been a joy to see the family grow. Loved seeing your US food journey, but yes, Terry Blacks is the Pearly Gates of BBQ. I'd love to see y'all in Louisiana.
Y'all should do a tiered list for different categories like top 3 fav fast food, bbq, seafood, breakfast, drinks etc. Loving the new content. You've both come a long way and seem so natural these days! Love it and love y'all!!
I have noticed most foreigners think all American food is fast food. Try pies and cakes, our desserts are very notable. Try a Chinese restaurant, it seems ours serve different dishes. Also try pizza and deli sandwiches.
Of all the foods I saw y'all try on your trip, I think my favorite reaction was when James tried the gumbo and actually discovered he didn't hate the taste of fish when it's done right. Fish can be so wonderful when don't right and so horrible when done wrong. So you just have to know who to trust to make it right.
A good Spanish rice is fantastic. Man, I haven't had that in a while... And so easy to make! 5 basic ingredients: rice, tomato sauce, chili powder, green peppers, bacon.
This is exactly how I expected the list to go. Everyone knew Terry Black's would be #1 because of the quality of the food and the fact that it isn't just good food, but it's also an experience. It's a vibe you can't get over in Jersey. Just like #2 is something you can't replicate because of the authenticity as well as the location. That setting is just top notch. And then of course there's the one I was actually most excited for you to put on your list to visit: Cracker Barrel. It may not be as unique as the other 2, but I really think that it's one of the best bang for your buck out there. The food is really good and the atmosphere is fantastic. It just has a homely feel to it rather than being at a restaurant. Plus there's always the gift shop which is a fun visit. Great choices for your list. Now do you dare make one of your least enjoyed places you visited?
James mom is still going to be doing reactions as well, right? We all love Millie, but it is nice to get a new reaction from a family member that is in a different age demographic. I am 46 years old, I don't know how 20 something year old's think or see stuff. Maybe you can cram 4 people into a reaction so you can include Millie's mom as well. Where to get smoked BBQ or close to Texas BBQ in the UK??? Just become good friends with Mr. H and get invited to try some of the good food he is smoking in his Franklin smoker.
Howdy from Texas. That's the biggest difference between American restaurants and U.K. restaurants, besides the food that is, is the difference in the level and quality of the service you receive from the Wait Staff in America where they are more motivated to give you a great experience because they want that larger tip that they depend on for their living. Contrasted with the level and quality of service that you might receive in a typical U K. restaurant where they are paid a living wage and don't need to rely on tips for their income. Therefore they lack that stronger motivation to give each customer the best experience that they are capable of providing to them. That's partly why service at American restaurants is typically much better.
I don't think it deserves a disclaimer regarding which of these 3 food experiences were the best. They are all 3 different foods. I don't go to a burger place for Tex Mex, and don't go to a deli for Texas BBQ, for example. An overall tier list is a good idea. Regarding your question about where to get Texas BBQ over there, apparently there are a few places, but the Hs' have a legit Franklin pit and are documenting their attempts recreating Texas BBQ (and lots of foods). It isn't a plug for their channel, but I think a great idea would be to get two or three small groups of UK folks that have been to the US and tried the food to meet up with the Hs' and try their recreation. It would be great content and you all will have had both, the US version and the British equivalent. I'm born and raised in Texas, and the Hs' food looks legit, and even looks like real BBQ. Glad to see Millie back, and glad all of you enjoyed your trip over here. Y'all come back anytime.
I was one of the ones who recommended Denny's for chicken fried steak and the comments section went bananas lol! That tickles me to know you guys liked Denny's. Just wish you could have tried Del Taco when you were here in So Cal. Oh and Ramona's Mexican Food Products' red beef and bean burritos! You guys would have been in heaven.
It would never occur to me to describe it as tasting like soap, but I can understand that viewpoint. It isn't that I dislike cilantro, but it is _extremely overpowering_ to me. One leaf is enough. Anything more than that, all I taste is cilantro, which by itself is pretty boring to me.
I came here in the middle of watching this video on European Reacts just to make that comment. Absolutely that is the problem Mexican food does not use chives but they use a LOT of cilantro. I have that gene and I'm sure she does as well.
There is at least one Mexican restaurant in every city and town in America...so no matter where you are in the states, you'll never be far from delicious Mexican food!
There are Texas style bbq in the uk, Jolly have been to two I think. Mr H and friends had two USA style bbq setups in his garden. Maybe you could contact him for a crossover video between you both.
I love the *"Dr Pepper is on point"* comment. I don't remember if it was DFW area Terry Blacks but if so, you can't get fresher Dr. Pepper since they are HQ'd there. Dr Pepper was for the longest time bottled in north central dallas on Mockingbird lane until their merger with 7up, now they are in Plano a suburb of Dallas but I think Pepsi might do the bottling nowadays.
Ask Mr & Mrs H. They've been to a BBQ place near them, but I don't remember where it was. There's also an American who has a BBQ place in London called Prairie Fire. Jolly went there and loved it.
I love Cracker Barrel! Good, fun food plus you get to go shopping! FWIW, my local Cracker Barrel is next door to - seriously - a Bass Pro Shop. WOOHOO!!
Quesadillas are actually easy to make and there are so many ways you can make them. I have made them in an air fryer, microwave, grill, and skillet. I prefer the skillet but as long as you have the proper ingredients they're easy to put together. I'm not sure how common tortillas are over there in Jersey but they are at pretty much any grocery store in America in various sizes. I'm also not sure what kinds of cheeses you guys have over there but at our groceries it's simple to find shredded cheese specifically for quesadillas and tacos but you can get by with just some cheddar and Colby Jack if you have it. Then of course you need some taco seasoning of some kind and whatever meat you want if you don't want plain cheese. I enjoy dipping mine in sour cream.
Millie & James - if you have your own outdoor space where you live, you might think about getting a smoker. You can get a decent one that isn't huge and won't break the bank - it will last for years and it will open up a whole new aspect of cooking for you (and the smell will drive your neighbors wild!). Start looking at popular Texas BBQ blogs & sites, and ask for suggestions about brands of smokers then see what fits your space & budget.
Loved watching your trip to USA. I feel like if you meet up with Mr. H and Friends, you could get some pretty dang close "Texas" style BBQ. They have been cooking up some really good looking meats for a bit.
Denny’s rocks. Sit there in a booth in the middle of the night, drinking limitless coffee and enjoying a slice of pie…FOR HOURS. (Yeah, tip extremely well.)
It's amazing how fast kids grow. It seems like you were pregnant a week ago. He's a happy little dude. I'm surprised at Cracker Barrel being in your top 3. I have never been too impressed with them tbh. It's just basic diner food to me.
3:37 Okay... You need to do a (Spanish) Mexican rice video, so I can make fun of how you make it. think of a $ amount to make this happen, I'm willing to pay... As long as it's not to high though. lol
Cracker barrel is not even 1 of the top 50 chain restaurants... their hashbrown casserole, and chicken fried steak is great tho. Their breakfasts are way better than their dinners & lunches.
You can find Tex Mex in every state. They are usually family run restaurants, not chains. Popeyes is terrible! I am with you on that. Dennys used to be good, it has really gone down hill. That’s probably why everyone says it’s bad, me included.
I was just watching you on European Reacts. The pork verde at the Mexican restaurant. You said something about chives in it. I know what you are talking about. The Devil's lettuce. The evil cilantro (fresh coriander.) Mexicans don't use chives in their food but they do use a LOT of cilantro. A certain percentage of us (me included) find cilantro tastes nasty. Terry Blacks isn't even on the 10 best list of Texas BBQ restaurants. You should have gone to Goldee's BBQ in Fort Worth, Texas. They are ranked #1 by Texas Monthly.

Can you imagine them trying the food in New Orleans?!?! They'd go crazy for it.
Food in Louisiana sucks compared to pretty much anywhere in California. OVERRATED
Do you really mean " Terry's Black?" I always laugh when James says that.
Next up: Louisiana Cajun and Creole cuisine IMO... So great!
Archie is so blessed to have two such loving parents.

I think you’re right , I kind of remember it ?

I'm glad you found food that you enjoyed. Your baby is really sweet.

I love Cracker Barrel. If you haven't tried the biscuits and gravy yet, please d8.
A good Spanish rice is fantastic. Man, I haven't had that in a while... And so easy to make! 5 basic ingredients: rice, tomato sauce, chili powder, green peppers, bacon.
Yeah, you need to go to the southern US! Louisiana, top tier food!
You guys need to try philly cheesesteaks and catfish and also go to Texas Roadhouse next time
Also James, I have your say I just love your Mom. She seems like such a sweetheart.
Texas BBQ in the UK is Spitfire in London. There is another I know of, but forgot the name.
Spitfire is in Bristol. The one in London was Prairie Fire, but it closed, sadly.
Tex Mex is the best!!!!! Great stuff y'all!!!!! Cheers from a Texan in Mississippi
How about top 3 for each meal. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessers. Including snacks and drinks! That would be cool.
We may not be an old country, but we have so much history in a short time and the greatest food choices in the world
Great video guys! We missed you Millie😊
I knew Terry Black's was going to be #1. I'm just impressed they've finally learned to say it correctly!
I still want to know Terry's black ____what___? 🤣
This is exactly how I expected the list to go. Everyone knew Terry Black's would be #1 because of the quality of the food and the fact that it isn't just good food, but it's also an experience. People who have a certain gene hate cilantro! I have it. It tastes like soap to me!
My wife and I eat at Denny’s all the time, it’s great.
Mr and Mrs H have found a couple texas-style BBQ places in the UK (e.g., Payne’s BBQ in Bristol). Check out their video reviews
' but any in Jersey ?
@@JRyan-dz4fd I think the Channel Island Cow Mafia prevent the establishment of any barbeque restaurants on Jersey and Guernsey. #ChIsCoMa
@@JRyan-dz4fd The UK is relatively tiny. They can drive.

Your top 3 are always a great choice! Nice to see Archie in top form…beautiful little man! Enjoy your weekend.
Ooooh i would love to have a tier list
I was wondering if the chives at Rita’s was cilantro. Many people think it tastes like soap. It is a genetic thing.
I came here in the middle of watching this video on European Reacts just to make that comment. Absolutely that is the problem Mexican food does not use chives but they use a LOT of cilantro. I have that gene and I'm sure she does as well.
You must try Goldie's BBQ if you like Terry Blacks, and try real southern Soul food to.

Over in London, there's Prairie Fire. An American opened a Kansas style BBQ restaurant there.
Out of business
Next time you visit Florida try and find a Puerto Rican restaurant you can not go wrong..
Mr. H is getting the bbq down pretty good it looks like. Maybe he can hook you up with some British/Texas Brisket and ribs.
