If you shoot a auto loader use brass shell only, not steel. Brass will expand about .004 to .006. A steel shell may expand .007 to .014, this may keep the shell from ejecting cleanly. Clean the gas ports with a 3/32" dia bit by hand.
Good presentation of the S&W 1000. It's 2020, I'm trying to find one of these in 20 gauge, and 20 ga autoloaders are mighty scarce this year! Beat up 40 year old Remington 1100s are going for $800 to $1000 right now.
I love my older shotguns but have retired them all as they won't cycle light target loads they all want full power hunting loads, I'd look for a Benelli montefeltro in 20 I bet you could find one. $1,000
I got mine back in the early 70's and it has a modified chock. It's still in like new condition. I still kick myself for trading my Ithaca SKB in 20 gage for it though.
Nice shotgun, looks like the wood is aging nicely. I agree with your comment that this would be a good upland game gun. Back in the 1960's I used to hunt pheasants and quail on the eastern North Shore of LI in walking distance from my home. This gun would have definitely been a pheasant buster. I understand 90% of the pheasant on the Island are gone. Very sad. NY should have done a better job of game preservation on the Island. Mark
The wood on this gun, is nicer than what I've seen on $2,000+ Browning's and Benneli's. I have buddies that hunt and bag Pheasant's on the south fork, they might be making a come back.
I saw the apples in the ocean when the camera zoomed in later. At first it just appeared they were random shots. Guess I need better glasses for the beginning. :)
The important thing to clean is the gas system. That was the 1st shotty I owned and still use it. Bought it when I was 14yrs old mod choke. Love mine
Your right, its nice and light to.

My dad has one of these that he’s had 40+ years. Great shotgun. His is modified choke though.
I have one with 3 barrels, full 3 inch, Modified 2 3/4" and improved cylinder 2 3/4". I love it and I still deer and duck hunt with it to this day.
Good stuff.

That barrel is not meant for steel, that is a lead only gun!!!
I have A 12 ga same model but is chrome or stainless finish
I bought one of these at an auction and no matter what I do I can’t seem to get it to cycle
Clean lube it first. Mine only cycles full power hunting loads, "High Brass" not the cheap stuff.

Good stuff
I found a smith and Wesson 1000p currently have it on layaway and found out that they’re an older gun
Yes its an older gun, also be aware there only gonna cycle full power hunting loads.
Love that gun I have the same one which was my fathers but I have an IC barrel
Very cool, a better duck gun
I have one from my grandpaw and it’s a duck killer but mines shoots 3 inch
Mine has a modified choke

How do I install a plug on my Smith & Wesson model 1000 semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun
Take the fore grip off then pull the magazine apart and slip the plug in.
Mine loves remington magnum buckshot loads that all I shoot in it
This one also likes full power loads
how about 00's? do you recommend shooting those?
Should do just fine.
I have no idea what you were shooting at in the ocean..
The first three shots are just cycling the gun, and then I'm shooting at apples

Didn't you see the sharks? Lol
How is this legal ... I mean I'm like 90% sure you need to be on private property and if so still like 5 miles from homes....
500 feet
How is it legal to post a video with this much wind noise
Picked one up for th equivalent of $60.
I got mine used from an old farmer and its still in great condition. Was recently serviced at a gun smith as well before I bought it.
Awesome dude you have a bad ass shot gun bro this gun is one of the best shotguns you will ever own if it shoots 3 inch
How about posting your videos without 100 mph winds dude
