- Repairing attempts to my MAYTAG BRAVOS model MVWX655DW0 washing machine.
Recently I have the misfortune of having my washer machine brake.
What a coincidence, only a few weeks after my warranty expired! I think the warranties I buy have a timer, they always expire before I can use them, but anyways I will try to save some money and maybe help some body in the process in the same way I've been helped by some kind individual's videos from time to time.
If you have questions ask away, I'll try to help you.
Thanks for the vid....helped me stay on the correct path after unable to remove the wash plate after removing the bolt. With a piece of wooden curtain rod , about a foot in length, that i kept for some reason I placed it over the center hole, perfect fit, and with a tad spray of WD-40 and a few solid hits with hammer it came loose! I thought I would surely break it trying to force it. Remember to pull up as close to center after the 'tapping' on both sides and it should pop out.
Also have you beat....over $2 in pennies and dimes (guessing nickles and quarters don't fit in the cracks) and a braclet, a screw, and pieces of shells. Every drain hole had something in it. Gonna get some white lithium grease and finish cleaning the wash plate tomorrow...hope that does the trick!
Thanks again taking time to do the vid, and the birds added to the entertainment.
I took a rope and ran under wash plate and pulled up on it a few times. I did find some coins but didnt fix my problem
Haha. $1.30! Maybe my husband will be inspired to do the washer repairs! Seriously, after watching videos about how quickly new appliances break, I am especially appreciative of your repair tip! But those birds! You are very sweet to love them because they are loud. Much love! Gracias!
Birds 🐦 were annoying right. Lol
You are amazing! Only 55 cents in my machine but you saved the day! Truly appreciate your video
Wow those birds are driving me nuts.
Randy Clute yes!! Lol
Randy Clute , shut your shit hole
@@ipadpro238 They drove me nuts too.
because you dont belong on this earth thats why they drive you nuts.
Agreed. I miss some his talking because of them. I don't know how many times I re-watched it because of the birds. But hey to each there own.
Great job! I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video. Those damn birds were so loud
Thank You for sharing I'm glad that it worked for you! I did as U said I did find coins 2 nickels & some jewelry beads, I put everything back tried the light load N it didn't "agitate" N that loud sound was still going on.....so, gotta call the technician to take a look (holding on to my wallet)
And I want to thank you very much for ur info it is very helpful TY from Hawaii!
Lovey Dovey . No problem at all!
I think is our duty to help each other, money doesn't grow on trees.
Great video dude. I had mine fixed in about 20 minutes.
I had long reach tweezers that were made for fishing the coins outta there.
$2 in dimes. 5 pennies. 2 nickels. 1 quarter.
The quarter was barely recognizable as a quarter. It got ground up pretty badly.
The quarter was the culprit. Just as in the video the quarter couldn't get past the 1st crevice and it was acting as a brake.
The spline gears were damaged but I put it back together and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
This did fix mine after watching video I did it and it worked thanks for sharing it makes you feel good when you can fix your stuff def gives me more confidence in the bedroom too
Mine is doing the same thing. Going to try ur fix. Praying it works. I just paid it off and now no more warranty. Go figure 😢...fingers crossed 🤞🏻!!!!!!
Thank U! thank U! thank U!🙌🏽 if it wasn’t for this video I would’ve spend money on getting a new washer all because there was coins stuck underneath the spinner thank you again!
best repair video ive ever seen. Im getting a cold one ready to celebrate before i even start working on it!
I have the same exact model. I have to remove the wash plate all the time to fish out coins. I keep a socket wrench in my laundry room just for that purpose. I tried taking the bolt out a few days ago and stripped it. Hubbie ordered me anew one. I hope to get it today and put it in with some antifreeze grease and do my laundry... I hope.
I’m judging you! Lol na thanks for the video helps a lot have to fix the mother in laws washer this helps a lot thanks again Cheers 🍻
Fantastic video by the author/mechanic !!! thanks
10 cents almost cost me some serious money on repairs. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing this video. I'm going to try it on my washer to see if that's my problem.
Had the same issue everyone here describes with removing the wash plate. Here is how I finally got mine off. Filled empty bolt hole with wd40 and rocked plate back and forth repeatedly. I did .this several times over the next ten minutes or so. I then used a small pry bar to lift the edge of the plate and put wooden shims under it as I worked my around the circumference. It hit a point that it just popped loose. Then pulled pennies and dimes out of the drains. Running a test load now to see if it fixed my problem which was it asked fine but would not spin out the water under load.
Thank you so much! It worked for me!!! It doesn’t have the noise as well.
Thank you for the post. I always consult youtube when my stuff breaks. I have managed to fix a few things that I never thought I would be able to do.
Thank you
Lennox1492. I do the same thing,I call somebody only when is something that requires a special tool I don't want to buy for a single use and youtube is my guide.I do so many different things I wish I had a camera on me at all times, but is difficult.
You are the man i had about 200 coins in mine its working now👍
Thank you! Worked for my issue.
.43 cents!!
Your wash plate came off super easy. I’m having a hard time taking mine out
Thank you I found some money but it still doesn't work. I also checked the drain pump. And belt. And nothing. Still not spinning.
Thank you for the idea! I'm going to to this today.
I appreciate your video. I am having the sample problem. I will try your suggestions.
Thanks for the video. I'm having the same issues with mine, I'm hoping this works out for me.
Hey I don't know your name but I'm going to call you Julio I pray to God that that's the same problem I'm having with my washer I'm about to do the same thing you did and I think it's quarters under my agitator too..lol.. wish me luck Jesus God bless you and thank you made fixing easy
That bird squawking was awful. Put THREADLOCKER on the bolt or it comes loose and destroys the gear. Ask me how I know.
We can't get the middle thing loose. Got the bolt loose, but can't lift it up
Me too
read my reply 07/26/2021 if still need tip
Could've went to auto test mode to check every function. For this model it would be three clicks to the right then click to the left and one click to the right. Each click has a half-second pause in between. Make sure the spin button is lit up afterwards and push start that's your auto test mode .
Would you happen to know the code for the maytag bravo XL washer ? Thank you
On the center dial ?
I had trouble getting my agitator off too. turns out the gears that go over the spline are stripped out, only on the agitator itself, not on the spline down in the bottom. had plenty of change in mine as well. Thanks for the video! hoping that I can get a replacement part.
Hey Brent any idea about this?. I have popped out the center hub,Undone the bolt. But the strainer is not wanting to let loose. Did your strainer come out easy or did you haft to pry it out. It feels like mine is being held in place by something Still? Its a Maytag Centennial MCT Model MVNC555DW0 TYPE 589-01 SERVICE TAG C53640845. What's frustrating is when I go to Maytags websight its not even pulling up there own Model number or service tag.Just says this model is discontinued and cant find much on this unit. There are some videos but not many with this model. It lasted a year and a half. And from what I have seen. People who have bought the warranty etc are getting ___________....
OfficialHankIII yeah mine was stuck on there pretty good you got to work at it to get it off. Once I got it off I realize that that's exactly what the problem was with mine. I had to replace the piece you're trying to get out good luck
I had to take a hammer out and break mine to get it out. And Now I have removed the agitator. And the 6 screws that hold the drive hub washer in place. So if you look at the diagram basket hub. I have removed.1,4,2,6,7,8,9, www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/mvwc555dw0/3048/0153200.html But now the top of the main drive gear box is showing and I dont know how to remove it. I really dont think Its made to be taken off. SO after all this this I still cant lift out the basket to clean out what may be under it. Under this diagram under gearcase and motor if you look at #4 you can see how the top is sticking up through through the basket so I cant remove it...

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh Working on a Maytag Centennial MCT MVWC555DWO
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I had to break the wash plate and use the back end of the hammer to get that part out. Then Since the tube wouldn't let loose from the main drive system I was hesitant on breaking something else. I was lucky enough to have a friend come over that had some more knowledge on these things. He put a small 2x4 long wise over the main drive shaft and hit the 2x4 with a sold hit and it finally let loose. So after cleaning the bottom part and hoses etc,it's looking like I have a faulty lid lock switch and possibly a bad control panel as well. The start button works I know,When I out the unit into Diagnostic mode but. The Light On the board are only showing orange. No red, no green. And when I hit start on the machine its not activating the lid lock. And going through all the cycle's in the dig mode. It will only add water in the washing machine. But anyway Like I said Thanks for the reply and your Vids.
Really sad Maytag makes a washer that excepts dimes. After taking this thing apart and seeing how cheaply it is made, I’m going to buy a Hotpoint from Home Depot for 478 dollars. Mine obviously had a computer board problem and I’m not going to to spend over 400 dollars for that and a service call being just over 5 years old. The tub hangs by 4 plastic coated wires. Was really tired of hearing the tub bounce off the steel panels every time it was slightly out of balance! Bang bang bang bang. But’s nice video! $3.30 in dimes found. I couldn’t get the bottom piece of the tub off after removing the 7/16 bolt. Ended up braking it.
Great job 👍
Thanks your video was a big help
I'm glad it served it's purpose. Thank you.
That really helped ,thank you.
Thank you!!! This worked.
You have a crack near the center due to the coins rubbing between the agitator and the drum. With this hole it will fill up with water and cause an unbalanced condition or UL code. Just fixed mine due to a similar crack/hole
The plástic after the screw you took with the rachet seems yo be really stuck
Good luck, thanks.
Unfortunately didn't solve my problem, similar symptoms. I'll have to pull the back off and check the belts/motors.
Lol I think I have the same problem…. Money makes you have to spend more money. If I told my wife it was because of laziness… I would have to spend more money. Ladies this is why we don’t say much!!! We are trying to save our happiness an money!!
This was so helpful thank you! I did this and found quite a bit of change and grime put it back together. Now it’ll start the cycle but the agitator part doesn’t move like it should. How will I know if the belt on is out of place. It also didn’t seem to be greesed up at all so I’m wondering if I should add some which kind would work well for this? You are a saint thank you for your help this far even if you don’t get around to answering my comment!
in summation: a year ago the only way I could get the washplate removed was to destroy it by pulling it apart in pieces and using a Dremel roto tool and cutting disc to relieve the plastic hub from the metal hub on end of shaft top. This was due to the fact that corrosion had seized the splines of the washplate to the splines of the shaft. After getting it off, I ended up getting a new washplate and putting it in place using Anti Seize compound between the shaft and the washplate splines to aid in future removal, It was a bitch of a job.
Roll the calendar: a whole year later the new one goes bad, spinning freely. Again I had to replace the washplate had to destroy that one the same way. The corrosion ate thru the anti seize compound and seized it together like the first one had. Each time I had to replace the tub's plastic splined hub and horeshooe shaped plastic locking mechanism (both came in kit together), the washplate comes separately and they are expensive. I saw the on ebay and Amazon. I wanted a quality one so I shop at a local appliance part supplier.
ps there were lots of coins and hairpins wedged under washtub edges of the washplate as in the video. Less the second time after I asked family to be careful. I used a smail pick and hemostat tool to remove the coins.
This is a good video however my machine is not draining all the water and my clothes are soaked. Can you tell me how to fix this please 🙏
With this machine you'll save the planet by not using water; and the chocolate ice cream that didn't come out of your shirt will lose you your job.
I did just as you did... cleared out so much muck and coins. Nothing looks broke... put everything back together.. and it still doesn't work. The belt is fine (we checked) and you can hear it run like it's going to agitate but the plate doesn't spin... what else could be wrong before a spend a pretty penny taking it to a shop to be fixed...
Samantha Hanna we have the same issue with ours. We have to replace the plastic hub underneath the wash plate frequently because the splines wear out. Costs about $20. It’s the white circular piece in the video with 6 screws. There are more RUclips videos replacing this part. Good luck!
Could be shifting actuator.
Grease the bolt with white lithium grease, the belt just inspect it visually if it does not look crack or worn out and also make sure is not to loose.
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the video. Also I now hate birds.
Hey!! It works!!!...Thank you so much!!!, I found a dime and a penny.
Was already looking for a new washer.
700.00 dollars you save me.
Gave me your address, so I can delivery you a 12pack of Dos Equis.
You tha man!
Thank you so much.
My center bolt keeps coming loose causing the center wash plate too grind and make noise and not spin I've tightened it like five times even using a drill the last time and it's still can loose any ideas of how to fix this problem
Dude. Your birds!
ricklax 😂
Has anybody any success getting the washboard lifted off When stuck without destroying the wash plate please let us know thank you
O yuyyyyyytxt😿😭❤️

Is your phone hacked or possessed or controlled by aliens? 8-)@@tommymeisner8413
Took coins out. Thought I fixed it. After close inspection the gears are stripped on the cover. We have a warranty. All free repairs and a new washer and if they can’t fix it. If they see I did anything, buy buy warranty.
I have the same washer...when it spins it goes wild, banging against the sides. How can I fix that?
you may need to inspect your suspension support rods hanging the wash tub in the corners, as the wear out many years down the road. mine made it 5 years
i HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, IM GOING TO DO THE SAME THING, WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. !!!
Did it not work???
Nice job on ur repair I see you made some money lol. How did you know what to do did you look it up on RUclips or on line lmk plz.
How are you?
No, I didn't look it up. I eliminated every other possibility and that was the logical conclusion.
I appreciate your comment. Have a blessed day.
Very good........
Got the bolt out but we can't lift the middle thing out. You just lifted it up ours will not budge
Yeah. Same model as this guys and it won't budge.
@@anthonycristiano Have to really wiggle it around while pulling up. Not recommending, but I used pliers to grab the center lip and pulled up while wiggling. That got it.
Thank you 🖒
Wait load the washer around the middle cap of the wash plate
I cant get the blot loose.
I want that agitator and there is a better tall agitator that fits too
Man I wish I found money in my washing machine

I have had mines about 2 years and I cant find the parts for my model either. Terrible. Will never buy this brand again!! Hope that you figured yours out.
Sorry if Did not responded sooner I wasn't getting the notification. Please leave me the model # and serial, even the discontinued models of anything always have equivalent parts.Let me see what I can do.
I love this washer, but is kind of fragile.
?
by strainer did you mean the washplate? Oh, never mind post is three years old.
Washer not spinning out all of the water out of clothes any suggestions
I can get bolt out . Should I apply lubricant?
Thanks!!!!!
Hello. The circular bowl inside my washing machine is the same model. But after unscrewing the center screw. The inner bowl does not open at all. can you help me??
I have Maytag MVWX655DW1 and it cuts and rips clothing apparently for over loading. Maybe clothes get underneath the bottom plate and the coins stuck in there get sharp and ruin any unfortunate fabric venturing there. Mine needed a Cold Water Inlet Valve. I could see cracks in the green rubber coating. The machine would stop after the sensing phase and never fill the water. For $25 I got a complete Maytag MVWX655DW2 that was diagnosed with a bad PC Board. I liberated the Cold Water Inlet Valve from that machine.
why would the design allow coins to get there ?
This guy is lying. I did not make any money! There was only a penny under my agitator and it was damaged beyond use. 😉
Thanks for the video, that fixed the problem with my washer!
Dam Shut those birds homie they get me Nervous
Have you ever seen a problem of too much water making the clothes float?
I have same issue but my washer seems to have a weak wash and makes a ticking sound what can it be or my drive belt lose? Ijust ordered new hub. And removed coins 2 no luck?
If only the person washing clothes emptied the pockets of pants, you wouldn’t have this problem prevention is key
next time put the birds in the washer ! it was hard to hear your comments with all that noise . . . otherwise the vide o was somewhat helpful
🐦 I’m going insane. Otherwise good video
i cant get the screw out!
W-D40 helps
How did you get the wash plate off ??
Ok finally got it off
Hello I am going to attempt and follow you directions to fix my washer. However when I go online to purchase the parts my Model number (MVW600BW0) and Serial number (043930159) don't match any of the replacement parts or I receive the message that it is not certain that the part will fit my Washer. Would you by chance know if the replacement bearing and other parts you used are able to be used on all the similar models of the same washer? My washer looks exactly like yours. If you can't help I understand and thank you for your time and what you have already shared.
LaSonne Singletary. With the information you gave me I will find out and let you know, parts are made for several model at the time and in many occasions they just go with the standard one they can sell easier.
Mine just spin , why I can move it left or right by hand
Jacob Carrazco doesn’t matter as long as it works but probably a broken stopper to keep it from spinning to one side only
this is happening to my washer, same model. I cant get the agitator off, I removed the bolt and it will not budge. How did you get it off so easy?
I stayed at it wiggle wiggle wiggle. It was a pain but it came off....
Did you happen to get yours off? If so how? Mine is stuck real good
Hahahha I saved some money and made some money hahhaa how cute!
I can not get the center white cover off after removing the bolt. Any suggestions as to why it won't budge? There was allot of thick grime buildup under the little cap that was covering the bolt.
Jackie, how did you make out? I'm having the same issue. Bolt is out but the white agitator won't budge. There's a little give to it but for the most part is pretty tight on that center shaft. Letting some WD40 soak in it right now but I want to get this figured out. Every video has people easily taking the agitator out and it's driving me nuts!
ptrippah103 so I dumped some vinegar on there let it soak in and then would move the agitator around and kept doing that about four times! Took about 10 minutes to get it loosened up. Then it pulled off. I had allot of grime and change stuck in mine. Once I cleaned it all out my machine still didn't want to run properly. My husband then told me we have a service plan and I haven't touched the washer since. The menards service/warranty couldn't find anyone in our area to service it so they sent us a check for almost what we paid for the two year old washer. I upgraded to a front load lg.
Oh okay. I'll try vinegar tonight... I feel like that would harm the metal a little but it's only for a short period of time so we'll see. Thank you!
Hey Jackie any updates?

I too had the same problem, just wiggle it until it comes out and when you replace the bolt make sure you put a little white grease to evoid that from happening incase you have to do it again.
Took the washplate off, removed the change, put it back together, same problem. Wont agitate in wash mode. Have a warranty but it's a joke. The money spent on the service call, parts and labor, get a new washer. Dont buy another Maytag!
How do you keep that large piece at the bottom of the drum from moving while trying to remove the bolt?
Sheryl West all I did was get the socket into position and give a quick and sharp hit good luck
Sheryl West all I did was get the socket into position and give a quick and sharp hit good luck
The first time I had to use a battery powered impact driver with (I think an 11mm or maybe a 7/16 I forget) to break the bolt loose due to it being over torqued or corroded to the shat. I replaced it later with a new one and anti-seize compound.
Everyone makes it look easy to remove the bolt holding the agitator. Mine feels like it’s welded on there. Can’t get it to budge!
My bolt is so tight that a ratchet can't unbolt it
Wd40 can help a lot. Spray it and let it do its magic
Did that help for you
@@ScantPear it did. When you pull it out check if is not to badly corroded, if it is replace it and don't forget to apply a little white lithium grease, just to make it easy to pull it back out again if you need to do so.
I'm having the same problem! WD40 didn't work either. I'm holding the tub, but the agitator is moving with the bolt and I've tried holding it in place too. Any ideas?
@@stevenross2686 soak it up in wd40 and you can tap it lightly with a hammer to break away the corrosion, just be gentle.
