_This_ is how you cover Hound Dog. Not trying to sound just like him or his version, but still capturing that raw raspy sound that is the essence of the song.
A lot of people who try to cover the song can sure hit the notes, but their voices are either too styled to modern pop and thus just sound off, or they try and sound like Elvis by going into that deep range, which just makes them sound like 70s Elvis instead.
What I’m trying to say is, this cover is brilliant.

I like this simplified version of the solos. I’ve tried an acoustic cover of this playing the solos from the original recording. But I can’t really get it to sound right. I think I’ll try this version.
