    Great review! However, this was posted in 2020 and as someone who's seriously considering transitioning to the Mac mini ecosystem, I hope there's been improvements on the software side of these applications - especially Adobe; it's criminal that they charge so much and suck so bad on Macs (at least in my experience).

    Good video, Fran! Your studio looks great! Quick tip from a 20+ year broadcast pro: most people are watching by themselves, so talk with them one on one as if they are right in front of you at that moment. We will sometimes put a picture up of the "typical" viewer on the side of the camera to remind talent to talk one on one with that person. You probably wouldn't say "You guys" "You All" if you wanna CONNNECT with that person, and you definitely don't wanna call him or her "RUclips" either! LOL! Just say "Hi" while you're looking at the camera. . Lots of RUclipsrs make this mistake because most have never had any training or performance coaching. So, here's your freebie! Keep up the good work - your content is EXCELLENT.

      Well first off thanks for the sub, its much appreciated. So when it comes to your purchase It's really a sticky situation, so many apps are broken and need to be updated, but the apps that have been updated run like a dream on any of the M1 macs. It's really all about if you are willing to suffer with broken apps while developers sort things out. its been a struggle for me, I keep reverting back to my Intel Mac for certain things, but the future is bright for Apple Silicone, def wouldn't be a horrible idea to wait 1-2 months until things get sorted.

    I have been a Windows user for my Pc all my life and for everything else I’ve used Apple and for be personally my laptop sucks and I don’t really like Windows anymore after leaving Windows 7 to 10 and then to 11 and I’ve been looking for a new Pc and honestly fully going into the Apple ecosystem and honestly I think I might cave and if you want my specs for my laptop it’s a 16gb i3-8145 with 1tb hdd do you think I should switch and should I get the 8gb or 16gb because I know the ram is not the same as on the intel’s and I’m a RUclipsr looking for a great gaming and editing so what do you think and thank you for this video!

      Hey thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video, for video editing of course the M1 mac mini is going to be great at that, def go for the 16Gb version as the 8gb slows down the export process. For gaming of course as of right now gaming support sucks but if your ok with cloud gaming like stadia or GFN then yea I say go for it.

    GOT A QUESTION.... in short I have an iMac mid 2017- 5k i7 16 with a 512 and a 580....tired of fans spinning @ times loudly and the occasional beach ball...they will give me $1140 for the iMac...the mini M1
    I want-1tb with 16 which is $1448.00 with CARE-out of pocket less than $400...SHOULD I DO IT?? Pls let me know I already have an appointment at Apple store this Tuesday...I do occasional 4K more 1080 at 60....would you do it?? Just had a thought-my eyes are REALLY used to 5k...hmmmm-now I am re-thinking this now...

    • @FranklinReid_
      @FranklinReid_  3 года назад

      Hey Morada, so if it were me? yes I would do it mainly because I hate spinning fans myself and the Mac Mini M1 is whisper quiet. As long as you don't need any major plugins and made sure all the apps you need to use work I think its a great deal especially with the trade in.

    I am using Sony alpha 7Miii and will promote to 7siii in upcoming days, so can I use premier and aftereffect easily with my footage on it ?

    • @FranklinReid_
      @FranklinReid_  3 года назад

      Hey Neil, i'm going to assume you meant you are using the Sony A7III and upgrading to the Sony A7SIII, if this is correct and you plan on using Premiere Pro and After Effects I would suggest you wait. The performance that I've gotten out of these two applications is borderline unuseable.

    If you use EditReady to convert your 10 bit footage to ProRes, can you then play it on Resolve 16? Or will Resolve 16 still block 10 bit footage?

    • @FranklinReid_
      @FranklinReid_  3 года назад

      That's actually a really good question, I do not know how that conversion would affect the bit depth and latitude but i'll give it a shot and report back.

    Hi Franklin, i'm pretty new to apple world, is it possible with the mini to work from an extenal SSD (from ninjaV) in FCPX with some ProRes 422 10bit footage ? cause the internal SSD upgrade is pretty expensive (+600 for T)

      Hey Xavier, yes its totally possible to edit off an external drive my recommendation is the Samsung T5 T6 and T7 drives. hope this helps!

      @@FranklinReid_ some reviewers have highlighted lot of bluetooth n wifi issues ..is this true ...i mainly plan to use only bluetooth devices and wifi ....i hv never used mac and chromebox before ....bit confused which to go for as my desktop..portability is main need for me and i got a LG 4k monitor

    • @FranklinReid_
      @FranklinReid_  3 года назад

      Yes the bluetooth issue are in fact true, i've experienced a bunch of random dropouts and disconnections on my mac Mini. Im hoping they will fix these issue with firmware, but for now I've switched to the logitech mouse and KB with the usb adapter. But even with all these problems you can't go wrong with the mac mini over the chromebox which is pretty limiting.
