    This is obviously a luxury tool built in the US according to US construction standards. It's a precision version of a Squangle and I've been waiting for 5 years hoping for a reissue. This tool and the tool that inspired it have one glaring technical weakness when laying out gable rafters, however. The bird's mouth setting doesn't take into account height above plate which means that it can't be used for hip or valley rafters. I wouldn't be using it for that. It would make a very convenient precision bevel gauge though and standard US common rafters wouldn't be a problem.
    With regard to those who dislike the price or business practices of Woodpeckers I can only say that their prices and business practices are similar to other limited run luxury tool brands. If you want that level of precision, you'll pay a price for it and you'll wait in line. Also, you probably wouldn't want to drop a $200 measuring tool off the roof so if that's the intended purpose, stick with a speed or rafter square! Everything has design limits.
    I'm reminded of something I heard at work. Anyone can complain but not everyone can solve the problem. You're not required to buy or approve of this product or this company's business model. If you think they're overlooking a vast market, start your own business and show them what fools they are!

      Just a follow up. I received the 2022 version and it exceeds the much less expensive Squangle in every way. It’s precise, made of superior materials, and adjusts far more easily. Given the fact that it is produced by very costly CNC machines, it shouldn’t be surprising it’s so expensive given the fact that it gets built to order on a limited run basis. I’m satisfied with mine. It probably wouldn’t exist in the first place given any other business model.

      It’s most likely a Squangle and not an Anglesquare because the latter has a stainless steel etched blade. An Anglesquare was never produced in very large numbers.

      What part of 30 or 45 degrees can't you convert to metric? This tool is about angles much more than it's about inches or centimetres. Are you going to build a house with a 32-cm ruler?

      @@JeffRL1956 just because you don't care about the scale doesn't mean nobody does. That it's ancillary to the main purpose of the tool only makes manufacturing the metric version easier.

    I understand it's made in the good ole USA but you have to do something about the pricing ! A plain old retire like me and thousands more of us just can't afford your prices ! Help, believe me we love to see that new Angle Square gracing our walls but the $12.00 one I'm using right now works just as good for me ! You could generate much more sales of all your products with lower prices or at least a big percentage off sale on certain items occasionally !! Once again HELP the thousands of us out here retirees , hobbiesters, and regular hard working trade workers trying to raise kids and just can't warrant $139. on an angle square ! Thanks for the consideration ! We are out here in droves - try us honestly !

      @Pat Mahon first of all I make no assumptions that price equals quality. I made the statement because I work with their tools and they are great. As for roofing projects, that's not what they are made for, they are made for precision woodworking

    I'll be honest, I think this is a pretty cool tool, and I would consider buying it (not for $140), but you're only offering it for an amount of time that's insanely ridiculous and for an astranomical amount most couldn't afford. Woodpeckers you might want to reconsider this. Don't make this a one time gimmick that few of us could afford. Bring the price down a little bit and make it a regular item. You'll be doing yourself a favor.

    I'm starting to have trouble understanding your business model. Once again you announce a tool that's too expensive, apparently not available in metric (see: many comments below), and another "One time tool." I appreciate that these are individually made in the USA, but there just aren't a lot of people in the market for very high-end square- especially something intended for rough framing (on-site it would bent or broken in no time). If this square was maybe $60-$80 without the level and all the rafter markings I would probably buy it, since I've been looking something exactly like it. As is, no way. I've felt much the same with many of your products. Just my $.10.

    • @jeremiah3543
      @jeremiah3543 7 лет назад +3

      I echo everything u just said and I reiterate one thing more. If it's made for rough carpentry I can guarantee it will be dropped from a ladder In no time. After it's retired and no longer available how are you going to replace it? You can't cause it's a One Time Gimmick. If it can't be replaced why buy it? It's like buying a DeLorean. Company no longer makes them and your Outta luck. Good luck after your purchase.
