    I went to n* a few days ago and got the smaller jumps on zones 1,2, and 3. Cleared all of zone 4 and only didn’t do a couple jumps on 5. Zone 6 was out of the question because I only started to gain confidence at the end of the day and by then, braking bumps literally went to the base of the lips. Hammered in 16-17 laps in on my agro trail bike (6 or 7 of which were livewire).

      Wow, great job on the laps and the jumps. I have such a hard time overcoming my fear of catching air. I can honestly say I know how to jump now but just get scared of going anything bigger than 10 ft. Inching my way up all the time though. One day I will hit all the jumps. I progressed a lot since last year at North Star

    Awesome video man, keep em coming! I as well am trying improve my jumping and something that has been helping me not dead sailor so much and feel like I have more control is the air is that I stopped pulling up hard and started compressing more at the base and jumping with your hips at the top when your front wheel is mid air and your rear tire is about to hit the top of the lip. It feels much more like a jump than like I’m going for a ride and hanging on the bike for dear life. Hope that made sense. Have a good one!

      Killuminati definitely makes sense. Stuff I am working on at my local bike park. The jumps at the park are 6-8 foot tables. These at Northstar come up fast and are big. Much different rythm than what I have been practicing. I will keep at it though. Thanks for the tips.

    Remember on jumps, speed is key. If you got good speed and really focus on pushing into the jump and popping off the lip, all you gotta do is plant both wheels on the backside. Practice makes perfect man, you’ll get it eventually

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      Definitely keep working on it. I seem to get a bit better all the time. I will be going back to Northstar soon to see if I am a bit more comfortable on Live Wire jumps.

      MTBing Adventures you looked drastically more comfortable your second time down, you cleared almost all of the smaller ones. It’s just about getting used to the jumps and knowing the speeds and all that, keep trying! I’m actually gonna be at northstar on Sunday doing the same thing, practice makes perfect

      Maybe I will see you out there. I am going to demo a Pivot bike if I can.

      MTBing Adventures yep gotta love the freeride festival haha, it’d be sick if we could take a lap

      Dennis Lovelady yep it’s amazing what pushing into the lip and standing up will do

    1. Wow the wind at 13:19 just blew the dirt right off the lens!
    2. It's the "what if" that keeps the brakes on. So hard to trust the trail when you've spent your life on the ground! I'm struggling to clean bigger jumps too. Freaks me out a little.

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      Dude! That was a good observation on the dirt. I didn't notice that until you told me. I guess overcoming that freaky feeling is just doing it over and over and over until we get it. That's going to be the plan for me anyway.

    I need to come out here

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад +1

      Try to time it right when it opens. It doesn't take long for all the trails to get blown out. It's fun all season but best at the beginning.

    This is my local hill so hmu if u ride here again I’d be down to take a few laps

      @mtbingadventures1551  5 лет назад

      Sounds great, I plan on riding there this year as soon as it opens for mountain biking. May have to hit me up again as we get closer to the season. We'll get a lift ticket for the day and hit some runs together for sure.

      Did I get one of those wrong? That was the name of the each trail I found on TrailForks. Just wanting to make sure I got it right.

    I suspect our runs would look very similar if I were to video mine. Some of those jumps are just freakin' scary! lol

      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      LOL! Yeah they are. Those are my goal jumps. If I can ever get these I would be so excited. Maybe next year.

      Outdoor Gold Lol, see what I did there. Asked a question to forshadow my video. I am getting 6-8 ft tabletops down. Those at Northstar are kinda big. But those are the ones I want to clean consistently.

    nice job Aaron, do you recommended riding HT at bike park. or Do you see any HT there?

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      I guess it depends on how aggressive you would ride Northstar. I felt like the HT could handle everything I threw at it. I know Trail Peak brothers shred stuff on their Hightowers and they have this park in one of their videos. I saw a lot of bikes that weren't full downhill bikes either and just shredding.

    If had just a little more speed you would be clearing all those. Good stuff man!

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks, I am scared how fast the face of the jump comes up to me. I don't feel like I am getting the compression and lift right. I still have to think to much and trying to erase bad habits of pulling up on the handle bars. Back to the bike park. LOL

    Do they rent bikes at North star? I only have a mtb not a downhill bike.

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      Yes, they have bikes you can rent. I used my Santa Cruz, Hightower LT all day though. So depending on your bike you might be able to ride yours.

      He's not using a DH bike in the video

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      @@Spiral81C1 I'm assuming you are responding to Tyler Rantz. I see lots of people just using bikes similar to mine.

    • @Spiral81C1
      @Spiral81C1 6 лет назад +1

      I'm aware. I think his comment implied that he thought yours was a DH bike so I was just clarifying that for him.

    • @Spiral81C1
      @Spiral81C1 6 лет назад +2

      Tyler, there's a wide variety of bike styles with different uses. XC, trail/all-mountain, enduro, downhill are the main ones I'm aware of.
      When it comes to most lift serviced parks the main rule is to have at least a full suspension bike and for it have at least 150mm of travel on the front fork, although in my experience I'd say about 90% of the people going use either enduro or DH (170mm to 200mm of travel). When I first started going, I was using a 150 front 140 rear trail bike a lot like the one in the video only I had 27.5" wheels instead of the 29" I think the Hightower has. This is fine to start out with but I quickly found the limits of that bike and got a carbon frame DH bike this summer with 200 mm of Fox travel front and rear and the difference was enormous.
      If you do rent, I'd recommend either enduro or DH. If the bike you own is not full suspension you probably should rent.

    Do another Elk Grove Park update

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад

      I hope to be doing one in the very near future. I have about 7 edits I have to do before that though. And may even have a couple others that I am forgetting about. I have to do 3 videos from the EG bike park though. There will be an update, etiquette video, and possible a bike swap and parts thing that may happen there. We will see.

    Jump skills are not remembered well. Use them often to keep and improve them. Not a whole lotta jumping trails in my region, so, unfortunately, I have to retrain the brain whenever I hit jumps. Practice, and big balls is all we need!

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  6 лет назад +1

      I have to go to the bike park all the time just to keep maintain what I have learned so far. It's crazy how much I have been struggling with my jump progression. It is coming along though. I am cleaning 6 foot table consistently now. I couldn't agree more on the big balls needed part. I need to stop being afraid of getting that air.

      Thanks, I have been working at my jumps at the local bike park. There is progress but the jumps are designed quit a bit different than the ones at Northstar. My goal is to clear all the Live Wire ones next season.
